The Sexiest Time of the Year Edited by Sascha Illyvich

Winter by Clarice Clique: Therion, the Great Master, was not used to being questioned about his choices for the winter sacrifice, but the young woman he had chosen was not pure, and there were comments being made among the people. He had only chosen her because of the persistent hold she had on him, the deep fascination he had with her, but he was the only one who knew it…except for the young woman, of course. Will the sacrifice continue as planned, or will Therion’s dishonesty be discovered?

The Ark Hotel: Before the Dawn by JP Archer and Lani Rhea: Angie Perkins was escaping an abusive relationship when she ended up in Veradale, Washington. The Ark Hotel and its Wheel of Pleasure had been a favorite topic of Buddy, her ex-boyfriend, and his idea of how the wheel worked had featured greatly in her decision to leave. Meeting Lizzy and Noah helped her to feel safe and secure with her new life, and Noah was quickly becoming very important to her. However, Noah had secrets of his own he was keeping from Angie. Can they overcome the traumas of the past and develop a relationship?

Demon Protection Plan by Elizabeth J. Kolodziej: Kasidy was half demon, a quality she chose to keep to herself as much as possible. Taken hostage by a crazed gunman in front of uniformed officers forced her to use her powers to free herself and capture the gunman, leading the officers to wonder exactly what she had done. Questioning at the police station only landed her in a witness protection program, with one of the officers guarding her at a deserted cabin, since she would have to testify at trial. The longer she spent with the officer – Decland – the more attracted to him she became. Is there any hope for a happy relationship between a by-the-book police officer and a lonely half-demon woman?

These three romance stories were well-written, with erotic overtones, and were interesting and captured my interest. My favorite was Demon Protection Plan…I appreciated Kasidy’s humor and could relate to her feeling of isolation. She was a strong, tough woman who took no nonsense, and I like those qualities in a main character. The three stories all had HEA in common, but not always in the expected fashion. Still, it was good to see that everything worked out for the leading ladies.

About Mary

My name is Mary, and I’m a serious book junkie, with a large personal collection of reading material. I’m fascinated by ghosts, the paranormal, and true crime stories. I love discovering the possibilities in the next world and am curious about the reasons people do what they do in this one. I’ve been reading since the age of 3, and always have a book or two or three going. I’m an elementary school substitute teacher, and I always have a book or two in my “bag of tricks”. My new favorite is “Frog in a Bog”. My husband and daughter do not share my passion for books, and secretly think I’ve gone over the top with my collecting and reading habits, but I firmly believe there are worse habits I could have!
