  1. Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill- I love Merit & her journey. And Ethan.

Vampires in America by DB Reynolds- just love the way DB does her vampires.

The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice- Wether you love or hate this series (I love it), I firmly believe that we probably would not have all of the amazing vampire stories available to us now without Anne Rice. She is a pillar of the genre and you have to respect that.

  2. Not the traditional, but I love the Carpathians. For a more traditional, the Anita Blake series.

  3. I would toss my two novels into the ring. Immortal Obsession and Blood Tears.

  4. I’ve been enjoying Mary Hughes’ Biting Love series (the humor is a welcome element)!

  5. Does Jeaniene Frost “Night Huntress” novels not count? I noticed this series was not a choice.. :/

    • Or what about JR Rain’s vampire series?? I would like to see what the “others” people voted for… Doesn’t look like anyone has left a comment stating what their “other” choices were..

    • There will be another poll next week…there were too many options for just one poll. I know Night Huntress is on that list

  6. You missed the excellent Progeny Series by Ashlynne Laynne

  7. Raonaid Luckwell

Mark of the Vampire - I love Laura Wright’s vampires and I like the change of pace.
Of course I had to vote for Delilah S Dawson’s Blud too. Ahhhh Criminy!
And Nobel Dead by Barb and JC Hendee. I love Magere

  8. Night Huntress series by Jeanine Frost

    Scanguards series by Tina Folsom

  9. I voted for Sabina Kane because I loved that series, and ‘other’ for the Cat/Cat and Bones/Night Huntress (whatever you want to call it) books that weren’t on the list. Although it says Round 1, so maybe they’re in a later round?

  10. Jacqueline Rhoades Guardians of the Race series and
    Teresa Gableman’s Protector Series
It was hard limiting to three I wanted to include JR Wards Black Brotherhood but was glad to see that is leading without my vote any way. However I chose Lynsay Sands Argeneau Vampires because the stories are wonderful the characters diverse and the take on why they are vampires is so creative.
Jacqueline Rhoades has a fantastic series of strong humourous male protector vampires in a world where vampires protect the human race, the women they love a strong individual and compliment the male vampires.
Teresa Gableman’s series have vampires and humans knowing about each other and again the Vampires are protectors of humans, the characters are wonder and you feel you know them. There are also halflings and females who are vampires as well who train to protect.
To finish I choose these series because I really find myself jumping up and down like a kid before Christmas when I know one of their books are due out!

  11. Since there are so many great vampire series on this list, I had a very hard time limiting my choices to 3. My favorites are Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill, and Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. I love how each of these authors have created their own unique vampire worlds.

  12. i really enjoy Diane Duvall’s Immortal Guardian series

  13. I love the Ancients of Light Series by Heather Fleener it is full of Action, twist and turns and Heather does an amazing job and drawing you into this world she has created. All of the books so far have been amazing and I expect the rest to be just as great!!! If you have not read them you really should. The sassy Witches and hot Vampires will have you laughing out loud but at the same time totally falling in love with them. It is pure Greatness!!!! :) I also love the fact that you get to see how the Characters from the pervious books develop so if you have a soft spot for some more than others you still get to enjoy them in the rest of the books!!

  14. I voted for Sookie Stackhouse series, as it’s one of my favorites, and for my recent discovery Bloodlines series which I love! I’m dying to read the next book, but it’s coming out in July, and the last one ended in such a cliffhanger… Can’t wait!

  15. Joey W Hill’s Vampire Queen series is the top of my list. Every book in the series is gripping, shocking, erotic and down right dripping with vampire angst. Love my vampires a tad dark :-D

Next is BDB, JR Ward. The first series I read after Twilight, the start of a fantastic journey. I wait impatiently every year for the next book - The King just arrived today ‘Yee Ha’

Finally DB Reynolds Vampires in America - came late to this series, so was able to read them back to back. Love the kick ass ladies and the ruthless vamps - quality.

  16. My picks:

    1. The Carpathian Series by Christine Feehan
I’ve not read the whole series, the only story I read was in the anthology “After Twilight”. It featured several of the Carpathian characters, but centered around Falcon and takes place after book 7 of the Carpathian series, I believe.

    2. Dracula by Bram Stoker
I’ve not read this either, but I’ve seen it redone many many times on film and its really where it all started, isn’t it.

    3. Other - not in the poll….my favorite series is the Savannah Vampires series by Raven Hart.
I’ve read every book so far…and she’s working on the next one. It features vampires, slayers, werewolves, fae-folk, and voodoo priestesses! But sexy, blue-eyed vampire Jack McShane and his love for slayer and cop Connie Jones is the best part! :))

    • Others that aren’t on the poll, but are really good:

***Savannah Vampires Chronicles series by Raven Hart***

      - Book 1 - Vampire’s Seduction:
Southern aristocrat vampire William Cuyler Thorne and good-old-boy blood-drinker Jack McShane must protect Savannah’s human residents from things that bite in the night—if they don’t stake each other first. A ghost ship in Savannah harbor and a visit from William’s evil sire Reedreck are harbingers of bad things to come.

      - Book 2 - The Vampire’ Secret:
Mysterious vampires land in Savannah to rock William’s world and threaten Jack’s place in it. If that wasn’t bad enough, a plague among blood drinkers threatens to make the merely undead really most sincerely dead.

      - Book 3 - The Vampire’s Kiss:
William goes abroad to rescue a voodoo princess, leaving Jack to protect Savannah single-handedly! Smilin’ Jack McShane runs headlong into a pack of meth cooking werewolves and the creature from the black lagoon!

Jack faces his greatest challenge yet when he must rescue Connie from the underworld only to learn that she threatens the existence of him and his kind. What will he do when ordered to kill her? Meanwhile, the bloodthirsty Old Lords harness elemental powers to raise the evil dead!

      - Book 5 - The Vampire’s Revenge:
Tourists are heading to Savannah for St. Patrick’s Day and Jack is racing through tunnels below the city to the edge of Hell itself to hold off a plot posed by the double-dead and demented. But Jack must also hold off his own desire for Connie Jones, the beautiful cop he turned into a vampire slayer who’s got him at the top of her hit list!

The last thing she should do is invite the beautiful stranger into her house.

But Victoria Cavendish is different. Finally, he has found a woman to love, a woman who accepts him for what he is—a woman who wants him as much as he wants her…which is why he should leave. But Antonio is a vampire, not a saint. What is his, he’ll fight to keep and protect. And Victoria Cavendish needs protecting…from the remorseless enemy who would make her his prey…and from Antonio’s own uncontrollable hunger.

***Den of Shadows series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.****
Its YA, and she started the series and published the first book at 15 years old, but it is very well written, and very dark and mysterious! I read them in Jr High and have re-read them since. Still a fav!

      - Book 1 - In the Forests of the Night:
By day, Risika sleeps in shaded room in Concord, Massachusetts. By night, she hunts the streets of New York City. She is used to being alone. But someone is following Risika. Three hundred years ago she was human. Now she is a vampire, a powerful one. But her past has come back to torment her.

      - Book 2 - Demon in My View:
Though nobody at her high school knows it, Jessica is a published author. Her vampire novel, Tiger, Tiger, has just come out under the pen name Ash Night. Now two new students have just arrived in Ramsa, and both want Jessica’s attention. She has no patience with overly friendly Caryn, but she’s instantly drawn to Alex, a self-assured, mysterious boy who seems surprisingly familiar. If Jessica didn’t know better, she’d think Aubrey, the alluring villain from her novel had just sprung to life. That’s impossible, of course; Aubrey is a figment of her imagination. Or is he?

      Book 3 - Shattered Mirror:
To the casual observer, Christopher Ravena and Sarah Vida look like normal high school students. But he’s a vampire who has sworn off human blood, and she’s a witch, a daughter of the most powerful vampire-hunting dynasty in history. Slowly, without meaning to, Sarah finds herself won over by his sensitivity, his gentleness, his kindness.
But his past and her future collide when they both get tangled up with Nikolas, one of the most reviled vampires ever.

      - Book 4 - Midnight Predator:

Her employer: an unknown contact who wants the job done fast. Her major obstacle: she’ll have to hide her strength and enter Midnight, a fabled vampire realm, as a human slave. . .

      - Book 5 - Persistence of Memory:
Sixteen-year-old Erin Misrahe just wants to be like everyone else in her new school. But Erin has more to worry about than passing AP Chemistry or making friends. In times of stress, she has always been overcome by her alter ego, Shevaun, whose violent behavior wreaks havoc on those around her. Erin can never remember anything about these episodes, and she’s grateful to have been spared them for a while.
But when a protective friend comes back into Erin’s life, he insists that Shevaun is a vampire who actually exists apart from Erin. Shevaun has dangerous allies, like the handsome witch Adjila-and they’re determined to sever Shevaun’s connection to Erin once and for all.

      - Book 6 - Token of Darkness:
Cooper Blake has everything going for him, until he wakes from a car accident with his football career in ruins and a mysterious, attractive girl by his side. Cooper doesn’t know how Samantha got there or why he can see her; all he knows is that she’s a ghost, and the shadows that surround her seem intent on destroying her.
No one from Cooper’s old life would understand what he can barely grasp himself. . . . But Delilah, the captain of the cheerleading squad, has secrets of her own, like her ability to see beyond the physical world, and her tangled history with Brent, a loner from a neighboring school who can hear strangers’ most intimate thoughts. Delilah and Brent know that Cooper is in more trouble than he realizes, and that Samantha may not be as innocent as she has led Cooper to believe. But the only way to figure out where Samantha came from will put them all in more danger than they ever dreamed possible.

      - Book 7 - All Just Glass:
Sarah Vida has given up everything for love. From a legendary family of vampire-hunting witches, Sarah was raised to never trust a vampire, to never let her guard down, and to avoid all tricky attachments of the heart. But now Sarah IS a vampire—changed by the boy she thought she loved. Her family has forsaken her, and Sarah herself is disgusted by her appetite for blood.
Aida Vida is Sarah’s older sister, the good, reliable sibling who always does her family proud. But when Aida’s mother insists that Sarah be found and killed, Aida is given the one assignment that she may not be able to carry out.

      - Book 8 - Poison Tree:
The rich stew of the author’s creations’ SingleEarth, vampires, shapeshifters, Tristes, the Bruja Guilds are at full boil here in the story of two 20-ish young women trying to out run their very different pasts, and figure out where they fit in and who they might become. Each has landed in a more “normal” place, and each wonders if, like a tattoo that can’t be covered up, they can ever really fit into “normal.”

      - Book 9 - Promises to Keep:
The compendium of creations (SingleEarth, the Bruja guilds, the Midnight empire) intertwine in an exciting, unsettling plot featuring happenings both accidental and deliberate that will forever change the alternate landscape inhabited by vampires, Tristes, shapeshifters et al. It all begins with a wrong turn and a crashed party, and from there it’s an epic clash of elements and the promise of more chaos still to come. At the center of the storm is Jay, a young vampire hunter that no one would ever have predicted might be earth’s best bet to thwart the rise of a vampire-controlled slave empire called Midnight. Teens will find themselves drawn to Jay, who struggles to prove his worth even while he has his own fears that those who have written him off may be right to do so.

***The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer.***
Controversial, yes, but still a very popular series and a fav of mine. I’m not crazy about the movies, they were disappointing, but I’ve re-read these books at least 4 times and they always make it on my fav lists.

      - Book 1 - Twilight:
When Bella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.
What Bella doesn’t realize is the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And it might be too late to turn back…

      - Book 2 - New Moon:
For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning…

      - Book 3 - Eclipse:
As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob - knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

      - Book 4 - Breaking Dawn:
To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife have led her to the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or to pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fates of two tribes hangs.
Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating, and unfathomable, consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella’s life-first discovered in Twilight, then scattered and torn in New Moon and Eclipse-seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed… forever?

***The Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schreiber***
Another YA, but a very, very good series! Its goth-tastic, romantic, angsty, and comedic!

      - Book 1 - Vampire Kisses:
The mansion on top of Benson Hill has been empty and boarded up for years. But a new family has moved in. A family that never ventures out during the day. Who are these creepy people — especially the handsome, dark, and elusive Alexander Sterling? Or rather, what are they? Could the town gossip actually be true? Are they vampires?
Raven, who secretly covets a vampire kiss, both at the risk of her own mortality and Alexander’s loving trust, is dying to uncover the truth.

      - Book 2 - Kissing Coffins:
Not far from Dullsville, someone’s lurking in the dark. . . .
After meeting the handsome and shadowy Alexander Sterling, goth-girl Raven’s dark world has a bright, new glow. But as in her favorite movie, Kissing Coffins, Raven knows that love always has its complications, especially when Alexander has a big secret to guard.
When Alexander suddenly disappears, Raven leaves Dullsville to begin a dangerous search to find him. Can she stay safe, no matter who or what she encounters on the way?

      - Book 3 - Vampireville:
For goth-girl Raven, dating her dream boyfriend is complicated, especially because Alexander’s secret means that they can see each other only at night.
And now the pair must be extra wary in the dark with Alexander’s archrival, Jagger, appearing around town. As if Jagger isn’t enough cause for worry, Luna, his strikingly pale sister, has also surfaced and seems to have her sights set on Raven’s longtime nemesis, Trevor. Together, Raven and Alexander must begin a terrifying search for Jagger and Luna’s hideout to drive them away — that is, if it’s not already too late to save Dullsville from becoming Vampireville.

      - Book 4 - Dance with a Vampire:
There’s a new vampire in town. His name is Valentine Maxwell. Goth-girl Raven knows this latest intruder can only mean trouble… he’s the younger sibling of two vampires she fought to drive out of Dullsville. But when her brother, Billy, befriends this dangerous tween night prowler, the stakes are suddenly higher. Though torn by the excitement of every teen girl’s fantasy… attending the prom with her boyfriend… Raven must do everything she can to protect Billy.
Valentine’s appearance may pose even further threats. Could he somehow know Raven’s innermost feelings about becoming immortal for her true love, Alexander? The far-from-ordinary romance of these two teen outsiders takes another surprise-filled spin in the fourth book of Ellen Schreiber’s applauded Vampire Kisses series.

      - Book 5 - The Coffin Club:
When Raven returns to Hipsterville’s cryptic goth haunt, the Coffin Club, she discovers a secret door to another disco-”The Dungeon”-that is inhabited by vampires only. Raven learns that the nefarious Jagger Maxwell has welcomed the vampire clan into the club and has gained the popularity he missed in Romania. He is poised to take over Hipsterville, until a new vampire named Phoenix challenges him for control of the Coffin Club. Unbeknownst to Alexander, Raven becomes caught up in the clash, entranced by the hypnotic vampire culture of the Underworld.

      - Book 6 - Royal Blood:
Summer break is over, and Raven is hardly eager to be returning to Dullsville High. Not only does school mean daily interaction with preppy pest Trevor Mitchell, but her sleep-filled days and romantic nights with her immortal boyfriend, Alexander, must come to an end. Plus the shock of morning classes isn’t the only change in store.
An unexpected letter turns up at Alexander’s mansion, announcing his parents will be coming to town. And once they arrive, just about everyone has had a sighting of the macabre couple except Raven. What could be delaying Alexander from introducing Raven to them? Could Alexander be hiding something about his parents’ homecoming?

      - Book 7 - Love Bites:
As a mortal girl dating a vampire, Raven knows that love isn’t always easy. Now that Alexander’s parents have returned to Romania, Raven and her dreamy vampire boyfriend are happy to resume their cryptic romance.
But soon another visitor comes knocking: Sebastian, Alexander’s best friend, arrives for a stay at the mansion. At first Raven is wary, then thrilled-this is the perfect chance to learn more about her darkly handsome boyfriend and his past. Raven has been wondering whether Alexander will ever bite her and make their love immortal, and Sebastian could be her guide to the love habits of Alexander and his kind. But when Sebastian falls for a particular Dullsvillian, will another mortal beat Raven to the bite?

      - Book 8 - Cryptic Cravings:
The morbidly monotonous Dullsville has finally become the most exciting place on earth now that Raven is madly in love with her hot vampire boyfriend Alexander, and a crew of vampires has taken residence in Dullsville’s old mill. Raven discovers Jagger’s plan to open a new club, The Crypt, right here in Dullsville. But is it her dream come true, or her worst nightmare? Raven and Alexander have to figure out what the nefarious vampire has in store for Dullsville’s teen and vampire population. Can Raven convince Jagger to listen to her plans to make the Crypt the morbidly magnificent dance club it could be? Will it be safe for mortals and vampires alike?
And as Sebastian and Luna’s relationship heats up, Raven wonders about her own amorous fate: Will Alexander ever turn her? Does he crave her and does he want to spend eternity together? And what does she really want?

      - Book 9 - Immortal Hearts:
Athena “Stormy” Sterling is coming to Dullsville, and Raven is both excited and panicked in anticipation of Alexander’s little sister’s visit. Alexander tells Raven that she and his sister have a lot in common, but can the mini-Raven be everything she hopes for? Alexander calls her Stormy for a reason.
Stormy’s visit stirs up the perfect immortal whirlwind. Raven is forced to take a good look at what it would really mean to be a vampire in the Sterling family, aside from some of the things she already loves, like shunning the sun and sleeping in a coffin with Alexander. When Raven compares her life with Stormy’s, she can see that it’s not all starry skies and black roses. But Raven knows she’s always wanted to be a vampire.
Alexander is as romantic and dreamy as ever, and though he keeps showing Raven how much he loves her, will she ultimately be able to convince him that it’s the right thing to turn her?

After they meet and fall in love, Jason realizes that to love her, he must leave her lest one of them be destroyed; but he keeps on holding onto their love for just one more day. When Leanne discovers the truth about the man she loves, what will the fate of their love be?

When she learns the truth, she accepts what must be, but holds off on committing to him until the children she has been rescuing and caring for are safe. Will she be able to escape the one who wants her death and give her love to her destined mate before he becomes a monster equal to the one hunting her?

She and Rick are instantly drawn to one another, but he is haunted by a terrible secret- he is the wolf. Three years ago, he and his brother, Jason, were bitten by a werewolf, and have sought to free themselves of the curse ever since. He has longed for death, but now has love to consider. Yet, this seems impossible. Inadvertently, he had bitten Stephanie, and now she is slowly becoming a creature like himself. Her only salvation lies in the death of the one who infected her.
