Night Demon by Lisa Kessler

Night Demon: The Night Series by Lisa KesslerLukas Smith’s frustration with his work was growing stronger. Daylight was coming soon, and Lukas needed to be safely away from the sun, but he was determined to solve the mystery the Mayan glyph held for him. Lukas was an immortal, a Night Walker, who felt comfortable in the jungle even though lately the ambiance had shifted slightly. All of Lukas’s research had led him to the writings of the Mayan priests, writings he and his assistant were working to translate. Gretchen had located several tiles with jungle animals, understandable for the area, but when she found one of a wolf, both she and Lukas were confused.

The Guardian sensed that she was coming back. He heard her calling to him and knew Camalotz was poised to strike and destroy the earth. Only the four Night Walker gods of the North, South, East, and West could stop her, but would they return to the Yucatan jungle in time to prevent total destruction?

Lukas’s struggles with his identity led to confusion and fear, and his growing attraction to Gretchen did not help. Gretchen’s knowledge of the Mayan language and ability to translate was impressive, and her feelings for Lukas were the perfect representation of a hopeless romance, mirrored by the partnership of Camalotz and the Guardian. The four gods were well prepared to take on the battle against Camalotz, until one of them seemingly has a change of heart. Night Demon was an action-packed, exciting read, one I was totally engrossed in, and I am looking forward to the next books in the series.

About Mary

My name is Mary, and I’m a serious book junkie, with a large personal collection of reading material. I’m fascinated by ghosts, the paranormal, and true crime stories. I love discovering the possibilities in the next world and am curious about the reasons people do what they do in this one. I’ve been reading since the age of 3, and always have a book or two or three going. I’m an elementary school substitute teacher, and I always have a book or two in my “bag of tricks”. My new favorite is “Frog in a Bog”. My husband and daughter do not share my passion for books, and secretly think I’ve gone over the top with my collecting and reading habits, but I firmly believe there are worse habits I could have!
