Cat’s Eyes by Crista McHugh

“Cat’s Eyes” was a wild ride where Werewolves were bad – in fact, they smelled like rancid meat and wet dog – and Shifters were at war with them. Andy is one such shifter; he’s a jaguar and a cop during his “normal” days. His partner of four years is Em and she’s hot, a sharp shooter and unfortunately a human. The last human he fell for was sent back in a box. You get the picture.

Em has wanted Andy for so long, but he just won’t take her up on the tons of offers she throws his way. Then one night, a man hits on her who smells like rotten meat; from there, her entire world changes. Em and Andy are adorable together, and I’m glad they finally get their, ahem, night together.

Crista McHugh has created a wonderful, plot filled, characterized novella. There is a build up, a wonderful explosion of sex, blood and animals, followed by a satisfying ending that will have you going, “awwww”. I want more stories so I can see into the Pride’s life. Miguel sounds intriguing, and one of the werewolves said there were only two other female shifters he’s heard of. That makes me wonder if they’re well hidden or raised in ignorance (or non-existent). All around, it was a satisfying story and I’m looking forward to more!
