Remembering Ashby by Heather Long

Beltane is approaching and the clans have met at Ashby Crossing to celebrate the Festival. Many different things are afoot, and not everything is as it seems. A Hunt will be run to celebrate the coming of spring, and a senior member of the party that has the Hunt maidens is planning something detrimental to one of them. Will he win, or will love rule out?

Adam is at Ashby representing the Fraser and the rest of his clan until the Fraser will come to the Festival himself. He wants to do what is right but may wind up doing what is wrong.

Melanie is one of the maiden priestesses. She doesn’t understand why she was chosen as she has no calling to be a full priestess but feels it her duty nonetheless. Will she live up to what is required of her?

Orywen is called The Sorcerer and is a senior member of the party with the maidens, though he is only supposed to be a non-participant. He, however, has his own reasons for coming, and they are, indeed, a bit of a tangled web. Is he the good man other members of his party think he is or is he simply out for his own good?

Remembering Ashby is a story of standing up for not only what you believe but for what is in your heart as well – and how those two things are not always at cross purposes. It is a story of love and of magic. It is also a story of how the old ways can ring true and bind people of differing upbringings into a single purpose. A really good read.
