Dark Dichotomy: Misbehaving by Aubrey Ross

Kendra Lawrence gets a bit more than she expects when she takes a renovation job for a cottage on the estate of the reclusive Burton family in Napa Valley. Meeting with Torral, one of the Burton brothers, Kendra feels an instant and very intense attraction to him. Torral’s senses are assaulted by Kendra’s presence but feels more than arousal. He can feel his other half, Ryan, stirring even though it is not yet dusk. Though appearing as two different men, one during the day and one during the night, they occupy the same body and are Dichotomy. A different breed with unknown origins, Dichotomy appear as humans but have different abilities and life spans. The only time both can emerge is at dusk or dawn when the sleeping one wakes. The one that is preparing for sleep is able to stay for no more than an hour before being, for lack of a better word, absorbed back into the main body.

As Torral is going over the renovation plans with Kendra, Ryan awakens enough to warn Torral that Kendra is in danger. He also informs Torral that she is their mate and to keep her safe, Kendra must stay on the estate and participate in the soul bonding with Torral and Ryan. While they find ways to get her to stay and gradually explain things to Kendra, Torral and Ryan are also aware of another Dichotomy who is basically stalking them psychically. The stakes are raised even higher after a kidnap attempt is made on Kendra. Together the three of them must forge their own relationship to strengthen their defenses against the unknown threat.

The start of the Dark Dichotomy series, this was a very steamy and interesting story. The culture that Ms. Ross has developed with the Dichotomy is a unique twist in the paranormal/fantasy world. The two “brothers” definitely will hold your attention and I can not wait to read more about this family.
