BBB: What’s your favorite love story? (movie or book)
SS: My current favorite is Peaky Blinders, this rocking Netflix series about a gypsy family after world war I. Love it. I’m Team May all the way! Anyone out there watched this series? it is kind of like Sons of Anarchy meets Les Miserable.

Note: When the kind folks at Bitten by Books suggested I do something for
Blood Sin, one of the options was a character interview, but I realized right away that I would have trouble breaking the fourth wall enough to have myself as the author interview one of my own characters.

BBB: Name 5 of your most favorite movies. Why do you love them so much?
SP: Hmm…I’m not much of a watcher, so my movie list isn’t very long. But I love the Lord of the Rings trilogy. For a few years, I would get together with friends and watch them all straight through (well, over a couple of days), just to immerse myself in that world. The music, the scenery—it was a lovely escape. I do so love a world with magic in it. Read More »

BBB: What is your best scar? Tell the story of how you got it.
AA: I have a scar on my left cheek. It’s the shape of a crescent moon. I was a hardcore. I fell off my my tricycle when I was four. Guess I was destined to write a book about witches!

BBB: Do you have any pets?
LJL: Ah…yes. I have: two cats, one rabbit, and one hamster that actually belongs to “Uncle” Bill, my kid’s godfather. Bill’s roommate is allergic to fur, so Bill keeps Algernon over here.
The rabbit is huge and white. His name is Rabbit. (or, occasionally, Bunny.) My Chinese daughter originally gave him a Chinese name, but we couldn’t pronounce it. So she went with Rabbit because her brothers could say this. Whenever we Read More »

Terry: “Guthrie, you’ve had a crush on Calla Stewart since you were young, right?”
Guthrie: He shifted in his seat, crossing his ankles, and folded his arms across his chest, his kilt hot. He was hot. “She was friends with my brother Cearnach.”

Interview with Lucien and Horatia from His Wicked Seduction
Rochester Hall in Kent was full of life for the Christmas holidays. I was fortunate that I could take a chance to interview Lord Rochester and his soon to be bride Horatia Sheridan. Their engagement had caused quite a scandal because Horatia’s brother Cedric was Lucien’s friend, and they had fought a duel on Christmas day over Horatia’s honor, and then all three of them were nearly killed by an assassin from Lucien’s past. It was a story I needed to hear more details about and had reached out to Horatia for an interview.

BBB: If you could have been told one thing that you weren’t told when you were a teenager, what would you like to have heard?

BBB: What’s your favorite dish to cook?
SA: Fennel and Pears with Lemon Zest. It’s fast and easy, but because the ingredients are in an unusual combination and the results are so pretty and tasty, it comes off as impressive. Slice two fennel bulbs and sautee them in butter for about four minutes. Meanwhile, slice up four pears (you can leave the peels on, especially if they’re red Bartlett pears), and add them to the fennel. Sautee for another four minutes or so. Remove from heat. Zest a lemon. Toss the fennel and pears Read More »

I anxiously waited in the lavishly decorated Egyptian room as Lord Weymouth and his fiancé Jane enter. They had graciously agreed to meet with me to discuss their unique story and how the ghosts of Stormclyffe Hall had brought them together. The first thing that struck me was how lovely they look together. I suppose it is more the way they look at each other, how they seem to move in sync and react like two halves of the same whole. They took their seats opposite me and smiled.

BBB: What is your best scar? Tell the story of how you got it.
SF: My best scar is on my arm. Almost three years ago, I fell and broke my wrist. I expected a cast, but no, I had to have surgery where they put in 3 pins, along with the screws to hold the external rod in place. OUCH! It hurt constantly, and I felt like a Borg! Since I’m right handed, I had to learn to do EVERYTHING with my left hand. I also became completely dependant on my husband. The scars serve to remind me how life can change in an instant, and how we are all interconnected Read More »
