Blood of Angels by Marie Treanor

Vampire hunter and gadget inventor István is slowly, but steadily, on the mend from a near death encounter six months ago that set the Vampires and Hunters on the road to trying to peacefully co-exist. At loose ends, he goes to vampiress Angyalka’s club, seeking answers about angels to help him with his latest invention. At least that’s what he tells himself and her. Angyalka is thrilled to have the chance to get back at István for his victory in their first encounter.

Together, István and Angyalka work to protect humans and vampires when a sadistic vampire begins brutally murdering humans and an unknown assailant bombs the club, escalating tensions between vampires and hunters and threatening their fragile truce. Curiosity, passion, and loneliness draw István and Angyalka to each other, but is it enough to overcome their vast differences as Vampire and Vampire Hunter?

An intense, observant, logical, driven, bad-ass vampire hunter, István is also a genius and skilled inventor who creates gadgets to help the hunters in their battle against the vampires. Severely injured and barely able to walk from vampire Luk’s attack six months ago, István is slowly healing, but he struggles with the uncertainty of whether he’ll ever be able to hunt full-time again. He is desperate to get his body and his life back under control, and it makes him reckless and unable to resist the allure of Angyalka’s mind and body.

Exotic, beautiful, mysterious, solitary, and haunted by her traumatic past, Angyalka focuses all her energy and undead existence on running the Angel Club and keeping the peace between her vampire and human clientele. Far more powerful than vampires of her age, she is unaware of how truly gifted she is or the depth of her power. She definitely doesn’t feel all that powerful and she keeps her weakness hidden behind a façade of control, calm, and reserve that István effortlessly penetrates.

With deft world-building and character development, Treanor beautifully explores the connection between István and Angyalka. As each battles for control and the upper hand—both physically and mentally with witty banter and a lot of scorching hot, intimate, and, at times sweet, sex—they unconsciously let down barriers and grow closer, discovering unexpected things about themselves and each other. Both are broken, damaged, and lost, each seeking something that the other offers if they can find the courage to accept and embrace their connection as something deeper than just sexual.

Featuring a lovely balance of interesting and well-developed characters, well-written suspense, horror, steamy romance and action, Blood of Angels is an angsty, emotional, captivating, and very satisfying follow up to Blood Guilt and continuation of the Blood Hunters series.

About Lacy

A deep and abiding love for words—written, spoken, or sung—drives Lacy in everything she does—work, creativity, and spare time. I love reading, writing, listening to music, and watching movies and TV. My love affair with books began as a young child and shows no signs of stopping. A number of my earliest and fondest memories are of going to the library and checking out books with my sister and my mom. As children my sister and I spent a lot of time at the library, and as we’ve grown older we’ve amassed so many books that we don’t need to go to the library quite as much but it’s still such a treat to be in that place that stores so much knowledge, adventures, and new experiences. In my spare time you can catch me either at the bookstore, reading, writing, or watching movies at the theater, or watching movies and TV shows at home. Watching movies and TV is a close second for my favorite way to chill out. Although I love to read and can be found reading just about any type of fiction, my first and current love is for romances. So, if you find me reading a book that’s not romance, chances are it has a love story either at its core or somewhere in the novel. I’m fascinated by the relationships and connections forged between people and I think that’s why I love romance so much in books, movies, and TV.
