Girl in the Gears by E. Chris Garrison

Girl in the Gears (Trans-Continental) (Volume 1) E. Chris GarrisonAbandoning the promising career before her, Ida runs off to join the circus. Although she feels more sure of herself in her new persona, she never really makes friends at her new job. When Duffy Holloway shows up poking around, Ida is reluctant and suspicious. She quickly finds herself caught up in trouble with Duffy and a rollercoaster adventure begins.

This one was very well-written and full to the brim with ingenuity, fun and suspense. These two characters were like trouble-making, feminine MacGyvers I could not help but love. Garrison did a great job of slowly revealing Ida’s past and weaving in the backstory for both characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced short story. Girl In The Gears was impossible to put down. I read it in a day and hope to see more about these two lovely ladies in the very near future.

About AJ

Blessed by parents who read to her in the womb, AJ learned to read by the age of 3. She now has an entire room dedicated to reading, with shelves of books stacked to the ceiling, in addition to a stack of books in every room. Her obsession with the written word eventually developed into the desire to write her own stories. Someone saw talent in her and she found work as a Writer/Editor. It was pure heaven. Her husband, who rarely read a book, caught the fever and is now engrossed in another series of books. Passing on the tradition of reading to her child in the womb, her daughter now sleeps in a room with stacks of books surrounding her and just won an award for logging the most reading time in a school with over 500 students.
