POLL DISCUSSION: Pick Your Favorite Book to Screen Adaptation! Nomination Round

PLEASE READ THE POST THIS WEEK! Welcome to the nomination post of the week!! Nominations run through Sunday, August 31st.

Okay this is a bit different from what we normally do for our polls. In an effort to keep things in ONE place we are doing a nomination week for your Favorite Book to Screen Adaptation this can be a book to a movie OR TV show. There will be ONE round that is taking place all week long. Simply LIST your favorite Book to Screen Adaptation in the blog comments below. PLEASE try not to duplicate nominations. We can take up to about 50-75 nominations and split them into a few weeks worth of polling starting next week with the first round (in no particular order) and so on. Then we will be the final poll for the ULTIMATE Book to Screen Adaptation.

So, there is NO POLL on the site to vote in this week. This is phase ONE: NOMINATIONS. Here’s the initial list of book releases to get us started, just add yours below and have fun!

Bitten (Women of the Otherworld)
Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep)
Carrie
Dracula - which version?
Game of Thrones
Harry Potter
Howl’s Moving Castle
Interview with a Vampire
Lord of the Rings
Outlander
Queen of the Damned
Roswell
The Hobbit
The Shining
The Vampire Diaries
True Blood (Sookie Stackhouse)
Vampire Academy

PLEASE NOTE: We can’t add every book to screen adaptation, or this would be the only poll we would have on the site ever again. :) There are HUNDREDS of adaptations. So, we may have to cut some things out due to time and space constraints. Thank you for understanding and remember this is for FUN, it isn’t for a prize or prestige.

Please comment as MUCH as you like. We want to hear from AUTHORS AND READERS alike!

Feel free to use the banner at the top of this post. Put it on your blogs, groups etc. to let your FANS and friends know about the poll! Link back to this post here:

  2. One for the money

  3. Narnia?

  4. The White Queen
    The Walking Dead
    The Princess Bride

  5. Does it have to be paranormal? I’d go with the film versions of Nick Hornby’s HIGH FIDELITY and FEVER PITCH…

  6. The Hunger Games
    The Stand
    Salem’s Lot

  7. LOTR - The Two Towers

  8. The Green Mile
    Stardust
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
    The Golden Compass

  9. I agree with the Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter nominations. Such great movies!

  10. The Godfather part 1

  11. I’d like to nominate Haven since it is (loosely) based off The Colorado Kid. I think that counts!

  12. Oh, also The Hunger Games and Divergent.

  13. The Princess Bride

  14. Harry Potter the movie is just like the book.well to me it is.

  15. My top favorites are already on the list, so I’ll add Twilight Saga.

  16. I loved the Dresden Files and was so sad to see it end too soon.
Harry Potter and The Hunger Games

  17. Best adaptions to screen any version I would have to go with the following—Dracula (the one with Gary Oldman) , on that note also Penny Dreadful, set in that same time period, Bitten, The Bridge,The Fellowship of the Ring series and The Hobbit, The Help,The Walking Dead (because the writer does contribute to the episode rewrite to screen), Game of Thrones (again the writer helps with rewrite), Endor, The Giver, The White Queen, Pillars of the Earth, Harry Potter,Haven, Clockwork Orange,iOutlander because Diane Galabon is helping. I could keep going but I have found the best adaptions follow the ideas presented in the book without changing the main idea. While I enjoyed the True Blood series, it did not follow the Sookie Stackhouse story line very much except for names of the characters and places of the main events. Same opinion for Under the Dome, at first it followed the story but now it is following another path, the only reason I like it is that I get some cameo appearances by author thru out

  18. The Hobbit
    Harry Potter

  19. Loved HP and Bitten. I liked Blood Ties until they canceled it.

  20. Harry Potter and Twilight are my favorites.

  21. I combed through everybody else’s and deleted some from my list…

    Somewhere in Time

    Mary Poppins

    Fitzwilly

Forrest Gump, The Color Purple, Stand By Me, The Birds, Schindler’s List, The Shawshank Redemption, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Devil Wears Prada, Ella Enchanted, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Mrs. Miracle, Angel’s Fall, Blue Smoke, Carolina Moon, High Noon, Midnight Bayou, Montana Sky, Northern Lights

Cedar River, Dexter, Sherlock, Elementary, Legend of Earthsea, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty & the Beast

  22. Dresden Files and Blood Ties (in part because the TV shows actually led me to the books!)

  23. I’m going with Harry Potter and Game of Thrones

  24. PLEASE NOTE: The nominations round and comments are now closed. Thank you. Be sure to check out this week’s first round of voting.
