Abandoning the promising career before her, Ida runs off to join the circus. Although she feels more sure of herself in her new persona, she never really makes friends at her new job. When Duffy Holloway shows up poking around, Ida is reluctant and suspicious. She quickly finds herself caught up in trouble with Duffy and a rollercoaster adventure begins.
This one was very well-written and full to the brim with ingenuity, fun and suspense. These two characters were like trouble-making, feminine MacGyvers I could not help but love. Garrison did a great job of slowly revealing Ida’s past and weaving in the backstory for both characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced short story. Girl In The Gears was impossible to put down. I read it in a day and hope to see more about these two lovely ladies in the very near future.
