Shadow of Time by Jen Minkman

Hannah Darson was looking forward to spending a relaxing summer with her brother on Lake Powell in Arizona. Their mother’s log cabin had always been a welcome retreat, and Hannah was happy to reconnect with old friends and work on her tan, nothing more strenuous than that. At dinner with her brother, Ben, Hannah was embarrassed to see the young man from the gas station earlier that day—the one that had heard her singing, had spoken directly to her, and had completely addled her—was Ben’s best friend, Josh.

Josh Benally carried the weight of many worlds upon his shoulders. He had heavy responsibilities, both in this time and past lives, and he took them very seriously. Seeing Hannah again brought back memories of past times, and he was not sure he was willing to subject himself to heartbreak and loss yet another time.

Don’t let the length of the book scare you away. This is a beautiful story, finely crafted, that clearly describes what Hannah and Josh are going through in their journey through this life. Hannah is easy to love; she’s a likeable character that, although she doesn’t understand all that is happening to her, is willing to keep an open mind and trust those around her. Josh is less open—after all, he’s hiding years of secrets and solitude, with no one to confide in but the tribe’s medicine man. I absolutely loved this book; in fact, I couldn’t put it down. Jen Minkman has written a captivating story that will grab your attention and touch your heart.

About Mary

My name is Mary, and I’m a serious book junkie, with a large personal collection of reading material. I’m fascinated by ghosts, the paranormal, and true crime stories. I love discovering the possibilities in the next world and am curious about the reasons people do what they do in this one. I’ve been reading since the age of 3, and always have a book or two or three going. I’m an elementary school substitute teacher, and I always have a book or two in my “bag of tricks”. My new favorite is “Frog in a Bog”. My husband and daughter do not share my passion for books, and secretly think I’ve gone over the top with my collecting and reading habits, but I firmly believe there are worse habits I could have!
