The Woods by Anastasia Rabiyah

Tabian lived the life of a servant sold to Lord Mabot at a young age. All her life, she wanted to escape the keep, to no longer have to serve Lord Mabot. One day, she finally does it; she escapes into the Darkwood. Nobody dares to go there. It is the place where the supernatural hide and everyone fears. She asked a forgotten God for help and got more than she asked for.

Things became too real for Tabian then. She no longer wanted to hide in the Darkwood. She was afraid of the place and all the secrets that it held. She called upon the Old God Roburis and did not believe he was real after all, like he was all just some part of a dream.

Anyone can relate to Tabian. Everybody wants to escape their life at some point or another. Once they escape, it becomes real and strange. They no longer know everything and become terrified of that. She, like most people, went back to see if that was really what she wanted, then she remembered why she left. She lost her fear of Darkwood and embraced it more than before.

This was a great read to which many people can relate.

Love and Brimstone by Lesli Richardson

Anastazia is a smart and strong willed attorney that is suddenly thrust into a world where nothing makes sense to her. Now she has to face a new world and her part in it. That’s not her only problem though. She has to try a fight the temptation of her new boss. She tries to figure out whether this is all real or just a figment of her imagination and what part this new man plays in it.

He has spent the last ten years watching over her. He loves her, but has never truly met her. Now it is time to meet face to face. Can Matthia convince her that he is no threat to her and make her realize what a great guy he is? He really is kind and caring, (not to mention rich) and tries to help Taz understand everything new that has happened in her life.

It starts off as a great read and stays that way with lots of mystery, plenty of characters and plot twists. One of the only problems I had, was that Taz started acting like a childish brat for awhile. It seems as if this is the way the author wanted her portrayed. Even one of the other characters even called her a brat a time or two. This paranormal plot takes you in plenty of directions, and you never know who is going to attack and when. It has clever twist and turns that will keep you guessing until the end.

Bedrooms and Broomsticks by Cynthia Rayne

The story starts out with Cayte Taylor. A lonely woman spending her birthday with her cat and her sister. It’s the big 3-0 and she’s doubting how exciting she’s allowed her life to be. With a little encouragement throughout the story she blossoms from a wallflower into a beautiful butterfly.

Beau is a lust demon accidentally called to help Cayte get the man of her dreams. He is a demon that usually gets in and takes what he wants and gets out. Throughout the story he changes, and he no longer wants only his needs to be fulfilled, but hers as well.

Bedrooms and Broomsticks started out with a great concept, but changed after the first few pages. It became kind of slow and in places it jumps around and you are left asking ‘what happened?’ The ending was a good, strong ending but I would have like to have read a little more about how they ended up where they were. Overall, it was good. If there were more details that went with some of the scenes it would have been great.

Book Excerpt: “Cayte is convinced her life is beige. She wanted to be an artist, instead she manages a gallery. She is in love with her sexy boss, Tristan, but he doesn’t know she’s alive. When Cayte receives a book of spells from her grandmother on her thirtieth birthday, she drunkenly decides to cast one. After all, magic isn’t real, right?

Cayte accidentally summons Beau, a powerful incubus who has bedded legions of women over the centuries. Beau has never been so tempted by a woman and agrees to help her seduce Tristan if Cayte submits to all his desires. Soon, Cayte has Tristan panting for her, but finds she is more interested in the demon she knows.”
