Warehouse 13, Monday 9:00 EST, SyFy
The show came back strong, and two things I suspected turned out to be true. First, the team raced to find a way to turn back time to before the bomb in order to prevent the destruction of the warehouse. Second, we learned that Mrs. Frederic is indeed organically connected to the warehouse – a very interesting idea that I hope we hear more about later.
In the second episode, Steve was resurrected using the metronome, and this week we saw that there is some kind of weird physical connection between he and Claudia now. It appears that using her energy to help bring him back must have somehow exchanged something between them. I find this concept very intriguing. This week’s episode demonstrated a very interesting parallel between the two brothers, with the one giving up his own life to save his brother, and Claudia and Steve. What do you think is going on?
The story arc for the season revolves around the repercussions surrounding Artie’s use of the astrolabe to turn back time, as well as his disturbing vision of Claudia stabbing him. What do you think of this storyline?
What do you think of the season so far?
True Blood, Sunday 9:00 EST, HBO
I am still a couple of episodes behind on the show, so will only be discussing up through episode seven, where the Authority vampires, along with Bill and Eric, drank a bit of the blood of Lilith and went on a rampage. Please resist spoilers beyond that point.
In that particular episode Sookie learns something about herself: since she is only half-faerie, her powers are finite and will eventually diminish. This news causes her to think about what it would be like to not have any powers, to be normal, and Sookie decides she would really like that turn of events.
I have kind of mixed feelings about the show right now. It seems to me to be trying to do too much. I don’t yet understand the connection of Terry’s problem to the whole. As wrenching as the story behind the source of his PTSD is, I’m not sure the digressions benefit the show. I also wish we were seeing more of Sookie.
How do you feel about the show so far this season?
Lost Girl, Friday 10:00 EST, SyFy
Unfortunately, I am also two episodes behind on this show. I will be discussing what has happened up through the genie episode.
So far, in addition to the various relationship changes, the most significant event has been Bo’s discovery that she is to play a part in defeating the coming evil. Do you trust Lachlan?
I’m sure everyone loved the body-switch episode, where we saw Dyson as Kenzie – that was completely hysterical! That was definitely one of my favorite scenes from the show this season.
What do you think of the show right now? Where do you think things may be headed? Please watch out for spoilers – I will be caught up for next time!
*Watchers, Grimm returns Monday, 8/13 at 10:00 EST, but I am unclear as to whether the whole season begins then or just the premiere. I will keep you posted as I hear.
Bitten by Books
I like how all this fantasy and scifi relates to me.
Lost Girl
Oh, I so loved the body-switching episode! Watching Dyson/Kenzi was worth the episode alone. I know they’re actors, but who knew he had that Kenzi-ness in him?! And Hale as Ciara grabbing his/her boobs. Priceless episode.
And yes, you need to catch up, it gets way more interesting!
Warehouse 13
I saw the first episode, but not the second. I think I need to go back and watch the last episode again because of the last 10 minutes of the premiere. Because I don’t remember how things finer details worked in the finale anymore.
But beyond that my favorite part had to be when Artie tried to fit in the tiny hole and couldn’t fit. And CLaudia being Claudia kept calling him Pooh Bear. Hilarious. I’ll have to get back to you on the second episode though, but I’m looking forward to it.
I also find it funny that Aaron Ashmore is on both shows as Nate and Jinks.
You know, I originally skipped the True Blood description. But after seeing everyone’s responses, I figure I’m so behind anyway, I might as well read it. Not to mention I saw this feature in Entertainment Weekly about a set they’re introducing to the show and then I got so shocked, I just had to come back here.
It looks like people are half and half with how the show is going. With me what’s hard about watching the show( with what I’ve seen at least), is reconciling the fact that I have to see this as an interpretation of the books, not an extension of them.
It’s so hard because, well I love the books and the characters and when the show doesn’t mesh with the story, things get mottled.
But eventually I will catch up with this, because one change I loved was keeping Lafayette alive and I have to see more of him!
Rae, it is nice to see Aaron Ashmore on both shows, for sure.
True Blood
I’m disappointed in True Blood, too. I won’t give any spoilers but the only characters that are remotely interesting to me this season are Alcide, Tara and Lafayette. I’m totally disliking any of the Authority storyline. I think the Hoyt storyline is stupid.
Lost Girl
I LOVED the Lost Girl episode with the body switching. Dyson made a hysterical Kenzie. I just wish they’d quit playing around the whole Dyson/Bo problem.
Grim
Looking forward to it!
Thanks for the reminder on Grimm! Will have to set the DVR but I am certain that hubby and I will be watching it. We’ve been waiting for new GRIMM! Hope we learn about a certain woman that entered on the last episode!
Agreed, Raonaid, agreed.
Lost Girl- I really really really LOVED the body switching scene, and they don’t trust Lachlan one bit.
True Blood- I really like the way this series is turning out. I have all four of the previous seasons volumes on disk. I will agree that I would like to see more of Sookie as she is the primary secondary character of the series the first of course, being Bill. The series certainly is different from the books, but, that’s what makes it so much fun.
Timothy, I kind of like it that the show and books are so different from one another, as it means we two art forms to enjoy regarding those characters.
I can’t wait for the new season of True Blood to come here. I’m still waiting to start watching Warehouse 13. And I admit I haven’t heard about Lost Girl Before, but I’ll see if it’s of interest to me.
Dovile, definitely give Lost Girl a try.
I had heard that True Blood wasn’t as good this season, but this doesn’t really affect me as I’m still on Season 1. Bad Myra! *gently slaps hand* I need to stop doing work and procrastinate by watching more True Blood! …Or at least find some time t fit in an episode or two.
I haven’t heard of Warehouse 13 or Lost Girl, but as they are both Sci-Fi, I think I’d be into them. Haven’t yet seen Grimm, but that’s because I have to many things on the go at the moment… One day I will finish a series!
I love Lost Girl. Kind of on the fence about the Ash. Not real sure that I trust him but he did SEEM sincere.
Oh, and the body switched episode, absolutely freaking hysterical. I’ve rewatched it three times now. An episode like that really showcases the actors range of abilities.
Oh boo! I dont watch any of these shows, I do watch Being Human though and I love that one!
Sara, Sam Huntington from Being Human (Josh) guests on Warehouse 13 tonight.
The Claudia and Steve is thing is interesting. I don’t know where it will take them but I bet it’s going to be a fun and life changing experience! I
just love it when Artie is on. He knows what it all means but he’s not telling! LOL
I had 10 teeth pulled and bottom dentures put in right after the pulling. I’ve not watched much more tv because my mouth throbs!!
Lisa, I hope your mouth is feeling better!
for me True BLodd is getting alittle wierd, this Authority thing is just strange
I started hated True Blood..I want to see something new and..nicer!
I agree with your comments regarding True Blood. I really don’t know if Terry’s PTSD storyline adds anything to the show. It certainly isn’t what makes me tune in each week. I love this show so much and really have never been disappointed with it, but this season started off really good and is now kind of just tapering off for me. I hope that changes
Lisa, I still enjoy the show, but feel it has branched off a bit too much. Every other season there has been a more cohesive feel to it that seems to be lacking this time.
I am so excited Warehouse 13 is back. My husband and myself absolutely love that show.
I’ve just started LOST GIRL, and I enjoy it so far…I’ve always loved Kris Holden-Ried, and I’m so happy to see him in a good vehicle for once. I’m sad to have missed the whole Bo/Dyson romance, so I’m hoping to catch up one of these days…
Trix, the season 1 DVD will be out soon — October, I think.
I don’t think I have watched any of these shows. I don’t watch much tv (mainly just Criminal Minds, BBT,…
One show that I really liked last season, but that got cancelled was Alcatraz. I loved the mystery & SciFi of them disappearing and then coming back but now guess I will never know what happened
June, I know what you mean about Alcatraz — I wish they could have at least a TV movie to tie up the loose ends.
Have the new episode of Grimm recorded and going to watch it shortly
