Watchers, some wild and crazy stuff has been happening on our shows. Beware spoilers…
Game of Thrones, Sunday 9:00 EST, HBO
We have never discussed this show in the column before, primarily because I never got to see it in first run. This year, however, I am watching as the show airs, and am curious how many of you would like to discuss it. If you have not watched this season yet but do follow the show, you probably don’t want to read further.
Of course, the big shock came at the end of the last episode, where Jaime Lannister, a despicable character for many reasons, does probably the only somewhat selfless act of his life and pays for it dearly. Wow.
Does anyone else feel as though the time flies by when this show is on?
Who are your favorite characters on the show? Is there someone you wish they’d get rid of? Do you have a favorite villain, someone you love to hate?
I like Tyrion, John Snow, and Arya best, I think.
Once Upon a Time, Sunday 8:00 EST, ABC
I unfortunately got behind on the show when I was out of town a couple of times, and it took me a while to catch up. I will say that the grumbling I heard earlier in the season, about the show not being as good, is something I just didn’t understand then, and I definitely feel as though the last several episodes have been particularly strong. What do you think?
To recap: we found out that Emma’s former boyfriend and Henry’s father is Rumpelstiltskin/ Mr. Gold’s son, Bae, meaning Rumpel is Henry’s grandfather. We discovered that Cora murdered Snow’s mother. In order to stop Cora, snow tricked Regina into performing the final act of a spell that killed Cora, and now she has to live with her choice (I think this was one of my favorite episodes of the show). We now know who the mysterious visitor in town is.
Was anyone else surprised by the revelation of the relationship between Cora and Rumplestiltskin?
What have been some of your favorite scenes from the last few episodes?
One of my favorite lines: “I’m not much of a cook, unless it involves apples” (Regina).
Being Human, SyFy
First off, the great news is that the show will indeed return for a Season 4. How could it not, after that cliff-hanger finale?
I will say that as much as I didn’t like Nora there for a bit (her vendetta against Aidan was a bit extreme), she certainly came around when he took the blame for Brin’s death.
Sally turning back into a ghost and Josh becoming a werewolf again were no big surprises, given that those were their original states of being in the beginning of the show, but what happened to them both in the finale was a shock. Where do you think Donna dragged Sally off to? Donna said it wasn’t limbo, which sort of implied Hell. And what the heck is going on with Josh? He is some huge werewolf now, and he was still in that form when daylight came. Your thoughts?
What about those mutant vampires?
And Aidan’s wife — I did not see that coming.
Fun quote: “You are one of the only people I know less weird as a ghost than you are as a person” (Aidan to Sally).
How did you like this season? What do you hope to see in Season 4?
The Vampire Diaries, Thursday 8:00 EST, The CW
The show has been off for a few weeks (it returns on 4/18), but the one thing I must say is that I am not a fan of “flipped-switch” Elena. What about you? I really hope they don’t try to sustain that too long.
Now Elena and Rebecca have teamed up to find Catherine and get the cure, eluding Damon in the process. I’m quite sure that no good can come from that pair.
How do you think this Silas story is going to end?
Fun quote: “Not to nitpick, but we evil villains usually have minions to pick up our dry cleaning” (Damon).
Grimm, Friday 9:00 EST, NBC
We still don’t know exactly what is going on with Renard’s brother, what he is up to.
It seems Juliet is getting her memories back. Do you think she will end up being one of those in on Nick’s “secret”? At this point, I really don’t see how she couldn’t be.
Adalind obviously set out to become pregnant (presumably by Renard), which I assume she will use a some sort of power play. I wonder if we will find out what her endgame is during this season.
Fun quote: “Maybe we got lucky this time and we’re just dealing with a normal, human psychopath” (Nick).
Lost Girl, Monday 10:00 EST, SyFy
So much has been going on, but I find myself wanting to discuss the last episode the most.
I knew something was weird about Isaac, but Lauren seemed so clueless. I guess she just wanted someone human to appreciate her abilities and was easily hoodwinked. But now we know what Isaac is really up to, and his actions have led the Morrigan to state that the Fae are the one true race and she declares war on humans, more or less.
It was nice that Hale told Kenzie of his feelings. I do wonder if that situation will go anywhere happy.
We also learned that Lauren’s real name is Karen, and that she is on the run for some reason. Any guesses?
How do you think the season will end? The finale airs on 4/22.
Happy viewing!
Bitten by Books

The bane of having Netflix is neglecting the shows you normally watch. Just the other day the hubby and I sat down and caught up with all the shows we dvred. Actually just yesterday I finished watching the last two episodes of Grimm…
There’s that HUGE trust issue between Nick and his Captain – not that I do not blame Nick one bit on. Though Nick now has more breathing space to discuss the truth behind some of the weirder behind the scenes with the cases. With Hank and the captain he doesn’t have to “hide” or “fabricate a story”.
This freedom I feel helps Nick do what he needs done. Think it’s inevitable that Juliet learns the full truth about Nick. That was the one strain on their relationship, the reason she refuted to marrying him because of that piece of his life he shielded and secreted from her.
Still like “Is this yours. I am not your sock’s keeper.” LOL Mm, I heartily approve of Munro and Rosalie’s budding romance going on. SO cute! Munro deserves a good person.
Definitely a power play. Adalind has an agenda and now that she’s pregnant, she is going to use it.
Game of thrones – sadly I am missing this season. Hubby and I done away with HBO along with Showtime to give us more money breathing room. Just seemed really stupid to pay that chunk of change out for one season and never bother watching the channel again (and I don’t watch True Blood)
And it doesn’t bother me about spoilers.
Mm, at the end of season two I remember really liking the female knight who was transporting Jaime Lannister. The grief that woman got for performing a man’s task.
Do remember that I wanted Geoffrey to take a flying leap off the castle. He’s proving to be an evil little twerp. His mother is not better. Grandfather is proving to be worse of the lot. But out of the Lannisters I liked Tyrion. I heard/read an article the actor playing him is not returning for Season four, and so they are getting a replacement.
But yeah I liked little Arya. She has more spine than her older sister.
I have pretty much been watching Vampire Diaries despite Elena-her being a vampire (emotions on or off) has not changed how I feel about that. I am going to blame this on the writers because I freaking love Katherine-so I tip my hat to Nina b/c she is acting the hell out of the material-but yeah, Elena is pretty much the worst.
Kristin, I’m hoping we will get the real Elena back. As a vamp, fine, but no humanity, nope.
I only watch Game of Thrones and Lost Girl. Games of Thrones is awesome. I can’t wait till Sunday night to watch it. I am totally addicted and its kinda funny that its the only book made show that I prefer the show to the books. The books are just so hard o read because of all the descriptions. Lost Girl I just recently found and am o far loving. I’m in the middle of season 2 and can’t wait for season 3.
I must have an unhealthy obsession with tv; I watch every single one of these shows (but GOT is on netflix so I had to scroll through that part quickly.)
Flipped switch Elena doesn’t bother me the way she’s acting it, but now she’s pretty much exactly like Katherine (so I guess they really have to keep on that different hair thing to make sure you can tell them apart.) I think she’s better than exasperating Elena from season 1 “Stefan I love you” (30 minutes later) “Stefan what are you doing, I can’t be with you.”
I’ve been enjoying Grimm a lot more lately. I kind of felt like through most of the first season I was watching out of a strange loyalty to paranormal shows and the only character I really liked was Monroe.
And I thought Aidan’s wife was a fantastic cliffhanger. I like Sally, but there have been a few ‘where is Sally’s ghost now’ cliffhangers.
Ditto on the obssesive tv watching! I always fee like I’mwatching too much. Especially when I schedulethings around watching the show.
I haven’t watched Game of Thrones. I was totally caught up in reading the books but that seemed to come to a crawl with the tv thing.
Once Upon a Time I caught at the beginning of it but I haven’t watched tv for a couple of years so…
Same thing with Grim.
The Vampire Diaries has never been one that I watched.
Now Being Human and Lost Girl are the ones that I will say I have missed. I really need to get caught up on those two.
I can’t wait to see the new season of Game of Thrones, the series has really drawn me in.
LOST GIRL is the only show here that I watch regularly, and I’ve missed it for a couple of weeks. I’m wondering if the developments with Lauren are a way for the writers to shake up her relationship with Bo somehow, and lead Bo back to Dyson (a pairing I wish I had seen when it originally happened-always love Kris Holden-Ried!).
I’m a fan of Being Human and enjoyed this season. I like that Sally is a ghost again and that Josh is back to being a werewolf. Aidan’s wife was a surprise. I wonder what will happen with the mutant vampires next season.
I tend to watch these shows in a marathon so just watched all of Being Human. While I’m glad Josh and Sally got to re-experience “normal” life, I’m glad to see the show going back to normal. I was so glad to see Aiden have a relationship and wonder who the girl getting out of the cab is.
Just watched the first three episodes of Lost Girl and can’t wait to see if Bo & Dyson hook up again. I’m sorry, I just don’t think Bo and Lauren are as hot together as the wolf & the succubi.
Lisa, the woman getting out of the cab at the end of BH is Aidan’s wife.
I honestly have never ever watched a full episode of GoT. That is solely because I want to read the series first. I tried reading Storm of Swords before it premiered on TV, but I was too slow. I took the chance and tried to watch a recent episode, and I stumbled on a spoiler and immediately outed the television. SIgh. I really got to read up if I ever want to watch this season. Or maybe I should just get the first two seasons and watch them.
LOVE Game of Thrones. Though I havent gotten a chance to watch this past weeks. I do really love Robb Stark(granted it could be because he’s gorgeous!) I also really enjoy Arya’s scenes. The only show on your list I dont watch is the Vampire Diaries. I really need to. I couldnt get into the book is why I originally didnt watch the show but everyone says I need to give it a chance. I have it on my netflix so Im going to have to cave and have a marathon.
