Release Party and Contest with Author Jeaniene Frost

Posted under Contests, Guest Bloggers, Site News by Site Hostess on Monday 1 February 2010 at 1:00 pm

PLEASE NOTE: This contest is now over. Winners will be chosen later and contacted via email.

Hi everyone, I’m happy to hold another release party at Bitten By Books! As many of you know, First Drop of Crimson is the first book in the Night Huntress World novels and it features former side characters Spade and Denise as the main protagonists. After a tragic event, Denise wants nothing to do with the vampire world anymore. Spade is a Master vampire who’s determined never to fall for a human again. But when a demon shapeshifter forces Denise to seek out a long-missing relative, Spade is the only person who can help her. Soon a dangerous attraction grows between them even as their search leads them into a deadly underground black market – and the real truth about the demon’s hold over Denise.

One of the questions I’ve frequently been asked by readers of my Night Huntress series is, why did I write a spin-off instead of just writing more Cat and Bones books? To answer that question, I’ll have to take you back to a conversation with my editor in 2006, shortly after I sold my first novel.

Editor: Revisions have been approved and you should be getting copyedits in about two weeks. You say you’ve already written the second book in the series?

Me: Uh huh. Finished the third book, too, and I’m about halfway through the fourth.

Editor: *pauses* Really…?

Me: Yep. Oh, and speaking of future books, I also have this GREAT idea for a novel featuring Spade! You know, Bones’s best friend that showed up for two scenes in Halfway to the Grave? You’ll see more of Spade in the second book when you read it. Plus, you’ll meet Denise, who’ll be the heroine of Spade’s book. *more excited blathering about Spade and Denise’s book, including spoilers for the third and fourth Cat and Bones books*

Editor: *in a gentle, don’t-startle-the-crazy-new-author voice* Um, it’s great that you’ve thought this all out, but since we’ve only purchased two books, we’ll have to see how these sell first before we talk about buying more in the series, let alone about doing spin-off novels on side characters.

Me: *deciding less caffeine might be a good idea before talking to editor* Riiiiight. Well, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the first two books don’t flop so that I can get a chance to do the other ones.

Two Years Later

Me to new agent: I want to try and sell spin-off books on the Night Huntress series. *blathers on about Spade & Denise, plus Mencheres and new character, Kira*

Agent: Write me two proposals and I’ll meet with your editor to discuss it.

Three Weeks Later:

Spin-offs SOLD, plus two more Cat and Bones books!

Conversation later with editor: I assume you want to do Spade and Denise’s book as the first spin-off. When do you want to write it?

Me: *thinking of how I’ve had Spade and Denise’s story fermenting in my mind for years* How do you feel about NOW? ;)

So First Drop of Crimson was the result of a lot of wishing on my part combined with awesome reader enthusiasm for my other books. I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you want a little sampling, my publisher has the first 20% online for reading here: http://browseinside.harpercollins.com/index.aspx?isbn13=9780061583223

I’m also posting scene snippets from now until release day at my blog, so be sure to check those out, too.

And as readers of my other books know, my vampires have a tendency to give themselves nicknames once they cross over from human. Spade’s real name is Charles, but he kept the moniker a prison colony overseer called him to remind himself of the time when he was only addressed by the tool assigned to him.

So readers, *grin* if you were going to be changed into a vampire, would you keep your real name? Or what nickname would you give your newly-fanged self?

So readers, *grin* if you were going to be changed into a vampire, would you keep your real name? Or what nickname would you give your newly-fanged self?

I would want to keep my name. I would live a long time as a vampire (well hopefully anyways) so eventually my name would become rare and exotic :-) That and I don’t want have to get use to people calling me a new name. I would confuse myself.

Hi, Jeaniene!!! I absolutely lover your series. Unfortunately I have only read the first one but I loved it so much I went bought the last three to read… hopefully soon ;D

Anyways, I wanted to know why you choose to make a spin-off series for the secondary characters, well, other than them needing their own HEA?

As for th question… that’s a tough one. I mean I love my name but I would definitely change it so no one knew who I was. I think I would change it to… ‘Kane’ because it is japanese for fighter and that’s exactly what a vampire has to be in order to survive. And I just love the name. ;D

I believe I would keep my real name. However, back when I was working as a school librarian for a pre-K through 12 school, one little pre-k girl referred to me as the Book Fairy (during the school book fair). So, I would perhaps use that nickname. :)

This question was super hard. I think it’s easier for guys to pick a vampire name. Every name I’ve thought of for myself makes me sound like a bad stripper.
Anyway, I think I’d change it to Jael, which is the name of a biblical woman who stuck a tent peg through an enemy’s head while he was sleeping. It’s that whole idea of , “Look at me I’m pretty and immortal and, oh yeah, did I forget to mention lethal?”.

Anyway, can’t wait for this book to come out. Totally stoked.

If I had to come up with a ‘new’ name for my vampire self right now, I’d probably go with my middle name, Nicole, so that I won’t forget my past and my human self. It’s also a fairly innocuous name, so I can be sure I won’t stand out too much in the human world.

However, knowing me, if I really were to become a vampire, I’d probably find a more compelling name relating to my transformation at the time of the event.

    Hi Jeaniene!
Really great and funny question for us. I think I would keep my name the same (I go by my middle name which is Kate) and then for fun I would introduce myself as “The ex-human formally known as Kate”. I’m sure I would receive a few eyebrow lifts for that one (lol).

Keep doing your thang and giving us great books to read and good luck with the new spin off.

Oh I would definitely be changing my name. In fact, when I thought I could write, the only thing I knew for sure was my characters name: Tejia (Tay-uh) St. James. So that’s what I would change it to.

And can I please be a calm vamp, and not all spaztastic please? And I don’t want to dress in a bodice so tight everything but my nips are popping out. I get it, I don’t need to breathe…but still.

Oh, and long luxurious hair. That I can put into a long braid and whip around. And since I won’t sweat, I want to be a size 4, with muscles, wearing skintight black leather.

What do you mean this isn’t a wish list? Pffft.

Okay so if I was turned into a vampire I would rename myself ‘Justice’. I think this is fitting because I would want to be just like Cat and bring Justice to the innocents from the bad vampires like Hennessey. :)

I think most people would almost have to change their names- a bunch of vampire Carl’s running around would be kind of silly. Off the top of my head, I think Valentina is a properly dramatic, without being over-the-top vampire name.

My name is already uncommon enough that it won’t take long for it to be exotic. If, for some reason, I felt the need to separate my living identity from my fanged one; I’d choose Emerald. It’s a lovely stone & it’s not as cliched as being a vampire named Ruby or Garnet. Or something in Gaelic.

First of all, I might have paid money to sit in on those meetings with the Editors. Hilarious. I know what happens, you’re so excited about something because it’s really good and you’re proud and you can’t wait to tell someone. And then you realize you’ve had this crazed look on your face from overexcitement. And then you come off as a really big spaz, and the other person looks at you with that placating face. Yeah… I get that face a lot.

Anyway I’m a fan, so thanks for writing!
But if I was a vampire, I think I’d change my name but have it be a take on my original, like something sortened or my middle name. Like Rae.

Though you may be the same person physically, mentally dieing and being reborn kinda makes u want a new name, if only a nickname. I also like how some authors, tho more for demons, that names hold power. Nicknames make everything mysterious, especially ones with meaning.
Ive never really liked my name, but my bff calls me Rose (cuz im like this girl in another series) and i get called jackie alot, cuz i look like my aunt, but i dont have any cool nicknames, tho i wish i did.

Hey, Jeaniene, already preordered First Drop and am planning on locking myself in my room as soon as it arrives. Kids will fend for themselves. BAHAHAHA I’d have to go with the name Gracey. It may sound boring but I am assuming that I would be graceful as a vamp. As a human I am the ultimate clutz. I drop stuff, trip over nothing, I have no coordination whatsoever. So, Gracey it would be:) By the way, I love that you are so excited about your books and characters. I think it’s reflected in your writing:)

    Contest poop:
I follow Jeaniene on twitter, am a member of her boards as moonsanity too.
I RSVP’d to this event, and Tuesday’s event.

I would change my name. I was named after my father (even though I am a girl), who was named after his father, and so on for several generations. Family names not only identify a person they almost seem to impose a predetermined personality on them. I would be thrilled to start my vamperic experience with a new name. Maybe Jhalyn, or something like that.

I am following Jeaniene on Twitter and sent a Facebook request.

Names: Well, Nyx is the greek goddess of the night, but that might be a bit pretentious! **smile**
Nisha means “night” in sanskrit and I suppose I would be rising at night.
Swati is the Hindi name for the 3rd brightest star (Arcturus). If I happened to glance up that night and see it I might choose that.
Depending on what constellation I saw above me, I might choose a name for one of the stars in that constellation. Example: Deneb, Altair, Aludra, Lyra, Rigel, Vega…

    Hope you like my suggestions!

    Great Interview!
If I turned to a vampire I think I’d change my name to Tynga. My real name is Cindy, but all my “online friends” called me Tynga, and I like that it’s exotic and unique =)
Where Tynga come from? It’s the name of my World of Warcraft Character I’ve played for 5 years =P and I was originally inspired by the name of an asian girl in the series Dark Angel with Jessica Alba ^^

Love your Night Huntress novels and cannot wait to read FDOC!

I would definitely keep my name because it is the name my parents gave me and not many people have my name. :) But for people I don’t like or don’t want to know my name than i would give them a false name, something pretty like ’sonja’.

How many more Cat and bones book & spin off books are there gonna be?

    allo allo!

Let me first say how much i adore, love, am enraptured with your Night Huntress world! It’s a series i picked up and as soon as i read chapter 1, i couldn’t stop reading until i had devoured every single book. TWICE. I’m currently re-reading the series to get in the mood for First Drop of Crimson & just because i love the hell out of Bones & Cat (& of course Vlad =D) Your writing has such a great balance of intrigue & humor that i think is very difficult to capture, but you do such a great job of it.

As for my vampire name, i would definitely change it! I think I’d go with Tryst & try to live up to it’s implications ;)

    - I’m curious who some of your favorite authors growing up were & who your current favorite author is. Were you a fan of paranormal/horror as a kid?

    - Also, did you find your first book harder or easier to write than say your 4th?

    Thanks in advance!!

PS. I started to read the first Cat & Bones book out loud to my fiance before bed. He pretends to tolerate it, but everytime i get ready for bed, the book just ‘appears’ on my pillow ;)

If I were to become a vampire I’d most definitely want a new name to signify the change - it’d probably have to be something similar to my existing name, though, so there wouldn’t be too much confusion. I’d probably go with “Stevie” which I always thought was an interesting version of stephanie. I love seeing the thought behind everyone else’s nicknames, there’s some really interesting ones.

    1) I already own all her books prior to this contest (except FDOC)

    2. I would be torn on whether to keep my real name or not. Becoming a vampire would be a new identity. I guess it would depend on if I was still involved with my family or not (if vampires were acceptable in society, like True Blood). My avatar in Vampire Wars (not that I play very often…no time) is Anastasia. I think if I decided to change my name, that would be it…maybe. I might have an entirely different outlook as a vampire!

Thanks Rebecca M. Can you just imagine… bad vampires break in to The Dude’s house and bite him, spilling blood on his rug, to which he cries “man, that rug really tied the room together.” He then becomes a vampire and has to deal with the ins, outs and what-have-yous… And bowling would still fit as it’s a nighttime activity… Walter can then rail about how Vampirism is a conspiracy that was concocted in Nam… I love it! Sorry Jeaniene to get off topic but you asked for it ha ha ha.

  84. Comment by Jeaniene Frost — February 1, 2010 @ 4:47 pm

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for coming by. I’m having a great time reading all your comments and seeing your opinions on picking a new vampire name versus keeping your own name.

Emma F. asked, “I wanted to know why you choose to make a spin-off series for the secondary characters, well, other than them needing their own HEA?”

As I talked about in the post, I’ve had Spade and Denise’s story in my head for years, and when I think about a story that long, I want to write it.

Jessica M. asked “I was wondering How long you and Melissa Marr have been friends for?”

I met Melissa shortly after selling my first novel in 2006. At the time, we shared the same agent. Melissa’s a great friend and an awesome critique partner. She’s critiqued every novel – and short story - I’ve written since Halfway to the Grave (which I wrote before I met her).

Beth W. asked, “So Mrs. Frost what would you call yourself?”

I’d probably keep my name – though it wouldn’t surprise me if others nicknamed me Foul Mouth due to my language, lol.

Manx asked, “I wanted to know if we’ll learn more about Fabian and if you’ll ever write a full length novel about the werewolves from your short story Pack?”

Fabian is back in Cat and Bones book five, with a little more tidbits about him there. As for the werewolves in Pack, I don’t see writing a full novel with those particular characters, but writing within the werewolf universe in Pack is something I’d like to do one day.

Van P. asked “How many more Cat and bones book & spin off books are there gonna be?”

Right now there are just the two: FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON and ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS. I’m hoping for more and will be talking about that at the next contract time with my publisher.

Koren Cota asked, “Who is doing the covers for this series?”

Thomas Egner, art director for Avon Books/HarperCollins. He’s amazing. I love my covers!

Chelsea B asked, “Can First Drop of Crimson be read without reading the previous series? Or would I be completely lost?”

You can absolutely read FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON without reading any of the other books in the Night Huntress series. I try to write all my books as if no one had read the previous ones, but especially with FIRST DROP there’s less chance of feeling lost because Spade and Denise have never been the protagonists in a book before.

Leslie M asked, “I’m curious who some of your favorite authors growing up were & who your current favorite author is. Were you a fan of paranormal/horror as a kid? Also, did you find your first book harder or easier to write than say your 4th?”

Growing up I had eclectic reading tastes. Authors I specifically remember loving as a teen are Robert Ludlum, Sydney Sheldon, Bertrice Small, Valerie Sherwood, Dean Koontz, and Kathleen Woodiwiss (told you it was eclectic ;) Yes, I’ve been a horror fan ever since I was a kid, but I watched more horror than I read it.

As for writing, I’d say book four was probably harder to write than my first book. When I first wrote HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE, I wrote it just for me never thinking it would be published. Now when I write, I keep in mind that first my critt partner will read and offer revision comments, plus my other regular critiquer Ilona Andrews, then my editor and copyeditor will have their crack at it. And finally readers will let me know what they think. So I don’t write anymore with just the thought of “whee, this scene is fun!” I write with the thought of “is this scene moving the pacing along? Revealing important information about the character/world? Relevant to the plot? Too much info-dumping? Not enough backstory?” Etc, repeat, etc. It’s a less spontaneous way to write, but the end result is a much better book. You don’t even want to know how many revisions HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE went through before it sold because I didn’t ask myself those important questions before  (P.S. Leslie: Lol about your fiancé!)

Arlene asked, “Is there any music that influences you while writing?”

Lots of music influences me. I’ve blogged about specific soundtracks to books before, but there’s no one type of music that I listen to while I write. It varies from alternative, rock, new age, pop, R&B, and even classical. Each book has its own set of songs that I associate with it and those songs are all over the place as far as genre. About the only type of music I don’t like is techno – which amuses my husband, because he loves that stuff.

Kirscha asked, “Is it difficult to keep everything so fast-actioned when you write?”

I probably touched on this a little in my answer above to Leslie. When I write now, I try to keep in mind that each scene has to matter to the book in terms of character/world development or moving the plot along. If a scene is just fun for me to write but does absolutely nothing for the characters/plot, it gets cut, either by me in self-edits or later by my critt partner/editor. Reading is of course subjective, so not every reader will think every scene in my books were necessary, but I can say as the author that they were *for me*. Writing with an end goal in mind for every scene plus having great critt partners and a great editor makes for much more streamlined, taut pacing, I think.

I’ve heard so much about you! But I’ve yet to read any of your books. (will rectify that quickly though)I think I’d like to keep my name if I was a vampire, even though it probably wouldn’t instill fear in the rest of the vampire world. If I had to choose a new name though, I’d probaly use this one. Anairielle.

Just because it’s interesting and unique!

I would have to ditch my name because it’s pretty uncommon, and the way I spell it makes it very rare as a name. Not sure what other name I’d pick. Not my screen name probably.

I loved Halfway To The Grave, It ws the first book I read of yours and it was great! I am very excited about your new book First Drop of Crimson, I can’t wait to read it!!

If I wa turned into a Vampire, I would keep my own name. I like my name and It would be too hard to get used to a new one.

Hey Jeaniene so excited you are here with us on BBB, waiting anxiously like all your other fans for FDOC to release and get a new series to follow!!
    #2
Name would have to change from mine now (Jackie) because growing up was called Whacky Jackie way too much and as a vampire would have to fit my personality better so my Vamp name would be “Banty Rooster”. I am short, aggressive and if someone riles me the feathers and the spurs fly!!!!

  95. Comment by Jessica S. — February 1, 2010 @ 5:40 pm

    I RSVPed

What led you to want to write a Night Huntress World series?
    Is it challenging?
How many World books do you think you might do and who would be the narrators/stars? I remember who is in Eternal Kiss of Darkness, guy wise, I just didn’t know if you could indulge us with those other characters for the other books yet. I know we had to wait awhile to hear the female character for First Drop of Crimson.

    Now for the requirement/question/etc

If I were to become a vampire, I would likely keep my first name, I might go by Jess after awhile though and my close vampire friends would know me by Jessica. But the rest of them would likely call me Jess.

I am a follower of her Livejournal account, does the count? I don’t know if there is anything I can send to prove that though…

Posting 3 and 4 on my Blog here momentarily: jessica-agreatread.blogspot.com

Will do 6, all three of them after this

And also on my blog, link posted above I will be doing a BIG combo message of posting about this contest/interview/q&a all there, it will all be up before the end of the day/night whatever! ;)

I loved your series & can’t wait to read First Drop of Crimson!!

I would probably keep my name. I’m not creative enough to come up with some cool name. Plus I think I would get too confused having to remember to answer to some other name. Maybe if someone gave me a nickname, then eventually I might just go by that. But I would need some time to get used to it first! :)

If I were to turn into a vampire, I think I would use one of my middle names or even just my last name. There will be no more people with my last name (that I know of) once I get married. I already respond to it since people reverted to calling me by it when there were multiple Emily’s.

How do you feel about the diferent types of vampire novels that are out for teens (ie-twilight, vampire diaries, etc…) and do you think they help or hurt the genre as a whole?

Just thought you might enjoy this…..I bought all your books for a friend of mine for her wedding gift—not typical but she loved it!!

  105. Comment by Alicia — February 1, 2010 @ 6:13 pm

First I just want to say how much I love all of your books, I have them all since the beginning. :)
I remember reading Halfway To The Grave and when I got to the end of it I thought that was it and I felt like crying haha. Then one day I decided to Google you and found out that you had the second coming out soon. (This is was a little while ago now).

I’d want to change my name to something if/when I’m turned into a Vampire, I love my name I have now but becoming a vampire seems like you would be reborn again so with that should come a new name. I was doing some name hunting before I posted this and couldn’t really decide on one that I thought would best fit me. All I know is that I would want it to start with an A so that I can still have a piece of my old like with me. Some I found that sounded nice were Aila, Adanya, and Azura.

PS - When I friended you on facebook I kind of felt like a stalker…

    - I RSVP’d

    - 2. I would really want to change my name so that I would immediately know people from my old life and who knew me from my new one. It would probably take me a while to think of a good one. Years, probably. For now, I’ll choose Andy. Ha.

    - 3. I posted the book trailer here: http://kaikes.livejournal.com/152853.html

    - 4. I posted the link for the first 20% at the same place as above (http://kaikes.livejournal.com/152853.html)

Then we’ll throw in a question: Will we ever find out why Spade ended up in the penal colony or about the 4th guy that was with them that was changed?

Just have to say that i love your books, but i hate reading them before bed because i don’t end up sleeping and when i peek out into the world, i’m almost late for class.

Welcome back to Bittenbybooks Jeaniene!! Alright, to answer your question: If I were going to be changed into a vampire, would I keep my real name?

The answer to that is a big yes. Mostly because it’s a start of a new life. New Life = new name so the past did not interfere. It’s like shedding skin.

What nickname would I give my newly-fanged self? Easy enough, I would choose the name I have been going by on-line for ten plus years now. Many friends I have had thought my real name was Raonaid (and yeah my mother has a hissy because she chose Rachel not Raonaid for me)

    Jeaniene,

I cracked up over the editor exchange! I’m soooo looking forward to reading this first book about Denise and Spade. Have I mentioned I totally love The Night Huntress series? No? LOVE it. ;) (Be sure to sing the LOVE part.)

Okay, if I was newly fanged, I think I’d go with a new nickname to represent my fresh unlife. My cats would be thrilled with my nocturnal hours and sleeping habits, and mildly curious about my new eating habits, a curiosity that would quickly wane. Their main concern would be *their* eating habits and my continued prompt serving of their meals, so I think I’d have to go with Routine. Has a French flair, no? Routine, surrounded by her still-living (and yawning) cats. Who are looking pointedly at their toys. Must be playtime. Ah, Routine!

How do you keep the scenes of intimacy (read: hot sex scenes) from turning into something super cheesy?

I am so excited Jeaniene Frost came to have a release party at Bitten by Books! I lovelovelove The Night Huntress series and can’t wait to being another one by Frost!

    2. I would totally keep my real name if I turned into a vampire. I love my name. First and last… my middle name, now, that I may change.

So readers, *grin* if you were going to be changed into a vampire, would you keep your real name? Or what nickname would you give your newly-fanged self?

I would have to change my name for sure, and I think I’ll go with the nickname I use on Goodreads.com because it sounds fantastic, LOL! “The Savhage Temptress” — yes, that has nice fangy possibities if I do say so myself! ;)

I am not sure if I would want to change my name, I actually really like my first and middle names a lot! Although, I would not be opposed to having a nickname that close friends could call me. Some friends call me Beth or Liz now but mostly I go by ELizabeth.
I am looking forward to reading this spin off, I love spin offs because they give the opportunity to stay in the world and get to know more!

I would change my name, but being the indecisive person that I am I haven’t really decided what to change it to. I thought of Fawn, I used that many years ago when I was mudwrestling at Myrtle Beach, but it’s not really a vampy kind of name… maybe Sindi.

I’m late but I made it! Today was a little hectic around here with the kids but I finally got on the computer YAY! LOL! I was just wondering how you deal with “writers block” or you know, sometimes when you just get STUCK? I’m attempting to write my first book right now and have found myself getting so frustrated when I can’t seem to figure out where I’m trying to get my characters to go! So I am always wondering how the professionals handle those situations?

I think the altering of a name or the cirmustances that comes with the situation is where a new name should come from.
You want it to be differnt from your old exsistance and not to identify that you are a vampire.

Thanks for stopping by Ms Frost!!!!! We love you here at the BBB. I must say that your Bones is one HOT vampire. I so want me. I really love how you write the Cat and Bones books 1st person. It is truly interesting to see how Cat views herself and the way through the interaction of how everyone else views her. My question to you is why did you decide to go with 1st person in this series? Also, do you see any of yourself in the character of Cat?

I think that I would change my vamp name to Coletta (variation on my current name) or Truffles (since I love chocolate truffles)

For me, I would become a vampire with no regrets. With my health, a change would do me good (drum roll, please!). And I would change my name. I’ve long been partial to the name of “Odessa” (or Des for short) and considered changing my name to that a few years ago. It would be a great vampire name/alias. After all, one can’t spell Goddess without Des :)

I’d keep my real name. I like the idea of being a vampire named Dawn. Heh.

    Thanks! :0)

I think, although this sounds stupid and way to sci-fi, I would like to be called Star or Darkstar if I got turned into a vampire. Or maybe Mage….or maybe Noel since my name is already a Russian form with the same meaning…hard descision

Hi, Jeaniene. I already own all your books. As a matter of fact, I’ve had to replace two of them because I wore out the binding ::blushes::. But, to answer your question, I think I would keep my name. I like it, and there are several ways to pronounce it. I think if I got tired of one was I would just switch to another every hundred or so years!

Thanks for bringing us such wonderful characters to journey with. I’m looking forward to Spade and Denise’s story!

    2. Like Spike from Buffy to William. I like my name, Rachel (like Rao’s given name), but if I changed it, I’d be Raven Angelus (Poe and Buffy mixed together). I go by Raven in Vampire Wars. I’m also known as a “comic” character Purrversia, and Blood Rayne was nicknamed “Rachel’s game” when the preview came out.

    6. Done done done

Yeah Wendy C. Mistress Rachel would work for me. I like Jessica M’s Justice (since I’d be a vigilante vampire in the vein of Dexter). That pillow thing is so cute, Leslie M. I like the name Drew (Drusilla did it on Buffy). Roxanne R: I always liked the name Roxy from my Misfits (Jem) doll. Hi Koren Sola.

Thanks for the amusing editor story Ms. Frost! Everyone seems to love your books. High praise, so I’ll have to check them out. :)

    Hi Jeaniene!
Welcome back at BBB and congrats for Cat winning the poll about the sexiest character! I love your series, I’ve read them all and can’t wait for book five to come out!
To answer your question: I like my name (Valentina), so I don’t know if I’d change it, but if I had to pick a nickname I’d probably use Nemesis. That’s the name of the Greek goddess of revenge, and it’s the nick I use the most.
I’d like to ask you: if you get to do more spin-offs after Mencheres’s book, are you going to write Vlad’s book? And, when is Cat and Bones’s book five coming out? I hope they’ll finally get married!
    Thanks!
