“Immortality bites.

Wanda Schwartz is raking in the dough selling Bobbie-Sue Cosmetics—and she’s a pro at recruiting new saleswomen. So, she’s shocked when a man comes to one of her in-home parties—a very hot man. Heath Jefferson is sure to put some extra spin into a lot of women’s color wheels.

When Wanda is diagnosed with a terminal illness, it doesn’t have to be a death sentence. With a werewolf and a vampire for best friends, she has options that most ordinary people wouldn’t. As Wanda ponders what to do about her mortality, Heath reveals he has secrets, and one of them is that his former bloodlust has turned into an old-fashioned lust—for Wanda. And he’s already given up too much to lose the love of his lifetimes.”

About Site Hostess

  1. Just wanted you to know that I got a hold of Accidentially Dead and The Accidential Werewolf in January. Read both books over a weekend and feel in love with the Bobbie Sue sellars. I burst out loud in laughter several times as Nina and Marty went through the change of a life time. Can’t wait to get a copy of The Accidential Human whether it is free or purchased. But sure would be great to win a copy. Thanks for making the sureal world visable and loveable for us readers.

    Lisa Richards

  2. Hi Dakota! Having read The Accidental Werewolf and Accidentally Dead, I was so excited to hear about The Accidental Human. I knew Wanda had a story to be told! I am also looking forward to Kiss and Hell. I just requested you as a friend on myspace and now am following you on Twitter ( that does sound kind of stalkerish, doesn’t it?) thanks for offering up some books for this contest, and even if I don’t win one, you can bet I will be reading your books when they come out! Have a great evening!

  3. Thanks, the two Lisa’s! You guys are awesome 🙂

    DC 🙂

  4. Ya know there lady that I love your books! I have the first two in the series and have been ‘dying’ to read this one! Gotta have it! Gotta! Gotta! Gotta!

  5. I haven’t tried your books before, but your Accidental series sounds like a lot of fun to read. I really enjoyed Chapter 1 of The Accidental Human.

As a new reader, should I go back and start with the first in the series, or can I jump in with this one and then go back and read the first two?

  6. Link added to blogroll here:

  7. Oh look an excuse to go book shopping. I’ve been eye balling Accidental Human a lot lately. You’re a new to me author but I’ve heard your name a lot it seems and it is all telling me to buy… buy…. buy.

  8. Ruthie, me darlin’–thank you, thank you–you da bomb-diggety 🙂

Karin–nah, you don’t really need to read the first two. I try really hard to keep them stand alone so you don’t have to invest in so much at once–’cause I’m a LOT. LOL. However, I will say, that the three women’s relationship changes in many ways during the course of the first two books and it offers up some insight to them as a trio from Hell (snort), but it really isn’t necessary. I explain how everyone got where they are as briefly as I can in each book 🙂

Brandy W–you’ve heard my name a lot because people take it in vain. LOLLOL

    DC 🙂

  9. Lillie Applegarth

I have had this series on my wish list for months. This is a great contest!

  11. ummmmmmmmmmm I was told to say Lillie A sent me….;):P

  12. Lillie Applegarth sent me and I posted the contest on my blog.

Like Karin I have not yet read your books. I’ve heard great reviews on many reading yahoo groups which piqued my interest.

This may seem like a silly question, why write in this genre? What helps you with ideas with your books?

  13. Hey Dakota, wishing you good luck on the book… Have not had a chance to pick it up yet since all the freaking DR appointments I have to go to but will def… get it as soon as I can…..

    Love chatting with ya

    Cindy Mac

  14. I also added Dakota Cassidy Links Here:

  15. Raonaid Luckwell–well, I think I write in this genre because it’s the easiest to not only “what if”, but to snark, ya know? I do a lot of play on the crazier aspects of the paranormal–like, if you’re a werewolf, dude, you got a tail… THAT’S FUNNY (to me, anyway). And you look like a dog. It cracks me up. Same thing with vamps and demons, etc. There’s so much to crack wise about, make much bigger than RL because it’s not real. Well, I don’t “think” it is. I mean, if you know a vamp or a were–I want in. LOL

    Cindy Mac–you rulz 🙂

    DC 🙂

  16. Just stopped by to give some love to Dakota. The Accidental Human is an awesome book!! Yay, Dakota!

(Don’t enter me in the contest, I already have the book.)

The first two books were GREAT! I laughed my… errr… butt off! Anyone who wants to get a good read and some teary laughs READ HER BOOKS!

  19. I guess I’ll make it the 3 Lisa’s on the comments! I loved the first 2 Accidental books and have eagerly awaiting book 3. I can’t wait to read how Wanda and Heath get together! I’ve heard rumors of a book 4, but are there more people in the series with stories to tell after that?

  20. Roxanne–thank you!

    Lisa three (LOL)–yes, there’s another and it’s Wanda’s sister Casey 🙂 It’s called Accidentally Demonic 🙂

    DC 🙂

  23. Accidental Human sounds good. I hope to get to read!

  24. Bridget H–thank you!

Margay–I got the idea from a convention I was at where we shared the hotel with some mary-Kay ladies. If I’m honest, despite my love of al things girlie, they cracked me up! They are some motivated babes. Somehow, the idea of a cosmetic selling werewolf hit me, and here I am. LOLLOL

  38. Hi Dakota~

I am so looking forward to reading The Accidental Human and Kiss and Hell sounds great.

How is the Rock Band going? Are you still the most awesomest? (Yes, I know this probably not the correct way to spell this.)

  39. I’m so looking forward to checking out your books, Dakota. course you know that. I mentioned that earlier today. LOL.

And Rachel, she’s already my friend on facebook, and I added her to my myspace. 🙂 You know I will retweet too. 😀

    Teresa–thank you!

    DC 🙂

  41. I haven’t yet read the Accidental series but they’ve been on my tbr list for a while. They all sound really good. Kiss & Hell looks like it’s going to be good too.

  42. Hello Dakota I have not read your books yet, but I did enjoy reading the first chapter of The Accidental Human. I plan to purchase the first 2 books, and I befriended you on MySpace so I can follow your releases and learn more about you and your books.

  43. This book sounds like so much fun, I first saw it over at another site and so wanted it, and then I saw there was more 😀
    Cover is cute too

  44. I know there are quite a few people who don’t really care for the Twilight Sage. Is this series anything like that?

  45. I read Accidently Dead first so after I started reading it I looked for the Accidental Werewolf so I could get it. And to my Absolute joy I found there were other books by Dakota Cassity, which I also bought, of course. So far I believe I have read or are reading all or most of Dakota’s books as I am now reading and enjoying Accidental Human. Looking forward to Kiss And Hell. Keep up the good work Dakota and I will keep buying. Cathy

  46. i love dakotas books there great!!loved the first 2 books and ive heard this book is the last for the 3 mains involved!!i wonder how wanda gets on in this book, what feature creature will she become???
    becca uk

  47. So, should one read the first 2 before reading this one?

  48. I would love to win this book it has been on my wishlist since I heard about the book. I loved the review. I am a subscriber to your email.

  49. Hey Dakota,

I would love to be able to win one of your books. I tried on your website contest. No Luck. I hope I can this time. Have a great day.

  50. Reading can help keep you sane!

  51. Enjoyed the review for Blood Lite! Love the concept of a chunky vampire. Goes to show a vampire cannot live by blood alone! Just the thought of it makes me chuckle. And, as I’m a pleasingly plump women myself, I know there are men out there that prefer a little meat on the bone. Thanks for starting my day off with a laugh.

  52. I have bittenbybooks on my blog roll http://www.luckyrosiescreations.blogspot.com/

  53. Dakota ~~

Can you tell us, is this series finished after The Accidental Human? Or did some new ideas pop up into that wonderful brain of yours?

  54. Greetings Dakota,
I hope I’m fortunate enough to win ACCIDENTAL HUMAN. I do so enjoy your ACCIDENTAL books. Funny. I’m reading scads of paranormals and then sending them to my sister. Her name is Wanda. Good omen? You betcha! You biteya? Heehee….

I shared this with TiaBangs@yahoogroups.com and invited friends (as usual). Dakota is already my friend in MySpace.

  55. OOOOOO This book is already on my Amazon wish list, and now there is a chance to win it? ::squeeeeeee:: I love the premise, although I have to admit it was those awesome covers that caught my eye first. I am looking forward to reading this series, it sounds very fun!

  56. Arg! I’ve already purchased the first two! In fact, just read the second in anticipation of the third… Ah well, I guess this is one entry for me! 🙂 Can’t wait to read it!

BBB – Thanks for the reviews!!

  57. Dakota,
I read about your series a while back and it

  58. I would love to get these in e-format but I can’t find them for anything but Kindle. Are any other formats available?

If you had to take your least favorite person (evil villian in one of your stories)shopping? Who would it be and what sort of shopping would you torture them with?

  59. Pick Me, Pick me. Need I say more?? Hi Dakota! I love your “Accidental” books.

  60. Kay D –oh, heck no. I mean, I think. Twilight is a YA book for younger adults–this definitely doesn’t qualify for anyone under 18. LOL. These are stories of three women and their journeys into the paranormal, and they’re humorous 🙂

Willow–I’d emailed my agent to wish her a happy holiday. Everything was closing down until January. I tld her if I didn’t hear from her-hope it was a good one. She emailed back and said, “Oh, you’ll hear from me.” Instantly, I thought I was in trouble. I’m pretty lay low, but I thought surely I’d messed up on a blog or something and she was going to beat me down for bad behavior. LOL.

Two seconds later the phone rings–it’s her number on caller ID. I suck it up because I can take a good reaming. She’s screaming. I start to scream, too. I don’t know why, but it seemed like we both should be doing it together. She yells Cindy Hwang wants to buy my books. I yell, who’s she? LOLLOL. I was absolutely clueless because I was definitely unaware of most names of editors and agents etc. And that’s what started it all–Berkley bought two books, and then two more, and now two more. Seriously–who knew? LOL

Marnie–I think it might just be for he Kindle, but I’m not 100% sure… And I’d take Linda Fisher–she’s a real meanie-butt in all three stories. I’d take her to the manners store and buy her some. LOL

    DC 🙂

  61. Ruthie–there’s another out in Feb 2010 called Accidentally Demonic–back in line with the crazy hijinks of the first two. No tissues this time, I promise 🙂

    DC 🙂

  62. Draculissa sent me! 🙂

I’ve never read your books but I’ve heard lots of good things about them. I would love to start with this book! Thank you!

  63. gasp! i cannot wait to read the coming books. i’m jumping with joy. huzzah! hope i get the chance to win. hope your day is going well! 🙂

  64. Werewolves, vampires & laughing out – sounds like just the ticket to me. Would love to win for a quick chance to see! Thanks BBB, Rachel & Dakota for this great give-away.

  65. Hey, Dakota! **Jackie blows air kisses**

  66. I definitely want to read this series. It sounds SOOO good! Thanks for chance to win.

  67. It’s Da Kessler! Big hugs, lovey!

    Everyone else–thank you, thank you!

    DC 🙂

  68. Dakota, I’m loving all your answers. If the humor that’s coming through in your answers is any indication of what I can expect when I start reading the Accidental Series, I know I’m going to enjoy it so much.

With that in mind, which book did you enjoy writing the most? Which was the hardest?

  69. hey, Karin, and thanks! Definitely the hardest was Wanda in this recent release. She’s dying, so that’s never good, but because of the friendship the three share, and the scene where she tells her friends what’s happening and her diagnosis was really hard. I kind of had to try and put myself in her shoes (which would suck Raptor testicles. LOL), and then I had to take her shoes off and put on her friends so I could properly depict how they felt about their best friend dying. Then you have to keep everyone’s reactions in character–which isn’t normally difficult unless the situation they’re presented is out of their comfort zone.

Overall, it was a weeks worth of getting it out, tweaking it, re-tweaking it until I felt like I’d done it justice, but it definitely drained me 🙂

So this next installment is going to be back to the light and fluffy. LOL

    DC 🙂

  70. Hi Dakota!

Thank you for the Coolest contest and your quick humor!
I admire that you wrote about the subject of dying and that the support of friends is so very important!
So which one of your characters do you see the most of you in? Are you gonna do more in the series maybe based on Jaye and Michelle????
    Have a Great Day!!

Rachel, Thank you for the AWESOMEST CONTEST EVER!! YOU ROCK!!
Heres what I have done to enter!!

I am signed up for Dakota’s newsletter & yahoo group.
I am signed up for here, Blood Bank and you are my friend on myspace along with Dakota!
I told me friends and cc’d you.
    I posted on myspace here:
I commented here and asked question. 🙂

  71. Dakota, that had to be a hard scene to write. But it sounds like a very rich scene and one that I look forward to reading.

Did you know when you started the book that it was going to be darker than the others? Do you think that highlights the humor throughout the series?

  72. Dakota ~~~

Do you consider Friday the 13th a lucky day or an unlucky day? Just thought I’d ask! 😀

  73. I joined Dakota’s mailing list in December 2008 – got message: Welcome to Dakota Cassidy’s mailing list. I’ll have to check if I have joined the Yahoo group! Your humor is GREAT!

  74. Nice to see Dakota over here. 🙂

As always, Bitten by Books is on my blogroll. Thanks!

  75. This book keeps popping up everywhere I read. This might be a sign that I should pick it up!

    13)BBB perma blogrolled.

  76. I haven’t read any of these books but I keep seeing them mentioned and it is getting very tempting to pick some up. I could use so laughs at the moment!

  77. Dakota is a crazy woman! Very fun though, and a fabulous writer.

Both she and BBB are permalinked on my Blogger (http://avidafemmina.blogspot.com), and I posted the contest and the above mentioned Blogger and LiveJournal (http://coffeeisgod.livejournal.com/20243.html).

  78. Chris J–oh, I’m like ALL of them to a degree–I’m much like Marty because I’m a girlie-girl. Nina, because internally I have SOME potty mouth and I’m hadrcore about sucking it up and moving forward like a bulldozer (snort), and I’m like Wanda because I’ve VERY organized, and a bit OCD about some stuff. And I have one more called Accidentally Demonic, but Casey’s nothing like Jaye or Michele… LOL

Karin–oh, it still has the funny, for sure. Dying has moments where I’m sure you just have to laugh to relieve the pressure of the burden of something so enormous–and for the most part the girls don’t know Wanda’s dying–so there’s plenty of giggles. Well, giggles are subjective, but you know what I mean 🙂 And I knew it would have some sad moments, for sure. It is a serious disease Wanda’s dying of–something every woman understands and identifies with. But I wrote it much the way I think I’d handle it if I were in Wanda’s position. And no matter what, I believe in a good laugh.

Ruthie–you know, I always forget it’s the 13th two seconds after I see it’s the 13th. LOL. So not much impact on me, I guess.

Hi, Alana, Poppy, and Holly–and thank you!

Jackie B–you live next door to me, or what? LOL. Thanks for poppin’ by!

    luv ya!

  81. Dakota I love your books. They crack me up. I think you are one of the top ten people I would want to drink with just to enjoy your humor for the night.

  82. Please include me in your giveaway.

  83. I would love to have a copy of this book. Dakota is on my blog roll as wells Bitten By Books. I joined her newsletter earlier this week and forwarded that on.

I have her first to Accidental books and need the third book.

  84. Hi Dakota! How are you?!!

I loved your previous two books and have been anxiously awaiting The Accidental Human! Your characters and writing is so engaging and hilarious. I can’t wait to read this one.

What are you currently working on?
How many books will be in this series?
If you could have one paranormal power what would it be and why that power?

  85. I just finished The Accidental Human. I loved this book! I went to my favorite book reader site and told everyone to read it and told both my daughters to read it and will tell everyone I know to read it! Did I mention I love this book!

  86. Cindy, Cathie, Russell, Becca, Carmen–thank you! Carmen–I’m not a drinker, but I’d love to hang out while you drink–so’s O can point and laugh, ya know? LMAO. I’m kidding.

    Greta–thank you!

RachelfromNJ–dude, Jersey girl in da house! Big shout out. I miss Jersey. Currently I’m almost at the end of Accidentally Demonic which is about Wanda’s sister Casey. I’m not sure how many will be in the series at this point. For me it’s about how long I can keep the idea fresh–so we’ll see. If I could have one paranormal power it’d be to shift. I’d really love to do the werewolf thing–then maybe I could ask my Yorkie why she won’t quit peeing on the floor. LOL

    DC 🙂

  87. How do you keep track of every site you post on? I’m sometimes lucky to just read my email every day!

  88. LOL@darchole–I have like a serious thing for lists–so when I guest at a blog or a group–I keep sticky notes of where I’m supposed to be, for how long, etc. I answer email when I get up, post to my groups–do a quick Tweet and FB, then post to my group.

Sometimes, it’s not easy, but I’m usually at y best when I multi task because my brain is good at being scattered. LOL

    DC 🙂

  89. Hi everybody!!!
    Hi Dakota!

Okay Dakota, I am thinking of a very specific color….

    what is the color?

  90. Hi, Rachel–I KNOW it’s not yellow, and that’s the color YOU are for not saying it. LOLLOL

    I’m kidding 🙂

    DC 🙂

  91. LOL

    okay, I say

    YELLOW and you say???

  92. Hey Dakota! It’s great to see you here. I just read the excerpt of TAH. It sounds so good and I really want it now! I love the cover too. Dakota, if you could go on vacation with any literary hero who would you choose and where would you go?

  93. I am so excited that this series has progressed this far! I first heard about it from Gena Showalter’s website (she’s always got some great book recommendations up) when Accidental Warewolf came out.

  94. Rachel–I say–you’d better duck. LOLLOL

Linda–Hmmmmm, I dunno. I truly can’t say. There are so many to chose from. Can I have another question, please? LOL

    DC 🙂

  95. Hey, Elisa–thanks! I love me some Gena–she’s an angel 🙂

    DC 🙂

  96. Dakota – I always know that the 13th is going to be a good day! Heck I even have ‘666’ in my license plate #. LOL

  98. I also wanted to briefly give kudos to the people behind Bitten by Books and the authors involved for putting these contests together. It’s always fun to enter to win free stuff (really, who doesn’t like free stuff) but this is a *REALLY SMART* networking tool for authors, readers, reviewers, etc. It helps to keep word of mouth interest moving along in the publishing business and generally makes everyone feel more ‘personable’. Besides, it’s nice to have a chat with a few authors or two that you *absolutely love*!

  99. Added Dakota’s blog to my blogroll, Rachel you are always on my blogroll, and I am a member of BloodBank. I read your rave reviews for the three books and commented. Whet my appetite much?
    Subscribed to Dakota’s newsletter, too.
I like how all of the books seem to be tied together rather loosely, but enticingly so.

  100. Dying is usually a sad subject, yet if your dying and have friends like Mary and Nina, well you really don’t have to die. I would love to see the fight b/w Marty and Nina on who or what Wanda should be. Alive but dead or alive and hairy. What fun. And there is love. You have everything you need for a great book. I can’t wait to read it. How do you do your diablogue? How do you know when it sounds right?

  101. Ruthie–you go, girl! you stare eval down–right in it’s kisser! LOL

    V–thank you!

Elisa–Seriously, does it get any better than the genius that is these women who run this site? Big kudos!

Jo Anne–My dialogue just happens. That’s probably the easiest part for me. Typically, I mimic how myself and my circle of BFF’s chat. or I just make it up. I never lack for snark–so that helps. And I never know when it sounds right. I dont think I’m terribly funny at ALL. However, that’s how I’m billed and what people react to the most. I typically have to ask my test readers if they laughed.

And nothing is ever right or wrong, truly. What you think is right, eleventy billion people will think is wrong, and vice versa. “Right” is a subjective word in writing 🙂 So I just go with what works for me, and hope enough people will like it. There are those who don’t, and I’m okay with it because that’s what makes yon world spin 🙂

As to the dying–I tried to handle it the way I’d do it. I don’t want people to cry if it’s my time–I wanna laugh and smile. Sure there are tears, but I’d want to enjoy every last second. That’s how I wrote Wanda. And hoo, boy–the fight between Marty, Nina and Wanda–has an ugly moment or two. LOL

    Thanks, everyone!

    DC 🙂

  103. That’s right! When I went to the DMV for my plates and stuff – she held it up and said, ‘Did you want a different plate?’ I said, “Hell no!’

  104. Becca–in my best imitation of Marilyn Monroe–picture me, dressed in a slinky red, figure hugging dress, carried by men who’re well oiled and wearing loin cloths. 105. Howdy Dakota!

  106. twittered, shared on FB, shared on mark, dakota and paranormal mondays.

I can’t wait to read this book! 🙂

  107. Poppin–I do get to give input, no doubt. My editor emails me and asks what I see as a vision for it, but the artist usually does a much better job of relaying that to art. Her name is Katie Wood and I ADORE her. She’s just fab, and the whole look of the series tickles my fancy 🙂

And if you send me Prada–it COULD happen. LOLLOL

    Virginia–you da bomb-diggety, baby 🙂

    DC 🙂

  108. BBB _ BTW – I now follow you on Twitter!!!! This is so cool!

    DC 🙂

  112. Dakota who is your FAV Buffy the Vampire Slayer character? You can have more than one. lol

  113. Buffy was my fav, then Angel an Spike. Even though Angel and Spike were evil at one time, it was hard not to like them.

  114. Rachel–don’t hurt me, but I’ve never watched it… EEK–no throwing stuff!

    DC 🙂

  115. Can you feel the PAIN tonight (sung to the tune of can you feel the love tonight). LOL

You ARE kidding right? I knew it! You are a BUFFY VIRGIN. Time to buy season one. Or rent it on netflix. 🙂

  116. Dakota,

Do you read comics at all? There are authors out there who’s books are being translated into comic books. How would you feel about that for your “Accidental” books?

    *air smoochies*

  117. Rachel–I swear on all things Jimmy Choo–never saw it. I didn’t know a whole lot about the world of the paranormal until I began reviewing it, and then writing it in 2004. I am a VIRGIN. LOL

Nece–I think that’d be a hoot! Big hugs.

    DC 🙂

  118. Hi Dakota. I have heard great things about your books, I have had the first one for a while, and now that the League has a discussion of the first one going on (though I can’t seem to find it on the site) I really need to get busy on it. 🙂

That is kind of funny that you have never seen any of Buffy. Treat yourself soon and enjoy!

  119. Wow!!!!
I think that’s the longest list of rules I have ever read for a contest! kekekee

Thanks for a chance at it though! Not everyone opens the contest to readers worldwide!
