Bound by Darkness by Alexandra Ivy is the eighth book in her Guardians of Eternity series. This is Jaelyn’s and Ariyal’s story, set in present-day Chicago and London. Jaelyn is a vampire and a valued hunter. Ariyal is the prince of the Sylvermyst, a cousin-race to the Fey.
Jaelyn has the assignment to capture Ariyal, but before she can finish it her assignment is changed. They team up together and find out that the only thing as strong as their dislike for one another is their attraction to each other. The situations they find themselves in have them fighting to stay alive as well as the chemistry they have. They team up with others to stop the return of the Dark Lord. Jaelyn and Ariyal must decide individually and together if they are strong enough to defeat the evil, save the world, and claim their destiny.
Alexandra Ivy does a wonderful job creating interesting characters with detailed personalities. The reader will feel involved in the story from the beginning to the end. Jaelyn’s character is a young woman dealing with feelings she has never had to before. As she travels this journey Jaelyn learns the choices she makes has consequences she must deal with. Ariyal will get the reader’s compassion as he deals with his duty to his people, as well as the predicament he finds himself in fighting against the evil he faces. He is also dealing with his growing attraction to Jaelyn.
Bound by Darkness is an exciting adventure and a great Vampire/ Sylvermyst romance. This eighth book in the Guardians of Eternity series is a perfect continuation to the series and also a book that stands on its own, keeping the reader’s attention from start to finish as they are drawn into a world with characters and situations that they will enjoy finding out about.
