An ancient evil has been released in Woodbury by the Council of Demons. It once went by the name Kabul a very long time ago. A truly bad thing was done to this creature when all he wanted was to help a village with a rat problem. He knew he could play his pipe and lead the rats away, saving the villagers, but was instead betrayed. Kabul has finally been allowed his vengeance.
What better form of revenge than to make it take the face of innocence? Everyone thinks children are untouchable, and they should be. But this creature’s rage is boundless. All sorts of horrors are unleashed on this poor town. Demons and man-eating rats are the least of their problems as the town loses power and their minds. Can the coming apocalypse be contained in Woodbury, or will it travel the world?
Shadow Out of the Sky is definitely a new twist on the pied piper. Brick Marlin gives the tale a dark, gritty twist with a lot of horror thrown in. The reader is introduced to a lot of characters and the story goes back and forth between them as they all go through one hell of a night. The story flows pretty well but it gets a little confusing keeping all the characters straight. Be warned that there is a lot of gore in this one-it is not for the faint-hearted.
