Being Human

Screen Bites: A Fitting End: Saying Goodbye to Being Human

Well, Watchers, the last episode aired a couple of weeks ago, closing out a four-year-run of what I thought was a great show. I know a lot of people said they preferred the British version, but I have to say that I actually came to like this US version better than the other, which for me went off the rails at the end of its second season.

I really felt as though the loose ends were tied up, and that the show ended on a hopeful note, with a happy ending for Josh and Nora and a potential one for Sally and Aidan, whether apart or together. Do you agree or disagree?

What did you think of the budding romance between Sally and Aidan? Did it make sense to you?

Who was your favorite roomie?

Who were your favorite secondary characters?

Which villains did you find the creepiest?

Favorite storylines or episodes?

Are there any scenes that have stayed with you?

One of the issues the show explored was what it means to be human: is it a physical state, or a state of mind? Throughout the four seasons the characters sought the answer to this question, and I think they found it.

Hard as it was to say good-bye to Aidan, Josh, Nora, and Sally, I think the actors, writers and producers should be pleased and satisfied with the characters and world they created.

  1. I loved the music choices

  2. I never saw the show (and the bits I’d see while waiting for LOST GIRL seemed kind of gory), but it’s good to know that the US version was worthy!

  3. I was pretty happy with the way it ended. My favorite episode by far was the one (maybe around 4th to last?) where Sally goes back in time and lives the whole year in the alternate reality. Where her and Aidan’s relationship unfolds, she becomes the were, etc. As far as creepy villains go, was there really anyone creepier than the little housegirl?
I’ve heard from other people that the UK version was better, but I haven’t heard definitively whether they were able to end it on their own terms. As far as I know it just got canceled. If that’s the case I couldn’t start it; the lack of any kind of closure would make me crazy.

    • Bethany, I am completely with you on creepy Ramona-pretty much the worst by far, in my book. :)

I never did see the last half of the 4th season of the British version, or any of the 5th (they disappeared when my DVR died), but I am pretty sure that they knew from the beginning that it would be the last season. I do plan to watch it at some point.

  4. I’ll have to give it another shot since it is finished now- I can just binge watch then :)

  5. I haven’t watched any of this season but I do have it to binge watch. I”m sorry to heat that this is the last season, but I’ll savor every minute of it right till the end.
