I always have such a great time at these events and can’t wait to see what the day brings. Today, I’m here to talk about my newest release, What a Werewolf Wants. Even though it’s the third book in the San Francisco Wolf Pack Series, it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone since it revolves around a new hero and heroine in the wolf pack.

Confession: I’m into woo-woo.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to people who know me that I’ve written a series about energy—the energy between people, to be specific. That burst you get when you’ve spent an afternoon with good people, ‘your’ people. The drain from an energy-vampiress boss who feeds on power over others the way I feed on chocolate chips when I’m on deadline. Flares of warning signals that fire off when you meet someone untrustworthy or dangerous. The warm yet jittery excitement of meeting someone who makes you fantasize about what his or her lips taste like. I love that energy.

The excerpt below is from my fifth book, Lies Ripped Open. I got to say that three years ago when I published my first book, Crimes Against Magic, I had no idea that I’d be on book five. To be honest, I wasn’t even sure if I’d be doing book two. And four years ago I had no idea I’d ever be published, no matter how much I wanted or worked toward it.
And one becomes two. When I first wrote The Third Key, I never intended to write a sequel. The book was just an idea I had and wanted to get out. It was supposed to be a standalone YA fantasy and that was that. But then, as is often the case, it wasn’t.

The last time I made an appearance on Bitten by Books, it was to promote my genre mashup, Amish Vampires in Space. I talked about how that book came to be, and a little about the rollercoaster my life became following the book’s release—everything from unexpected mentions by the Washington Post and The Tonight Show, to my publisher being sold and the new owner deciding he didn’t want my book as part of his catalog. (Despite the buzz…and the positive reviews.) I also mentioned that I was trying to figure out what to write next.
As a kid I fancied myself a bit of a tomboy. There’s just myself and my sister in our family, no brothers. So I took it upon myself to fill the void I was positive my father had in his life due to the lack of a boy child. I built ramps to jump my bike, went on motorbike rides with him, and followed him around on weekends asking him a gazillion questions about cars and engines and stuff like that. Plus, I hated going clothes shopping with my mother and sister (l liked clothes, just not the shopping part!). All that aimless wondering through shops. Argh! I’d rather go fishing with dad.
Bloodsucking vampires, psychotic faeries, and a snarky, kick-butt heroine—that sums up the Ivy Granger series in a nice, neat little package. But the world of Ivy Granger isn’t nice and neat. It’s messy.
