Wanton Nights by Tawny Taylor

Kaitlin Doyle is a romance novel junkie. While reading the novel Her Dark Knights, she finds herself captivated by the two men in the book, swept away by the story of the heroine’s submission to these two powerful masters, literally. The two heroes from her favorite romance novel drag her into their world, and she is introduced to the passion that had been on the pages of Her Dark Knights… only now she’s the heroine, and this fantasy has just taken a turn into reality.

Cayne and Ronan are Nephilim, fallen angels who now reside in Alyria, a world that boasts of immortal beings. They bring their Bride home and relish the fact that she’s innocent and submissive in nature. After a short time in their world she accepts their traditions. They delight in teaching her about their culture, and she responds well. But after years of running from her sexuality, can she indeed own it? Is there a way she can allow Cayne and Ronan to possess her at the same time and keep a sense of herself?

There were a few subplots that started off with a bang, though they quietly petered away. The sex in this novella is hot, and sprinkled expertly throughout the pages. Erotic readers will enjoy the sensual appeal of the men, and the marked innocence of the heroine. Throw in a surprisingly sweet male/male sex scene, engaging innocence on a bondage table, and two deliciously hard bodies and you have one excellent erotic read. I’m giving Wanton Nights 4 tombstones. Tawny Taylor weaves a lot of sexual tension in a quick, enjoyable read.

Del Fantasma: Undertow by J.M. Snyder

Undertow is J.M. Snyder’s contribution to the Del Fantasma Series. The Del Fantasma is a bar where all manner of paranormal happenings seem to occur and the Undertow is a drink they serve there. In Undertow we are introduced to Derek and Kellen a pair of merrows raised in a pod off the point of Loma Vista. A merrow being more human and less mermaid are able to live in the cresting waves of the ocean as well as take to land. In human form they shed their scales, gills and fins with the assistance of a talisman that they wear.

It was apparent from early on that Kellen loved Derek deeply. Derek loved humans and thought of nothing other then joining the human world permanently. When he saw Tad sitting on the beach he fell in love and that desire became a reality.

Undertow is a fantastical story ripe with passion and jealousy. It intertwines within its pages the feelings some of us have that how we are born is not who we truly are. I found myself delighted with the unique characters and surroundings. If you would like to try an Undertow the recipe can be found at the end of the book.

By the Moonlight by Jaxx Steele

A hunter of pheromone laden blood and a lover of women (not men), Jared cannot understand why he is seeing Byron whenever in a, well… intimate position. Club Hombre isn’t that much different then the strip club Jared frequents in order to find his prey, except for the fact there are no women, and he finds himself being drawn into a world that he knew existed, but had never before participated in. Though a vampire who has lived centuries and has had a ton a female partners, Jared is still very innocent in terms of the pleasures to be found with a man, or a woman for that matter.

This is a very short story and doesn’t have much character development or plot. However, for a fan of M/M action, this is quick story that gets right to the point. Though I thought some parts of this story were somewhat cheesy, they made me smile and I recommend this story for fans of M/M.

Wicked Nights by Tawny Taylor

Cheryl Witte is a freelance writer on the verge of penning the story of the century. She has insider information on a portal that allows men to travel to the human world and kidnap unsuspecting women, keeping them as their brides in a different dimension.

Cheryl is a woman of her times. She’s independent and hardworking, and she has never seen herself as marrying any man – let alone two. Wanting the story of the century, she sets a trap for the horrid barbarians and goes about summoning them. She has their book, Dangerous Knights, and she knows what to expect. She has been tipped off by a source who claims to know the barbarians secrets. All it takes is a few drops of blood and a plea that they come and get her. Then she plans on trapping them in the human realm so that they can no longer enslave more women.

Cy and Maksim are bi-sexual vampires who find that they are now mated and share a bride who has shown to be more than difficult. Cy is open and affectionate – the polar opposite of Maksim, who holds himself aloof from the two. Once they acquire Cheryl, their predestined bride, they set about training her to be a submissive.

I’ll be honest, I had a hard time with this one. The sex scenes are HOT. We have some male on male action, a round of whipping, and some sex toys that would make Pam Anderson blush. But underneath the ménage there was not much of a plot, and I found the characters lacking any depth. The big secret that Maksim holds from Cy and Cheryl – the reason he couldn’t fully commit to the relationship – was a disappointment.

I’m giving Wicked Nights 2 ½ Tombstones. If you like graphic, knee-weakening, mouth-watering sex, dive right in. If you like a little plot with your blindfolds, I would hold out on this wicked disappointment.

The Healer’s Garden by Nina Pierce

Healer's Garden by Nina Pierce The Healer’s Garden gives a glimpse at a world in the future where society is mostly made up of women. The relationships are also primarily women with women. A virus had come along and wiped out most of the male population so the men were kept separated from the women. Each woman is required by the government to produce two children. The remaining men are used as breeders to continue the human race. Its an honor to bear a female child, but not as much of an honor to bear a male child.

It is Jahara Hriznek’s turn to bear her two children. She is in a relationship and doesn’t want to accept the government decree, but has no choice. She travels to The Garden of Serenity to fulfill her obligation. Brenimyn is the head instructor and a breeder at the Garden. He’s attracted to Jahara and wants to pursue her. He believes she is the woman who will fulfill his destiny and sets about to find that out.

The overall concept of the story was intriguing. A female run society where males are primarily used for breeding. And women being required to breed by a governmental decree is an intriguing idea. There was one area of the book where I thought it got a little too far out, but overall the storyline definitely kept my interest. I was fascinated by reading about Jahara’s initial aversion to mating with a breeder as being disgusted by the male race is a foreign concept to me. The interplay between Jahara and Brenimyn is definitely passionate and enjoyable to read.

The reactions of the women to seeing a man for the first time, to the sex scenes between the two lovers were interesting. I would place the book in the adult category due to the nature of the book. The book does contain many F/F scenes in addition to M/F scenes. If you’re looking for something slightly different in the sci-fi/paranormal catagory, then you may enjoy this book. It keeps the reader interested from the very first page.

Beneath a Yankee Sky by J.M. Snyder

Beneath a Yankee Sky continues the romance of Caleb and Brance set forth in Under a Confederate Moon. This time the story unfolds through the eyes of the more dominate of the partners, Brance. Running from the war and trappers who would have their were-cat hides for the right price, the couple forms a more intimate bond. With more action and drama then before, Brance takes the lead as the “caretaker”. He is always acutely aware of the safety and needs of his companion.

This time the relationship grows stronger and deeper. While the lusty fervor of the earlier story is ever present, it is quelled by exploring the tender nuances of love and the sensuality inherent between spouses. Still enchanting are the details of the painful metamorphosis from human to bobcat. I enjoyed this installment as much as the last, possibly even more. This is one to pick up on a lazy afternoon if you enjoy male/male eroticism and romance.

Under a Confederate Moon by J.M. Snyder

Set during the Civil War, Under a Confederate Moon follows a burgeoning love affair between two soldiers that find themselves on opposing sides of the battle. The bond the two men share as were-cats provides a stimulating twist to the age old tale of longing to find that other person who can fully understand who you are. This story is told from the perspective of young Caleb, a playful submissive and confederate soldier. His love interest Brance, a more mature Yankee, encourages Caleb to take control when thing go awry.

While erotically stimulating, the overt sexuality is tempered with long prose of deeper love and passion - the unexplained draw one feels to a new lover that simply feels right and asks you to put yourself on the line for another person. The story offers the reader a glimpse into the primal world of raw animal instinct with descriptions of the passion felt by the men in feline form. It sensorially teases to the forefront not only touch and desire, but smells, sight and feelings, with the transitions from human to bobcat being detailed and enticing. This is a good read for anyone who delights in male/male eroticism.
