Desire the Night by Amanda Ashley

Kay Aliassano is enjoying her ordinary life working in a veterinarian’s clinic during the day, shopping with her best friend and on the rare occasion, a night out on the town. Except for full moon nights when she turns furry, it is a very ordinary life – and that makes it absolutely precious to her. She has won one year of freedom from her pack’s compound and her Alpha father. Her year of freedom comes to an abrupt end, however, when after a drink at a club she wakes up in a cell, with a very hungry vampire watching her. It seems she has traded one prison for another and may not survive this one.

Gideon has been wrapped in silver chains and locked up for years with his blood being drained by a witch intent on maintaining her (false) youthful beauty. He is kept almost starved and in agony so that when “dinner” is thrown into his cell he is unable to resist draining the life from the helpless women who are as much prisoners as he is. His latest dinner, however, is different. Her blood tastes funny and her defiance amuses him. He soon learns her secret, but there are more yet to discover. Kay’s greatest secret, however, is that even if she and Gideon are able to somehow escape, she faces an even greater threat. She may find freedom when she is in Gideon’s arms, but her future holds only chains of duty and family.

Amanda Ashley has written yet another spellbinding love story that delights the senses, fires the imagination and has enough twists and turns to elicit gasps. The characters are strong and vulnerable, the challenges seem overwhelming, and love barely wins the day. Desire the Night is a highly engaging and enjoyable read – perfect for a cozy, cold winter’s day or a lazy afternoon in the warm sun.
