POLL DISCUSSION: Pick Your Favorite Book to Screen Adaptation! Round 1

Welcome to the poll of the week!! Polling runs through Sunday, September 7th. How to participate: FIRST VOTE on the bottom RIGHT HAND SIDE of the site. Next stop here to tell us which three Book to Screen Adaptation (this can be a book to a movie OR TV show) that you picked for Round ONE. and why you chose your answers. The only VOTES that count are the ones on the actual poll not the comments! This is a special poll round for the first of three rounds. There will be 25 series for round one, 25 round for round two and 27 for round three. We will have a final round in week four to determine who is the winner from the top FIVE of rounds one through three.

We took the READER nominations from last week, verified them, then put them into a spreadsheet, sorted alphabetically by name and then started at the top of the list for this round.

PLEASE NOTE: We can’t add every Book to Screen Adaptation out there or this would be the only poll we would have on the site ever again. :) There are HUNDREDS of fantastic adaptations out there now. Thank you for understanding and remember this is for FUN, it isn’t for a prize or prestige.

Please comment as MUCH as you like. We want to hear from AUTHORS AND READERS alike! Choose wisely, as you only get 3 votes, though you can comment below as much as you like!

Feel free to use the banner at the top of this post. Put it on your blogs, groups etc. to let your FANS and friends know about the poll! Link back to this post here:

  1. Ends on my birthday, coolness..

I voted for Blood Ties, Dresden Files, and Game of Thrones. I may not have read the books but I love the adaption….

  2. I picked FEVER PITCH…while the romance isn’t my favorite, the examination of sports fandom rang uncomfortably true!

  3. Alice in Wonderland (Disney), The Dresden Files (still sad it got cancelled), and Dracula (the Gary Oldman version despite Keanu) but I also really love Dracula: Dead & Loving It (don’t judge me!).

  4. I chose Carrie and Blood Ties. They were the only ones on the list in which I read the books and saw the movie/TV show. Of all the book to screen adaptations that I have seen, these are a couple of the best. Carrie didn’t stray too far away from the book, that’s important to fans when you take a book to the big screen. Blood Ties, as a TV series, was able to stray just far enough to keep it interesting without being ridiculous. That was one series that was cancelled too soon IMO.

  5. I just picked Divergent and Game of Thrones, although I admit I haven’t read the source material for either. I want to love the Bitten show because I loved the books, but it’s not there yet. I hate to use this word, but I’m hoping Elena becomes less ‘girly’ in the coming season.

  6. I’m going with Alice in Wonderland, Dracula, Dresden Files and Game of Thrones. I think they did a good job following the books.

  7. I would have to pick: Bitten, Dracula and Game of Thrones. I did enjoy the books better but it was nice to see in acted out in real life.

  8. Alice in Wonderland, Bitten (Women of the Otherworld), and Beauty and the Beast.

  9. This was a super hard choice. Ook, it’s only going to get harder….

  10. I voted for Forest Gump, Blood Ties and Game of Thrones.

  11. Blood Ties was the only one where I have read all the books and have seen the show. I really enjoyed the casting and the episodes. I have seen most of the other adaptions but haven’t read the books. I guess I’ll have to wait to see the next round for other adaptions that I have read/seen.

  12. I voted for Dracula and the Dresden Files.

  13. I voted for Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, and Dracula. I chose those because I love all three of those stories and the way they were done. Frankly, i haven’t seen the movies/shows for most of the other options. i considered voting for Carrie, too, but didn’t. Other than that, I either haven’t seen them, or have seen them and couldn’t stand them. Some, like Clockwork Orange, I just didn’t like at all.

  14. I voted for Divergent. I really loved the movie, but I’ve not yet read the books. I’ve heard about the last book, and it has me scared! :-)

  15. I loved the ALICE IN WONDERLAND adaptation.
I thought they did a really nice job with DIVERGENT.
Too bad LION, THE WITCH, and THE WARDROBE wasn’t there-that was fabulous (the latest version)

  16. Cujo was awesome. I drove a yellow Pinto just like the one in this movie and anytime a dog would rush my when I was driving down the road-I’d about pee my pants.

  17. loved Bitten and I also picked Blood ties and Dresden Files

  18. I picked
    1.Beauty and the Beast
    2.Dexter
    3.Forrest Gump

  19. Bitten and Blood Ties — loved the books, and really liked the TV versions.

  20. I chose

    1. Game of Thrones - OMG I cant miss an episode, NEVER !!!
    2. Forest Gump - WHY ??? is that even a question….lol
    3. ALICE in Wonderland - 3 words here why, the 1st is “AMAZING” and the last 2 are “JOHNNY DEPP” come on, he is like the most sexiest man on screen in history & still is. Dang great actor to. :D

  21. My favorite book to screen is any of the Jane Austen novels. My second choice is Dracula.

  22. Cherri-Anne Boitson

Well, I voted for only one - Bitten! This is the only one where I have read the book and seen the movie, at least from the ones in this round! A lot of awesome choices though! Some I didn’t even remember being books or movies. I do love Dracula, but I have never watched the movies!! Only recently have I gotten into watching Vampire movies. I always liked the books better!! :)

  23. Well I have really enjoyed the bitten Series and I voted for that I hope it comes back!! I loved the books, and havn’t seen all the movies listed on there so had to go with this for me.

  24. I would have to say that Interview with a Vampire, Harry Potter 1&2 are my favorite movie adaptations. Bitten is my favorite TV. I am waiting to see what happens when the Dark Hunter novels come to the screen though.

  25. The Divergent movie was quite good and I absolutely love Forrest Gump.

  26. Beauty and the Beast, Dracula, and Ella Enchanted.
