Author Kendra Leigh Castle Interview and Contest LIVE Here!

Posted under Chat, Contests, Discussions, Interviews, Site News by Site Hostess on Thursday 9 September 2010 at 11:48 am

BBB: Can you please share with us how old you were when you wrote your first story?

KLC: I think the first actual story was around the age of ten. It was about vampires. At a waterpark. And it was a romance. Don’t ask. Prior to that I was known for my towering works of mediocre holiday poetry, such as the classic, “Pumpkin Day.” Feel the awesome.

“What is the use of a book,” thought Alice, “without pictures or conversations?” – Lewis Carroll

My books don’t have pictures. (Well, okay, the Russian editions do.)

But I have some of the best covers around, designed by talented Rita Frangie at Berkley and with artwork by the amazing Tony Mauro. (more…)

BBB: Can you please share with us how old you were when you wrote your first story?

CC: I was twelve years old. It was a romance novel called The Beautiful Cassandra. It was — how do I put this — not my best work. It topped out at about 1,000 pages after I worked on it for two years but none of it ever made any sense.

BBB: Can you please share with us how old you were when you wrote your first story?

JS: I’m not sure how old I was when I wrote my first story. My mom passed away a few years ago and my sis and I were going through her stuff and found a page of story I’d written on yellow foolscap tucked into an old address book—from elementary school. So it’s safe to say, I’ve been at it awhile!

BBB: Can you please share with us how old you were when you wrote your first story?

JC: Unlike a lot of writers, I didn’t start out at the tender age of five. Yeah, sure, I scribbled a few little stories when I was a kid but, frankly, I never considered that real writing. What I do remember doing daily most of my entire life is telling stories in my head. I didn’t try to set them down on paper until I was in my mid-twenties and I only did it then because it was a way to get the stories out of my head. For all the good it did me. The problem is that as soon as one story is down on paper, another one starts taking shape in my head.

BBB: Can you please share with us how old you were when you wrote your first story?

DNW: The first story that I remember was titled “The Thing at the Top of the Stairs,” a very Edgar Allen Poe inspired thing. I was in my senior year of high school, so, 17. That story stuck with me so well, and so long, that I rewrote it from memory years later to be included in 365 Scary Stories – a book you can still pick up at Barnes & Noble. I have seven stories in it.
