  1. I almost never notice. Usually I only notice if I am on amazon and see the “publisher set the price” thing they have near the check out but it pings my radar for a moment and then it is gone.

  2. While I can’t say I never notice, I generally don’t pay too much attention, and I usually do not base my decision on whether I buy it or not on the publisher.

  3. There was a time when which publisher put out a book never phased me, but since the Agency Pricing Model was put in place, I rarely, if ever, buy from the big publishing houses. They need to be offered on sale (and below my price sticking point) for me to get it. I’d much rather support the small presses and self-published authors.

  4. Sometimes I notice who the publisher is but I don’t purchase books based on it. If the story sounds good I buy the book. I don’t care if they are self published, represented by a major pub or somewhere in the middle.

  5. With the exception of a few fantasy and SciFi imprints, I don’t generally notice. It certainly doesn’t influence my purchasing

  6. I buy books based on authors I like, reviews of books by authors I like, if something catches my eye of a book by an author of whom I’ve not heard. I buy e-books only if that is the only way I can get an author I like. I prefer by far, print editions.

  7. It’s not a deciding factor, but I do notice the publisher.

  8. I have a few publishers that always catch my attention but in general other factors come before who published the book in my reading choices.

  9. Since I read a lot of m/m, I do tend to have more confidence choosing a new author from a publisher whose work I trust (Dreamspinner, Samhain, Riptide, et al). It’s not the overriding factor, though, especially if I can read a sample first.

  10. I usually notice the publisher but it’s not a factor in my decision.

  11. i follow authors, not publishers. If an author changes publishers, or even goes self-published, I will follow him/her.

  12. I voted for ‘other.’ I generally never really notice, but if something were to happen with a publisher that made me upset, I think I would start at least trying to notice so as to avoid buying books from that publisher. Although I would probably be torn, as it wouldn’t be the authors’ faults for what their publisher did or said.

  13. I have some publishers I like and I take note of them, but I usually choose books by author or story, so the publisher doesn’t matter much to me.

  14. Generally I pay little to no attention to whatever publisher that releases the books I read and enjoy. It still plays no importance to me. The only reason I’m aware is because of reviewing purposes. I must include the publisher in the review format.

  15. I don’t think its very important but I like to take notice of the publishers name just in case I like the book then I may look at other things from that publisher. However, I think the author is more important to me.

  16. I don’t really notice.

  17. Sometimes it is important if I am looking for a specific author but just going to a book store or looking at an online bookstore-it’s what captures my interest.

  18. Even though I do take notice of the publisher, it is not my primary reason for purchasing a book.

  19. I don’t pay attention at all. Should I be?

  20. I rarely take notice of publisher, because I usually base my purchases on author, genre, and synopsis. Besides, with how expensive books from big time publishers are, I can’t afford to buy their books unless they are on sale or go through a major markdown. It’s better to keep an open mind, and be willing to try smaller less known publishers, and self-published works….it’s often cheaper, and less likely to kill your wallet.

  21. not that important

  22. not that important

  23. I started always getting Avon Romances because that was all I knew. Now I have falling in love with Entangled Publishing, Samhain Publishing, St. Martin’s Press & Sourcebooks.

  24. I don’t usually notice the company.

  25. I have a few publishers I really like but usually base my book choice off of other factors (story, author, genre)

  26. I do have a few publishers I really like, but for me, it’s typically the author that draws me to a book.

  27. not important at all

  28. I picked
    1, I never Notice
    2. It’s not Important, but I do take not of who the publisher is

really only do that some time .most of the time I don’t even notice.

  29. I look over a book then look at the publisher, but it really does not matter the publisher, if I want the book, I buy it.

  30. I doubt I notice until I post a review who the publisher is,

  31. I noticed who the publisher is when I read, but the author & genre are the most important things to me.

  32. I follow the author not the publisher, and since I started buying all my books for my Nook I prefer them self-published (typically less expensive).
