Requiem by Ashley M. Christman

Kathryn is a soul who has been around for almost six thousand years. She has seen civilizations come and go, and has realized that nothing really changes. In the course of time Kathryn finds herself in Los Angeles. For the most part she keeps to herself, except when she feeds. She was involved with a human once years ago, and his loss broke her heart. She had vowed never again to do so, but that changes when she meets Aiden.

Jack is an angel whom Kathryn has been in love with for almost as many years as she has been Vampire, but their love cannot be, as for him to succumb would result in his fall from Heaven.

How the three characters’ lives intertwine is an interesting mixture and says a lot about humanity’s ability to “roll with the punches.” Ashley’s characters are vibrant and poignant in their sorrows and downfalls. She looks at how we relate to one another, beyond the ties of blood and marriage, and what keeps us moving forward.

It is not your typical romance, as the Vampire does not go looking for love. She does not even want to find love, and yet it finds her. Though I did not see how the story would end, I was quite pleased with the outcome and congratulate Ashley M. Christman for keeping me guessing all the way through — the mark of a very gifted writer. I would definitely suggest this to anyone who enjoys vampire romances.

About Kersyn

Kersyn is an avid reader who dreams of one day having books listed on Bitten by Books. Until that time she keeps up her constant diet of books; read, devoured, savored, and digested. She lives in a zoo with many pets, both four and two legged who keep her pretty busy chasing them all, but in between times of running she has her trusty book at her side. If a book is not in her hands then it is either a cross-stitch or craft project.
