Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh

Heart of Obsidian (Psy/Changeling) by Nalini SinghThis is one of the most anticipated books, not just of the year, but of the Psy-Changeling series. I’ve loved Kaleb since I first met him…yup, I’m a sucker for the powerful, seemingly bad guys. I’ve also been making a short list of who the Ghost could be.

There’s so much plot going on in this book. Kaleb is a councilor who has two goals. One is to fix the rot that is taking root in the Psy-net. The second? To find Sahara. She was taken from him, and he has been relentlessly searching for her since. There are other councilors that will need to be taken down, humans who are way too dangerous, and of course, the Changelings who have Psy and cubs to protect, as well as issues of their own.

Kaleb’s backstory is so interesting. He’s the worst councilor’s prodigy, the one who brutalized Brenna in book one. Was he unwilling? Willing? Just what is his power? Each book gets better, and honestly, there are only two books in this series that I wasn’t in love with; every other installment just grows so much. To this day, I still reread Slave to Sensation because it is still one of my favorite books. The truth is that Nalini Singh simply gets better and more complex with each book, each plot grows exponentially, and I can’t wait to see where this series goes and what the next book entails.

  1. Awesome review! I’ll have to pick this up. I am such a huge fan of Singh. Her work is amazing. Slave to Sensation is also one of my most favorite books ever. I re-read it often, as well as Caressed by Ice–JUDD!! <3 <3

I honestly had no idea when I first saw this book cover that Heart of Obsidian was from the Psy-Changeling series. I thought it was for Singh's Guild Hunter series, which I have no interest in reading (a personal preference). However, now that I know this book is part of the Psy-Changeling series, you know I'll be gobbling it up now. It sounds so good!

    Great review!
