Blood Bound by Rachel Vincent

Liv Warren has led a lonely existence. She left behind the man she loved in order to protect him, but he was not the type to take no for an answer. He has no idea what lengths Liv has gone to in order to keep him safe. When an old friend needs help and uses the power of a promise that should have never been made to get that help, Liv discovers that her whole world is about to be turned upside down. She will have to work with Cam, her old flame, to get to the bottom of a murder and eventual kidnapping. But will she be able to keep Cam at arm’s length and protect him yet again?

Blood Bound is a completely new and different novel from Rachel Vincent. I have loved her work up until now and this new series is no exception. Blood Bound is a gripping, suspenseful urban fantasy with elements of romance thrown in. I was hooked from page one. Liv is a captivating character and there is so much about her that kept my attention. She is a strong, loyal woman to those she cares about. Cam, on the other hand, made me want to smack him a few times. He is a stubborn, ignorant idiot. But, the romance between Cam and Liv is bittersweet and heartbreaking and I found myself hoping that things might actually be able to work for them.

Blood Bound has quite a few interesting twists and turns and I know I cannot wait for the next book in the series to be released to see how some of them get resolved. If you have enjoyed any of Ms. Vincent’s previous works, you must pick this book up. Never read her? Well, get ready for the read of your year.
