Night Thief By Lisa Kessler

Marguerite braved the dangerous streets of Paris in order to steal from wealthy men, all to fund her plan of escape to the new world, planning to save not only herself, but also her cousin Callia from the monster with whom they were living. She was well known to the police, who had given her the nickname Le Voleur D’Or, The Golden Thief. Unbeknownst to Marguerite, she was observed one night by Kane Bordeaux, and Kane decided to set a trap for her, wearing his most ostentatious jewelry and attending the social affairs he usually avoided, until finally he spotted her at a dance.

Kane was thrilled to have located Le Voleur D’Or after weeks of searching, but as they danced, he realized he had developed strong feelings for the beautiful woman. Even after she stole his ruby-encrusted pocket watch, he still wanted her, and he followed her as she silently slipped away from the dance, catching her with his watch, along with other trinkets she had stolen that evening. Kane was wildly attracted to Marguerite, but was reluctant to reveal his true status as a Night Walker, an ancient god, feeling that she would be horrified.

Marguerite’s struggles to survive her existence as the companion to a violent vampire demonstrate that she is a strong woman and explain her initial wariness of Kane. Kane’s lonely life as an immortal had been tested in many ways but he had avoided entanglements with humans until meeting Marguerite. Night Thief is full of passion and emotion, with plenty of intrigue and action, and held my interest throughout.

About Mary

My name is Mary, and I’m a serious book junkie, with a large personal collection of reading material. I’m fascinated by ghosts, the paranormal, and true crime stories. I love discovering the possibilities in the next world and am curious about the reasons people do what they do in this one. I’ve been reading since the age of 3, and always have a book or two or three going. I’m an elementary school substitute teacher, and I always have a book or two in my “bag of tricks”. My new favorite is “Frog in a Bog”. My husband and daughter do not share my passion for books, and secretly think I’ve gone over the top with my collecting and reading habits, but I firmly believe there are worse habits I could have!
