Slade by Sarah McCarty

Jane Frederickson knew in the back of her mind that there was more to the company she was working for than they had told her about, but her work and research was more important than any inkling of distrust she felt. Her breakthrough, after years of research, could possibly help world hunger problems—but it could also be used as a targeted weapon, and she could not allow anyone the access to that work. Working in the lab, she only had minutes when the walls come crashing in on her. The only chance at survival was the sudden appearance of VampMan, her online friend, who helped her escape the creatures that have come for her and her work. She cannot trust anyone with her secrets, even the man who saved her from the monsters—even if her heart tells her it is safe to trust the man who calls himself a monster, too.

Slade Johnson had always been the one to have his brothers’ backs, always been the level-headed one, smart, strong and quick to find a way to defeat the Sanctuary vampires at their own games. This time, he was stumped and it was going to cost them a very important life if they didn’t find a way to stop whatever was ravaging the poor soul from within. Using his considerable skills with both technology and computers, he soon found a glimmer of hope with the connection he had made with the scientist who possibly held the answers to their dilemma within her mind, but the walls were closing in on her and there was little time to save her from those who hunted her. He needed her safe, and his heart told him he needed her in his life forever, but he needed her trust more if she was going to help him save the future of the Renegades and his family from losing faith in their battle against Sanctuary.

I was both entranced and obsessed by Slade and Jane’s story as their passion and their convictions evolved into a bond of both love and trust. Ms. McCarty once again melded the genres to deliver a sexy, dangerous and totally captivating erotic paranormal romance heaped with suspense, emotion and stimulating witty dialogue. Slade and Jane are perfect mates for each other;l their intellect, their drive and their intense devotion to right the wrongs of the world all combine to make them both compelling and entertaining to the reader. I loved their initial online conversations and their first physical introduction to each other as they dealt with the deadly threat chasing them. Their flight for safety was both funny and sexy, which only compelled me to devour the book even faster than my normal pace. I cannot wait to get my hands on more of these sexy vampire cowboys as they continue to fight for what is right and to protect the women and family they love.
