Watchers, this week we will reminisce about beloved shows that have left us, though they may live on in syndication or on DVD.

For me, there will never be another Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That show combined great characters, pitch-perfect humor, and supernatural elements both cool and scary. (more…)

Bitten by Books Screen Bites - True Blood and Haven

Greetings, Watchers. This week we have two goodies for you: True Blood and Haven.

True Blood, 9:00 p.m. EST Sunday, HBO (Carol)

So, I have just come off of a marathon viewing of Seasons One and Two of True Blood over the last couple of weeks. I love the show, and would like to share my thoughts and observations regarding the visual version of Sookie’s world. As you read this, please keep in mind that at the time of this writing I have only seen Seasons One and Two of the show and have only read the corresponding first two books of the series.

With the gate out of commission, the rebel army find themselves forgotten by the rest of the populated world, fighting just to survive. The immediate threat of the Warlords has been subdued. They must now focus on fighting and decimating the demons who are their biggest threat. The final influx of refugees has at least one surprise–a very capable warrior with obvious weapons skills who catches Captain Laisyn Caar’s attention.

When the novel begins, the Dropper William has gone rogue, citing religious reasons, seeking to destroy Lighthouse and prevent timeline manipulation. Pan’s Legacy by Viola Grace

I have an addiction to the current trend of modifying classics and fairy tales to the modern age, and Pan’s Legacy is an excellent example of this trend.

Pandora is the granddaughter of Peter Pan – yes, pixie dust and lost boys Peter Pan. But the story she was told was much different from the classic tale. I have to admit that I am really impressed with this character. She is strong and passionate and not afraid to go for what she knows is right. (more…)

Kathryn, Jason, and Ryan Kelly live near San Fernando Valley when Jason finds a previously-undiscovered Anasazi village outside Crater National Park in Arizona. Jason rocks Kathryn’s world like an earthquake with a sudden proclamation that the family will move to Arizona, immediately, for this new “find”.
