Hunter by Stephanie Cottrell Bryant

Lusting for the power that the blood of a werewolf brings, crafty vampire Haley disguises herself as a shifter in order to join with a powerful pack of werewolves. In a season with them, learning their power dynamics and finding a way to take the Alpha’s blood without inciting war between their kinds, she finds something in his son that she never could have expected: forgiveness.

A tantalizing short-story from a vivid writer, “Hunter” is one great read. I can’t believe it was only fifty pages – the author packed so much into it. I hope she continues Haley and David’s tale, and I plan to be on the lookout for more of this woman’s work. The settings and world-building are fantastic, even from the little glimpse readers are given here.
