I really enjoyed Caleb’s character in the previous novel, Chosen by Blood, and was happy to see that he was one of the main focuses in this second book. You do not get to know too much more about his past, but you really do get to delve into his charming personality and see the real man behind the sexy smile. You get to know that there is more to him than his good looks and flippant attitude, which made me love him all the more.
Wraith, on the other hand, I will admit to not liking a whole lot during the first book. She was angry and aggressive no matter what. You know that she has been through something horrible and traumatic, but even knowing that, she was not very likable. That did change a lot during this second installment, which was refreshing. Even before you find out why she is like she is, you see her begin to crack a little and begin to let Caleb in. Her gradual softening and well-practiced shield of sarcasm, bring her into the realm of likeable characters easier to relate to. I think she and Caleb are absolutely perfect for each other–he tempers her hard edge with his charm while she has his back at all times.
Chosen by Fate is an excellent and engaging follow-up to Chosen by Blood. Picking up not long after the first book ends, you are immediately whisked away onto yet another mission, running alongside the Para-Ops team as they race against the clock. Each installment of this series is better than the last.
