Kindred of the Fallen (Kindred Chronicles)Authors, especially newbies like me, are always looking for ways to reach readers. A book trailer can be an awesome advertising tool if done right and given exposure. However, I had no idea how to get started and no moolah to pay for one.

Then I won the lottery. At least that’s what it felt like when my “fantabulous” friend and author, Brinda Berry, offered to help me create a trailer my paranormal romance, Kindred of the Fallen.

In celebration of the debut of my book trailer, I’m giving away a $20 gift card for Amazon, B&N, or The Book Depository, plus the winner gets to name a character in Book 2 of the Kindred Chronicles.

  1. What an awesome trailer! What’s the song you used and how did you get all the images to use in the trailer? Did you ask people to pose for them or did you trawl iStock to find the right ‘faces’ for your main characters? 🙂

    • Hi Jen!

The song is Bring Me To Life by Thousand Foot Krutch. I had no idea where to begin with images. My friend Brinda created a video storyboard with some of the images we used. Then she sent me to Bigstock (where she had pulled pics) to look for others. I typed in keywords for things I was looking for like “Sexy, fit, handsome man”.

  2. Great trailer!

  3. Hi! Oh wow that Trailer was so cool! are you on Goodreads and facebook?

  4. hi Isis, I like trailers, sometimes it gets me interested esp b/c I dont always pick up a book when running thru stores

  5. Awesome trailer! So what was your favorite scene to write in Kindred of the Fallen?

    • Tough question, since I had a few. Lol! Two of my top favorites are when Cyrus and Serenity discover their latent abilities in a near death situation and when they make love for the first time. The climax was pretty cool to write as well.

  6. Nice trailer – thank you.

  7. Loved the trailer! Are you planning to write a sequel to Kindred of the Fallen?

    • Yippie! Happy to hear you loved it :). Yes, my agent is working out the contract details for book 2 and I am writing book 3 in the series.

I love reading paranormal romance and urban fantasy, but also some Regency and Contemporary romance.
Right now I’m re-reading The End of the Affair by Graham Greene and also reading Archangel’s Consort by Nalini Singh.

  8. What types of books do you enjoy reading? What are you reading now?

  9. I love the way the words and images “splashes” onto the screen. It’s very eye-catching. I like watching video trailers because it’s a nice way to see what a story is all about.

  10. Okay, the trailer is amazing looking and you definitely won the lottery on that one and have an awesome friend for helping you out. congratulations on your debut novel. that is an amazing accomplishment. I am buying this for sure and I will help spread the word to all my bookie friends on Facebook and Twitter and I always leave review on all the books that I read to help spread the word.

  11. What’s your favorite paranormal book ever??

  12. Is there a genre that you would like to write in, but haven’t yet?

  13. It is a very cool trailer. I love those explosions of darkness and color. Very cool!

So when you’re naming your, characters how do you name them? Do the chraracters develop with their names? OR do you searc until you find the right name that fits the character?

    • Great question. I take quite a long time naming my characters just as I would a baby. The name must fit either who the character is today or will become. Serenity’s mother named her in the hope that one day she would bring peace to the clans of Kindred and usher in a new era. Perhaps she will, but you’ll have to read the series to find out :).

  14. What was your favourite book as a child?

  15. Is there anything special that you do to get you in the mood for writing?

How long does it take you to write a book, usually?

  17. What movies and books (other than your own) are you looking forward to being released in 2013?

  18. If you could live in any time period, when would you choose?

  19. Who you favorite Author?

  20. Interesting trailer. I’ll look forward to the series.

  21. What was your favorite childhood book?

  22. Have you ever written fan fiction? For what fandom?

  23. The trailer looks amazing. What authors have influenced you?

  24. The song you used in the trailer made me wonder whether you listen to music while you’re writing, and, if so, does that influence your work or reflect it?

  25. That was an awesome trailer!! Of course it really caught my eye when it read and explosive sex that literally shatters bulletproof glass! “)

  26. If you could invite three folks living, dead, real, imaginary who would they be and why.
