About The Ring and the Crown:

“Magic is power, and power is magic…

Once they were inseparable, just two little girls playing games in a formidable castle. Now Princess Marie-Victoria, heir to the mightiest empire in the world, and Aelwyn Myrddyn, a bastard mage, face vastly different futures.

Quiet and gentle, Marie has never lived up to the ambitions of her mother, Queen Eleanor the Second. With the help of her Merlin, Eleanor has maintained a stranglehold on the world’s only source of magic. While the enchanters faithfully serve the crown, the sun will never set on the Franco-British Empire.

As the annual London Season begins, the great and noble families across the globe flaunt their wealth and magic at parties, teas, and, of course, the lavish Bal du Drap d’Or, the Ball of the Gold Cloth.

But the talk of the season is Ronan Astor, a social-climbing American with only her dazzling beauty to recommend her. Ronan is determined to make a good match to save her family’s position. But when she falls for a handsome rogue on the voyage over, her lofty plans are imperiled by her desires.

Meanwhile, Isabelle of Orleans, daughter of the displaced French royal family, finds herself cast aside by Leopold, heir to the Prussian crown, in favor of a political marriage to Marie-Victoria. Isabelle arrives in the city bent on reclaiming what is hers. But Marie doesn’t even want Leopold-she has lost her heart to a boy the future queen would never be allowed to marry.

When Marie comes to Aelwyn, desperate to escape a life without love, the girls form a perilous plan that endangers not only the entire kingdom but the fate of the monarchy.”

  1. I love the cover. I keep finding more items within the red :). And yes, I know that I’ll really enjoy this read.

  2. United States of America, Sara Sussman i love the trailer!

  3. I really like the cover. It’s very differnet, but I like it! Makes me wonder what the process was like creating this boook cover.

And what’s not to love about reading this?! So basically that’s a yes, this is something that I’d love to read.

  4. I think the cover is just okay – I love the description of the book but envision a different cover from the description so for me it’s the description that sells the book and not the cover so much

  5. The cover is gorgeous!
Melissa, how difficult is it going from the vampire world of the Blue Bloods to a world of magic?

  6. Honestly? I loved the top half but the flower hat is a little different… the good news is that the description won me over completely!

  7. I really like the cover, but I wish the whole face was showing instead of just half. This does sound like a book I would really enjoy, and I look forward to reading The Ring and the Crown.

  8. I certainly love the cover for The Ring and the Crown. It’s colorful and I especially love color. I am a fan of Melissa’s Blue Blood series, so I would definitely give this a try. I’m all for reading about one’s life at Court.

  9. Christy Peeples DuBois

I usually don’t pay too much attention to the cover of a book until I’ve read a good bit of the book, then they make more sense to me. Yes I would like to read this book.

  10. Love the cover! It drew me to the book immediately. I will definitely be reading this!!!

  11. I love the cover- cover art in genral needs to make more use of the color red. This is beautiful done. I think the book sounds fantastic- I love magic, complicated plots, and alt-history stuff and if there is a little bit of Arthurian lore I am so there.

  12. The cover is gorgeous, I added it to my TBR list as soon as I saw it (a while ago), of course I add everything my Melissa… so it would have been read anyways; but the synopsis is intriguing and the trailer is haunting. I just posted the trailer on FB because it begs to be shared!

  13. I’ve heard of Melissa, but don’t know her work…the concept is very evocative, and I’m curious!

    • Aagh, put the wrong date for Screen Bites in the Rafflecopter (it should be 3/23, not 3/24)…sorry about that!

  14. What a fascinating cover! The blurb is intriguing and I would be very interested in reading the book. Love the combination of magic and historical fiction.

  15. The cover is gorgeous and I am very intrigued. I love the mix of magic and political intrigue.

  16. Like the colors, think the font would pop more done a little differently. The read sounds interesting. I would read it from the introduction….

  17. this looks like it will be a good read. thanks for having the contest and happy spring. Good luck with your writing in future may you have a long and happy career.

  18. I love the color of the cover, but there’s nothing about it that really lets me know I’m looking at a fantasy novel. If all I had to go on was the cover, I’d probably skip over it when browsing. However, the synopsis sounds amazing, and I like the author’s work quite a bit. I definitely want to read the book!

  19. I’m liking the cover art!

  20. That cover is awesome!
The trailer just made me want to read the story C:
