I loved trick or treating on actual Halloween night in Chicago
Interview with a Vampire
Dina are you going to read Prince Lestat?
yes, I also have another of her books, just cant remember the name, lol
We are just South of Chicago and Halloween is huge in my neighborhood! We all decorate, there are a ton of kids, and it is just a really fun time
I guess our neighborhood here is really popular. Too bad we won’t be home. We will be trick or treating at your place Kristin. LOL
I used to love trick or treating of course. but when I was in my twenties I used to have a big Halloween party at my house each year. Then 16 years ago (this coming Halloween) I got married so it took on a new meaning for me.
I think Interview with a Vampire is my favorite book too. though I did really like the Mummy!
she wrote the Mummy?
Yep. It was really good too…one of the non-vampire books of hers I adore.
I loved the movie
Oh yeah, no it is a totally different story! Just happens to be one of those titles that several properties use. Although I agree, I also love the movie
Yep, we talked about her other books last week here: http://bittenbybooks.com/the-vampire-chronicle-convos-other-works-by-anne-rice/
Here’s the link to the actual book though: http://www.amazon.com/Mummy-Ramses-Damned-Anne-Rice-ebook/dp/B004G8P2K0?SubscriptionId=AKIAJHW3OEMAAIX6JUDA&tag=bittenbybooks-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B004G8P2K0
I loved making Halloween dinner when my sons were little. They loved all the “scary” foods :).
Vicki what was your favorite scary dish? Got a recipe to share? (if you post a link it may go to spam so best to post the recipe if you have it handy! YUM
Favorite Halloween memory.. I have two sons.. they are eight years apart.. What are the odds.. that exactly EIGHT YEARS to the day.. Halloween morning.. when they were age six years old.. that they would break out with chickenpox and have to stay home?? Well, my sons did just that! More than one kid got a “trick” when they saw their friend inside.. who was not supposed to go near the door..
I liked planning my frosh dorm Halloween party-it’s how I met two of my best friends!
I liked learning about Anne Rice’s other series, since they don’t get as much attention!
I haven’t read any Rice books yet…very bad, I know!
I might take up the series and then decide!
My favorite Halloween tradition is making costume with my mom.
Getting dressed up and walking up and down the roads (miles) around our neighborhood. We would get tons of candy!
It used to be dressing up and going to Halloween parties but now it’s going out trick or treating with the nephews and/or getting them whatever candy they want because I know I’m going to be stealing half of what they get so might as well get them plenty of candy before hand!! LOL
And I will definitely be reading Lestat. I don’t think it’s been that long - of course it’s been that long - however when a story is that good it really doesn’t need to be revitalized it’s just need a continuation of the story!!!
getting dressed up as a witch and taking the kids trick or treating
Def my fav book of Anne Rice’s has always been Interview With A Vampire
The best discussion so far was when The Sleeping Beauty and The Mummy were talked about, because it was not only vampires and witches but it was of what a great writer she is.
I liked that one too! She has such a fascinating catalog!
I love to carve pumpkins
I haven’t started re reading the series… yet!
Dressing up and having mom take me and my friends trick or treating.
Got my copy in the mail just now! Please excuse me while I go into full-on fan girl mode!
have read all of ms. rice’s books and love them all , tho I DON’T RECALL “BLOOD AND GOLD “
Blood & Gold is one of my favorite installments! It is basically Marius’ back-story. If you like him, I cannot recommend it enough.
Not entering the contest, but wanted to shout, “Oh, yes! MARIUS!” I totally agree. I’ve read them all and I adore him. Lestat runs a close second. And for Halloween, I’m going to Anne Rice’s Vampire Ball in New Orleans. So excited.
Jealous. So very jealous that you are going to the Ball!
Marius is so my favorite. I just want to hand out with him.
My favorite Halloween memory is trick or treating with family and friends.
I will definitely be reading Prince Lestat. Since Anne Rice is such a talented writer, I am sure her new book will be just as good as the original.
I would say the costumes are my favorite Tradition.that kids get to play something they are not is a great thing for kids to do. I love it.
My favorite discussion was the first (Interview With the Vampire). I really enjoyed reading about your meeting with Anne Rice. I hope that Marissa Clarke returns to tell us all about Anne Rice’s Vampire Ball in New Orleans.
Even though I have enjoyed reading many of Anne Rice’s books, Interview With the Vampire is still my favorite because it was the book that first introduced me to this great author.
I have only had time to reread the first book in this series.
I have to say, you are ahead of me Bonnie! I know, shame on me- I skimmed a few of the old books for this feature, but I did not reread any of it & then Prince Lestat showed up today, so I am just going to dive in!
I hope Marissa lets us know about the Ball too! I have always wanted to go.
I love to take my kids trick or treating.
Favorite Halloween memory.. ..
The parade at my son elementary school 4 years ago it was my first Halloween Here… In Israel we have Purim but the reasons to the customs is totally different.
Ann Rice was my first reading on Vamps ever
Dressing up and taking the niece and nephew out trick or treating.
What is your Favorite Halloween Memory or Tradition? - I love to decorate like crazy and dress up too. I managed a house a few years ago that rented out rooms and we decorated both lots to the nines! It was amazing! Front and back yard displays, on the roof, lights, costumes… the whole shebang. I miss being able to do that!
