Quicky Giveaway brought to you by Off the Fang!

PLEASE NOTE: I’m now leaving this contest open until February 22nd. It will be open two weeks, not one.

The gist of the situation is this: “Simon & Schuster and Barnes & Noble are locked in a dispute over terms. Although the exact nature of the disagreement is not yet clear, B&N has significantly reduced its orders from S&S. The main reason for the cutback seems to be, according to sources, B&N’s perceived lack of support from S&S.” I found this quote on the Publisher’s Weekly website.

This kerfuffle affects one of my fave authors, including Linda Robertson and her new release, Shattered Circle. A fan of Teresa Medeiros? You may have difficulty finding The Temptation of Your Touch. Looking to check out a goddess of sex and war? You may have a difficult time finding Dangerous Gifts by Gaie Sebold.

To counteract the lower number of S&S books B&N received, I’m going to hold a contest. Since my face is swollen to the size of a grapefruit due to the awesome quadruple wisdom tooth extraction last week, it’s going to be a simple one: buy a copy of Shattered Circle from anywhere, send me the receipt (jackie AT bittenbybooks DOT com), and you’ll be entered to win TWO of the books listed in this week’s poll. That’s right, buy one and you can get two free! I’ll pick a winner by the end of next week and post it in a new Off the Fang column. You MUST check back to see if you won. I am far too sore to chase you down. 🙂

About Jackie

  1. Will check to see if Wal-mart has it. Traditionally, I’ve always bought most of my massmarket paperbacks from Amazon as these were generally buy three get one free but as Amazon has done away with this, will have to do additional searching.

  2. They don’t do that anymore?? Dangit, Amazon! That was one of my favorite features. 🙁

  3. Dang and I am currently broke and netless.

    • Me too, lol. On the broke part at least. But I haven’t had a contest in a while, so I figured, eh, why not? I may extend it to two weeks to let people get their tax returns. 🙂

      • That is what we are waiting for. They said possibly the 15. Waiting is so hard

        • Luke already got his, the butthead. I have the education credit on mine, so they won’t even process it until the middle of the month. Ya know what? I will extend this for another week. Maybe I’ll give TWO people prizes! And maybe it’s the pain meds talking, hahaha.

  4. Yeah, my B&N doesn’t have any of Linda’s books. That makes sense now with this bit of info. Was just glad B&N.com had it!

    • My review copy arrived Monday and the copy I bought from Amazon arrived last night, lol. Double the Linda, double the fun! Oh lord…must lay off the coffee…

  5. I hope you heal quickly! I had all 4 of mine cut out when I was in high school and was in a lot of pain. Good luck!
I have a Kindle, so I rarely shop at B&N, but for those who do, I hope they resolve it soon. 🙂

    • I’m a Kindle fan myself. I’ve had two generations so far and I LOVE it! The ease with which you can buy books is not a good thing for me, though, lol.

  6. Nice. Book giveaways, drugs, and taxes all in one thread. That’s some fine work there.

  7. So cruel. Tempting me with more Johnny and the prospect of two more books that I have absolutely no room for! Seriously so cruel. Well now I have to do this!

I was going to try to read Shattered Circle later, that way I could shorten the time that I’d have to wait for the next one. (And yes I realize the flaws in my logic, but I refuse to acknowledge them)

But now I don’t think I can wait, so I suppose I’ll have to buy it now in exchange for something I was actually supposed to pay for. And whatever it is, it’ll be totally worth it.

Oh and I had my wisdom teeth taken out a couple years ago. I feel your pain. I also remember the mouth wash they made me use. It was easily the worst tasting thing I had ever put in my mouth. So heal fast and I hope you didn’t have to use the mouthwash.

    • Not to be a tease, but you’re going to see a whole new side of Johnny in this one! hehe

Luckily, no on the mouthwash. I use salt and warm water. My lower right jaw has been numb for over a week though. Temp nerve damage. Gotta love it! It *should* come back to life in six weeks. SHOULD. Ugh…

      • Seriously! That was totally a tease! Now I don’t know what I’m going to do until I get my hands on it!

        • When I said “hands on it” I meant the book! Okay, so after I posted that I realized how that sounded. SO I feel I should clarify, because looking at it, it kinda reads dirty. And with this crowd you never know! 🙂

          • We need to develop a UF/PR-specific phrase for that. Freudian slip just doesn’t do it justice. I’m going to have to think on this…

  8. i have around $12 on my amazon balance, but darn, i live outside the us, so can’t buy it due to the balance can’t cover the shipping fee..

  9. I wish I had the money.

  10. Since lots of B&N are going out of business doesnt surprise me-I am a Kindle buyer so if its in the Cloud-Buy

  11. count me i! love to win!!

  13. Woohoo! Johnny on the way!
