Love’s True Enchantment by Judith Leger

Caitlyn is a reporter with who dreams of breaking through the mundane ranks and reaching for the stars. She wants to become that world-known reporter that people turn to for the truth and hard hitting stories. Then out of the blue, an offer appears to undertake an exclusive interview with Shay Evers, an illusionist that until now has refused all press interactions. Caitlyn has felt drawn to Shay for some time but has refused to do more than watch his shows. She decides to do a tell-all interview and try and expose him to the world as the fraud he must surely be.

All alone in the world after having a childhood she was pleased to escape, Caitlyn relies on her friend Marcy for support. With an inner strength she has fostered, she is driven with the intent of reaching that elusive star reporter status. With the opportunity for this exclusive interview dropped into her lap, she is intent on revealing all to the world but finds she struggles with her feelings for Shay. Caitlyn is drawn to him and finds it harder and harder to stay objective, especially when he starts appearing in her dreams.

Shay is trying desperately to atone for past sins and save Caitlyn from her fate. He needs her to trust him and believe in the unbelievable. Shay is working against time and is hindered by both those who love Caitlyn and those who curse her. Throughout the story, Shay stays true to his need to help Caitlyn; at times, this comes at great personal cost.

Love’s True Enchantment started out a little slow, and I found my attention wandering, but it did gather speed, and in the last half of the story, I was riveted and had to keep reading (even while supposedly working oops). Because of the slow start, I did only give it 3.5 tombstones. Not quite sure how this could be worked around as a lot of the necessary background was presented at the start. There were some moments where the outcome was a little predictable, but this is a romance at its heart, so the guy does need to get the girl at the end of it all. Overall, an enjoyable fantasy romance.

About Emma D.

Emma – From early childhood my parents encouraged me to read and I spent most of my time either with my nose in a book or on my horse. While my parents can take the glory for my love of reading they have no idea where I got my love of animals (horses and dogs in particular) from. I got my first dog when I was 8 but had to hand him back as my younger siblings where scared of him (he was a bouncy puppy). So I got a horse and my parents promise I could get a dog when I was fourteen (they thought I would forget). Well I turned 14 and asked for my dog J I’ve had one ever since. Now days as an adult my time is split between work, reading, my dog (just in the last year and a half I’ve taken up dog agility) and still occasionally some horses. When reading I read across a wide variety of genres from sci fi and fantasy to murder/mystery. I’m not particularly fond of historical but otherwise I’ll give anything a try.
