There are several narrators in the House of Comarré series, so I’m going to structure this review a bit differently than normal.
Mal and Chrysabelle: A good chunk of their story revolves around their feelings for each other and what that means for the cursed vampire and former comarré, or blood servant. The main mysteries in their lives revolve around the possible identity of Chrysabelle’s brother, the effects of melting down the ring of sorrows and using it to replace Chrysabelle’s signum, and the attempted retrieval of the vampire baby.
Doc and Fi: Fi is, obviously, still not happy with the “benefits” Doc received when he became pride leader. She makes a pretty bold stance to get back what she lost, and I have the feeling the repercussions are going to be severe.

Evalle Kincaid would rather fight a pack of demons then face the Tribunal again, but the meeting was inevitable. VIPER, the group she worked with, had hired Storm as a tracker, and Evalle’s attraction to him was something she was torn about, but with the impending meeting, she couldn’t dwell on it even. On one hand, she didn’t want to face the attraction, and on the other, she wanted the time to explore it further, but there could be no time if things at the Tribunal didn’t go her way. As it was, she was going to be late thanks to an attack on the way to the meeting place. Alterant attacks were escalating and somehow connected to the unnatural fog that was sliding into the cities and being the only alterant working for Viper, she was the one who needed to find the reason why.

Magdalena was excited at the opportunity to have her cards read while visiting New York in 2002, but was pleasantly surprised when the reader used an old Bohemian form with which to lay out the cards. Feeling that the reading was exact, Magdalena returned home to Prague, where she looked for the right event that would set her reading in motion. She found it late one night walking by the river, which looked suspiciously like one of the scenes from the Tarot cards used during her reading. As she waited, a small boat rowed up to her, carrying two women; one was the troll, who guarded the river and bridge, and the other, named Fen’ka, had been burned as a witch in 1365, and she begged Magdalena’s help to clear her name.

Chrysabelle is a comarré, a human whose sole purpose is to please her vampire master — think a mixture of an ever-full refrigerator and a Geisha. Comarré are impossible to miss; their skin is tattooed with golden designs, identifying them better than any nametag could.
Chrysabelle is also a murderess. Or so the vampires think. Her patron was murdered and she’s the prime suspect. Instead of waiting around to be punished for a crime she didn’t commit, Chrysabelle runs to the only man who can help her: Malkolm, a vampire not only cursed to kill whomever he drinks from, but a vampire cursed with the joy of hearing the voices of said victims in his head.

Zombies are very enjoyable to read, but sometimes the different authors and books can bleed into one another (hah) and create an oversaturated genre.
Dead Tropics is something a little different. Edge has written a heroine who is completely average. She is a single mother now that her husband has died, she has three kids and she is pretty laid back. That all changes when tragedy strikes in the form of a zombie outbreak. She becomes a raging mother bear/cat/wolf (whatever you find most aggressive and protective) and is hell-bent on saving her family.
