Mad, Bad, and Dangerous in Plaid by Suzanne Enoch

Mad, Bad, and Dangerous in Plaid: A Scandalous Highlanders Novel by Suzanne EnochAs the clans gather for Lord Glengask’s wedding, Lady Rowena MacLawry is pondering her future. Since the bride is English, Rowena invites many of her London friends to travel to the Highlands to attend the wedding, and she hopes that one of the young lords present will propose marriage. Rowena loves the excitement of London, and had run away three months earlier in order to have a Season, leaving behind the man the MacLawrys-–and Rowena-had all assumed she would marry. Lachlan lets Rowena know he is nothing but another brother to her, but she refuses to let that crush her spirit. Lachlan MacTier was a proud chieftain of Rowena’s brother, Lord Glengask, and was used to the easy familiarity of the MacLawry family for one of their own. Seeing Rowena for the first time since her journey to London, Lachlan was not sure how he felt about her no longer being the wee girl with whom he had grown up. Soon Lachlan discovers his mistake, and hearing about her being kissed by a young lord nearly makes him crazy with jealousy. He wants Rowena for himself, but Lord Glengask has made it clear that Rowena is to make an advantageous marriage, one that promote an alliance between clans, and has invited three prospective suitors for Rowena to choose. Mad, Bad, and Dangerous in Plaid has all the expected excitement of a Highlands tale.

There are alliances made and broken, a fight or two, love and jealousy, and a kidnapping to keep the reader entranced. Rowena’s spirit is dampened but not broken by her visit to London, and I enjoyed seeing her come into herself and decide that she was truly a Highlands girl and not an English lady. Lachlan’s loyalty to the MacLawry clan knows no bounds, and he is willing to protect Rowena with the last breath in his body. Mad, Bad, and Dangerous in Plaid is the third book in the Scandalous Highlanders series is a delight, and I am definitely looking forward to reading more about the MacLawry clan.

About Mary

My name is Mary, and I’m a serious book junkie, with a large personal collection of reading material. I’m fascinated by ghosts, the paranormal, and true crime stories. I love discovering the possibilities in the next world and am curious about the reasons people do what they do in this one. I’ve been reading since the age of 3, and always have a book or two or three going. I’m an elementary school substitute teacher, and I always have a book or two in my “bag of tricks”. My new favorite is “Frog in a Bog”. My husband and daughter do not share my passion for books, and secretly think I’ve gone over the top with my collecting and reading habits, but I firmly believe there are worse habits I could have!
