Okay welcome to this week’s poll for our bloody birthday bash!! We randomly asked readers online who their favorite shapeshifters were. There was a pretty solid turn out for nominees this time around, several shifters were nominated multiple times. So, that was how we determined who would be shifting who in the poll this week! We have officially crossed the 1500 post mark SO, now the tote bag of swag has been added to the prize pile! Make it 2500 by Friday and I will put another Vamp Girl Tote with Swag in the pile!! Just to clarify you are entering to win a TOTE with author swag not the mug you see below. 
Since I am slightly better prepared this week than last week, this is our official POLL post. You can come here to tell us why you love your shifters and who you think should win. i voted for Curran because my favourite shifter wasn’t there - Sam Roth from Maggie Stiefvater’s “Shiver”, which isn’t even out yet. but i’ve been in love with the story for AGES now. also love Kieren from “Tantalize”, and Mercy from Patricia Briggs!
I had to go with Sam. I just love the Sookie Stackhouse series and True Blood.
Adam from the Mercy Thompson series, because he can be warm and caring when needed and yet take charge being authoritative as needed

Love Sam - Havent’ gotten through all the books but I sure wish he and Sookie would get together. Adam is good too but… Sam has my vote.
I voted for Vane Katalakis by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Not only is he gorgeous, but he is sensitive, loyal, and has an ingrained sense of responsibility. Even when he feels he is fighting a loosing battle, he refuses to give up and take care of those who rely on him.
I vote for Vane! He’s great! Plus, he’s got one of the coolest girls around, Bride!

Vane from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books gets my vote. He’s hot, he’s got SO many hidden talents and he loved Bride just the way she was…oh yeah and he knows some kick ass Dark hunters to boot. Can’t be beat. I agree with DD03 that Smokey IS hot though. Vane just has my loyalty. He doesn’t play the games Smokey does.
I had to vote Marc and Faythe from Rachel Vincent’s catshifter series. It’s one of my favorites!
I picked Vane, cause he is hawt! If I could pick a runner up, I’d pick Daniel Frey, cause I think petting a kitty cat like him would be all kinds of fun.
My fav were has to be LKH’s Wereleopard Nathaniel. Sexy and a true sweetheart what more can a girl ask for =)

Voted for Adam from the Mercy Thompson movie because of the way he acted after he found Mercy in the garage. She’d just been beaten and brutalized and he was wonderful in an “Awwwww!” sort of way. Tears people. There were tears.
Hoohoo I am voter number 45; I voted for Kitty Norville by Carrie Vaughn since that is my next next next author in the to be read pile. I would have voted for Jake by Linda Wisdom if he was in the poll.
I voted for Elena and Clay. Both are such strong characters in a great series. I am very happy with how things are turning out for them currently. Cant wait to see though what happens next.

It was tough to choose between Smokey and Vane, but I went with Vane! He is so sexy, yet so gentle with Bride! And he is so clueless, but in a good way!

I voted for Nathaniel because he’s the only one of the shifters I know from the lot. Besides he’s got great hair and always smells of vanilla, so what’s there not to love?

I had to choose Sam Merlotte from Charlaine Harris, although this was tough. I just always love how Sam turns into a collie and the humor in this shift
Oh there are so many to pick from but, my choice would be Vane from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Night Play.
difficult desicion, between Smokey and Vane. Dragon or werewolf. I love the dark-were-dream-hunter books and Vane’s book was awesome, but a werewolf can’t beat a dragon who can fly except Vane has time-travel magic which I right now wish I had.

For me it was between Vane (Kenyon) and Nathaniel (Hamilton) both for different reasons, though had to go with Vane. Mainly because he’s so, well, lovable.
Elena and Clay no question about it. Armstrong made me realise that weres are sexy, and some scenes made me melt.
I voted for Vane Kattalakis………I’ve just always loved him, since I first read about him. He’s sexy, loveable, and just have a thing for Sherri’s shifters!! Had Fang been up there for a choice, I’d have had a hard time choosing between them!!
I voted for Adam, but my favourite shifter wasn’t on the list :-(. If he was in the poll Wren from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Unleash the Night would have got my vote every time.
I voted for Vane. I love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s shape shifters; they are strong but gentle at the same time. I’ m glad there weren’t two of them because then I’d had a hard time choosing. And Vane is just a perfect representative of Sherrilyn’s shifters.

Adam because he is so devoted to those he loves and a awesome leader to boot. He’s also patient, which is a rare trait among Alpha characters. It doesn’t hurt that he’s sexy either.
It’s gotta be Smokey. That whole power thing he has going on is so unbelieveably hawt!
It was a tough choice because the list contained all of my favorites, but I had to go with Curran. A hot alpha with a sense of humor, dedication and determination to win Kate over and unwavering loyalty to all of those in his pack. Oh, and the way he took in Derek. Sigh… the perfect package!
Great list. Flipped a dime and chose Kitty Norville. She is Kick A$$ and shows that being a shifter isn’t all gravy but you can make it work for you.
I voted for Elena and Clay, because they have had to really work hard at making their relationship work-and hey, they have twins, they deserve to win!

Since we can’t vote for two. I chose Vane. I can’t help it. His was the first book I read and just absolutely fell head over hells in love with. My second choice has to be Adam from Patricia Briggs. There is just something very sexy and commanding about him that he would forever stand out. *Sigh* These two can certainly heat up plenty of ladies dreams. *Sigh*
Vane is the best because he values a woman for who she truly is and not just for her packaging. You have to love him!! It is a rare man or shapeshifter that values you inner beauty above all rest. They make an awesome couple and Kenyon deserves many accolades for making her supernatural characters so real.
I voted for Vane because he is a dynamic force to be reckoned with, and because he was able to accept Bride as a worthy mate, not judging her by appearance but by what was in her heart. Any man who can do that wins hands down in my book.

OK slept in today after migraine last nite but got in at vote 141…… as my other SK suggestion wasn’t there I went with Vane….(Wren is a sweety too) but Vane and his lucky plus sized (like me) wife Bride as an awesome couple…..honorable mentions go to Faith and Marc, Elana and Clay and Drake….who doesn’t love a hot dragon who can admit out loud everyday that he loves you!!! Augh! I adore more than half the list (and the others… just becuase I haven’t read the stories yet). Okay, I am voting for Sam. Mainly because it took Sookie forever to figure out he was a shifter. I haven’t seen True Blood yet so not sure how the doggie looks there, but the way Charlaine describes him in the book made me love him (and I’m a cat person!).

I voted for Nathanial the character from the Anita Blake series…Just because he was the first I thought of when hearing “who is your favorite shifter” He is sexy as hell and as the story goes on you see nathanial growing and becoming stronger and more sure of himself. He lacked so much self esteme, and it keeps getting better. Also I did love Vane and brides story. It was a great story that I couldnt put down, Then again I also really liked Dragonswan by sherrily kenyon and wished that it was a full book and not a booklet.

I voted for Vane. I really liked the fact that he loved Bride the way she was. It gives us plus-sized girls the idea that it doesn’t matter if your a tig or not, a man will love you for who you are or at least that’s how it should be.

Curran but if Raphael or Derek were nominees he may have lost out. Those books are amazing.
Curran! Because when Kate tries to save the world single handed, she tends to save the world at the cost of her own life/safety, and even though they didn’t get along at first, Curran repeatedly chooses to accept pain and injuries in order to save her. Plus, I am far more anxious to read the next magic book than I am for any of the other series.

Curran should win. He is one of the few shapeshifters that carry the personality of this beast in his man shape. All Ilona’s shapeshifters are like this but Curran stands above them as the true alpha male.

Adam from Mercy Thompson series. He can be tough, decisive, and in charge when he needs to be, but also tender and kind when that is called for.

ok, this was way tougher than choosing a favorite vampire. But after much thought, I have to choose Adam from Patricia Briggs. I just recently read the Mercy Thompson series and I really think Adam has shown he is a strong Alpha, but has a big heart,too. It shows in his love for his daughter and I do believe he truly loves Mercy. Plus, he lets her be herself. He isnt TOO controlling. Ok, now I may have to go by the shop and pick up an IVY mug. I voted for her, after all.
oh yeah, and how come Keri Arthur’s Riley Jensen isn’t on the list? WOW! I would have picked her.

Adam is willing to make the hard calls (drink the fairy juice Mercy) even when he thinks she’ll hate him for it. Gotta love that kind of dedication to doing right in a wolf.
Curran knowingly gets third degree burns over his entire body to save someone who helped the Pack. He also drive a jeep (and I love jeeps).
It’s hard but Curran due to showing the head of the loup, who caused the massacre, at the second meeting. That is what got me on his side, he may act like an a$$ (you can call me Lord) however there is a deep streak of caring for the feelings, and fears, of others.

I’ve been a Nathaniel fan for far longer than I have any of the other shifters so my vote had to be for him. That boy is hot and it’s nice to see him finally starting to grow as a character.
This was a hard one for me…but I decided on Nathaniel…He’s just too cute for words.

Some tough choices, but I had to go with Elena and Clay. Otherworld is a great series. I love Clay’s character because most of the time he’s so animalistic and simple almost to a dumb fault, yet can get so vulnerable and flustered just by Elena. And I guess my heart has softened even more for Elena since she refused to stop kicking ass even while pregnant, and I’m expecting my own (although probably not a shifter, but fingers crossed.)
It has to be Curran from the Kate Daniels Series, he is AMAZING…end of!

Ihaveto say that the dragons are my favorite, but add that I love them all. I also have a special place in my heart for my first shifter, anita Blake’s Richard. He needs a lot of help, but has a good heart.

I voted for Curran, though it was really, really hard. I love a good portion of shape shifters on the list, but I don’t think any of them make me swoon as much as Curran. He’s such a lovable bastard and I love how he plays cat and mouse with Kate.

I voted for Marc and Faythe because I think they make such a great couple, despite their problems. They’re also so funny and so well written that they are completely believable. Go Rachel!
Oh, Curran. Curran by far. He’s pretty good at letting Kate alone do her job, but he’s not afraid to step in when she needs help.
My favorite scene is in Magic Strikes when they team up with Dali for their first fight in the Midnight Games. All the other teams have uniforms or costumes or scary outfits or magical forms. Curran goes into the fight wearing an old t-shirt with the arms ripped out and a faded pair of jeans. There’s nothing sexier than utter confidence and the skill and strength to back it up.
Voted for Curran! On the outside he may seem arrogant but he’s definitely a good alpha who cares for his pack-and the scenes with kate is definitely hot!
I chose Curran. I really like Adam and Vane too, but Curran’s scenes are the ones I wait for the most when reading the different series.

I love shapeshifters, I wish that I could be one. I voted for Drake because he’s really great and I was attached to him the first time I read about him.

Curran!! - b/c they made him fun (ok and steamy hot). They made the character have some depth not just me tarzan (shapeshifer lion) you jane ( weak woman). He acts as mother and father to approx 1300 shapeshifter, each with different needs and problems and still has that completely male characteristic of not really understanding the emotional root of the problem ( a bunch of shaking the head and why me) but cutting to the chase and getting at the end game solution.
I love Smokey by Yasmine Galemorn - How cool is a dragon who takes human form - he is smoking hot!

Kitty the Werewolf! Because she’s not a wild animal, she’s a woman born in the last third of the 20th Century and acts like it all the way, whether dealing with werewolf politics, vampires, or other humans. Her weapons are not tooth and claw, but her mind, her radio show, and her talent for social networking. And she is bringing the shapeshifter community together with what seems like the most obvious venue in the world - once she thought of it. You go, Kitty!
I voted for Curran because there is so much we don’t know about him yet, and that keeps me very interested in him and his story. Plus, he is crazy hot!

I voted for Curran. It was a hard choice, but I have to say that of all the shapshifters listed, this character has changed the least throughout the series.
It would have been an even harder choice if Patricia Brigg’s shifter had been Sam rather than Adam. I just can’t warm to that character. I think Sam’s vulnerability make him far more likeable.
I voted for Smokey as his long hair puts him over the top of all the other shape-shifters. Adam is a close second and it has nothing to do with hair. hehehe.
It has to be Curran; if only for vividness of his particular blend of ruthlessness, honour, and the moodswinging temptation to either belt him one or giggle.

I AM PISSED you didn’t THINK to add Riley Jensen. How can you who read so many books miss a book that has spent time the best seller book list last month.
Riley is kick ass, loves sex, smart ass, I can’t think of hazlenut coffee without thinking of her and chocolate. I LOVE her attitude and her always getting into trouble. Whether smarmouthing her boss or the “Carmel Cow”. She makes me laugh so hard I forget it’s a book. Here is an author ( like Merry Gentry ) who shows women it’s okay to have several men to sleep with an not LOVE. Or to love more then one at a time. Though I’m jealous they don’t worry about diseases.
I went with Nathinel because he’s so damn sweet and coming into his own. Elena I know kicks ass and so does Smoky. But damn it all. WHY NOT RILEY.

I voted for Kitty Norville by Carrie Vaughn she’s tough when she needs to be and level headed most of the time and makes the shifting work for her and her career.

I went with Adam because if I was to date/marry one were, he would be the one.
It’s dang close between Adam and Curran, but I finally went with Curran because I actually like Sam better than Adam, so Curran wins by default since Sam wasn’t there.!
I was torn between Elena and Clay versus Faythe and Marc. I really didn’t know who to choose. Although there were still even more shifters I wanted to choose it came down to these two. In the end I chose Faythe and Marc. It was a tough choice, but I still love the others!!

Curran all the way. He is sweet in his own special way. Hilarious in the way he treats Kate despite her “alpha” ways. You know if you need him, he would do anything and everything to get to you. Plus, he treats his people right including the younger people. Inspiring. Book three Magic Strikes sealed the deal. One and two were fun, but Strikes had the background explanations. OM!
Who wouldn’t vote for Vane? He is the epitome of what I find sexy in a man. And just to quote the AG herself……”His long wavy dark brown hair was worn back into a sexy ponytail. It was a tough decision, between Nathaniel from LKH and Marc and Faythe, but I went with Nathaniel. Such an evolution of this character, every book reflects his new found maturity and personal strength, really fascinating.

Voted for Sam Merlotte from Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series. This is one of my all time fave series and I’m a new fan of the books thanks to the HBO show Tru Blood. This is probably why I voted for Sam because he is so cute on the show and it was the best reveal of the book/show to find out that the dog was Sam when he woke up as a naked man in her bed! Loved him being the cute puppy dog that follows her around. Oh, and the running through the woods naked wasn’t bad either.
Voted for Elena and Clay even though Jeremy is totally my #1 werewolf! At least they’re from the same series ^.^

I voted for Adam I think he is so cool. I think that he is a true alpha male he sounds super sexy, totally wish he was my neighbor. I think he has great taste in women I love Mercy. She is my fav female shifter then come Elena and Kitty.

I stand 100% behind my vote for Daniel Frey from Jeanne Stein’s books. I have never ever been a fan of shifters for one reason or another, no matter which book I read. Something was different about Frey though. He has intelligence, good people skills, and is a respectable human being. There is something special about the way Jeanne writes about him, as if he is a man who happens to be a shifter. It is clearly an integral part of his nature, yet it in no way dominates who he is - it just adds to it and makes him that much more of a man.

I struggled between Marc and Faythe and Clay and Elena but I went with the latter because Armstrong’s series was what really got me into urban fantasy. Elena and Clay are such strong characters and their chemistry was enough to make me sizzle.

Kitty all the way! She is a wonderful powerful woman in the paranormal genre. She is full of fears everyone of has and yet she has the strength to act and not just be passive. She is willing to work for her relationship as well as the problems of being a werewolf.
Trust me to do a “Riley” thing open mouth insert paw…. I am not sure if you deleted my rant on Riley. But, to get Keri’s e-newletter she’d be here all day online floored me. I had NO CLUE.

I adore the way Carrie Vaughn uses werewolves and vampires to explore how society treats the Other.
I voted Marc & Faythe by Rachel Vincent because they have such a classic love story - he’s from the wrong side of the tracks ( a stray) and she is the princess (the alpha’s daughter) and they are constantly torn apart from each other, either by circumstances or their own stubbornness. But when they are together…sparks fly.
I have to go with Marc and Faythe, the fireworks that those 2 have, just leaves me breathless!

While I love Adam, Elena & Clay, and Kitty Norville rocks as well, none of them come near The Beast Lord of Atlanta. Curran is in a class by himself, rivaled only in awesomeness by Briggs’ Mercedes Thompson, who wasn’t a choice.

I voted for Nathaniel by Laurell K. Hamilton; if you’ve read the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series, then you indeed understand why.
1) Because Nathaniel is super cute and cuddling (like Sigmund-Anita’s favorite stuffed peguin-but better) I love his ankle-length hair and his lavender eyes.
2) Partly because of his such-close attachment to Anita and his submisiveness (which I do not know if that changes because I’m currently working on the 12th book in the series-Incubus Dreams)
3) And finally, his tormented pass. Which just adds to the character and persona that is Nathaniel!

it’s true that i have many favorite shifters among the books i’ve read. Like Adam and Mercy from Patricia Briggs, or like Anita with Richard and Jean Cleude or with Micah and Nathanial from LKH. And Kitty and Ben from Carrie Vaughn or Elena and Clay from Kelley Armstrong.
But my most favorite couple is Marc and Faythe. They’re both stong willed and the connection they have is stronger than any of these other couples. Though i feel like im part of the action in the books i read, i feel like im actually IN the storyline, with the characters, you know?
My point is that Marc and Faythe take the gold. Hands, i mean paws down LOL.

I was really torn between Adam and Marc/Faythe, but in the end, I just couldn’t say no to the latter. Especially since in the last book, I was thinking about how I would totally throw the letter and ring too, if I were in Faythe’s position… and then also scramble for it…. Besides, who can say no to Marc with his cute persistence? Plus they listen to Areosmith. That just seals the deal. Love Adam, honestly - no one else I know does, which always puts me out - but in this poll, I’m going for Marc/Faythe.

VANE vs CURRAN, CURRAN vs VANE…… before a read the MAGIC books by Ilona Andrews I would have said VANE, hands down because he liked Bride as she was, a BBW, and didn’t try to change her. But, there is something about Curran, sigh….
I love the relationship between Marc & Faythe. You see a little of Faythe’s father in Marc at what he must have been like when he was younger and the fact that no matter what Faythe does, he’ll always stand by her side.
