Silvana McCurdy has had enough. She has been having humiliating dreams of every eroticism imaginable orchestrated on her body by her chocolate-colored dream lover, but even as he and his friends bring her to ecstasy, there is no true intimacy or substance to the dreams. She wakes desperate for sex but has no way to truly sate the urges the dreams inspire, for Silvana is six hundred and forty-three years old and has never been able to take a human lover. She is instead forced to rely on the rare male dragon for relief. Other dragons have no problem with their human lovers, but Silvana is an utter failure at keeping her human disguise in that most intimate situation.
Rafael Tavarez is good at pissing women off. At least, that was what his six sisters, his mother, and his ex-wife had informed him. He doesn’t, however, know what the heck he did to piss off this woman. His night had been horrible, the latest of many recent bad nights. He keeps waking, after seeming to blackout, with a raging hard on and a myriad of small wounds that make him feel distinctly used. It isn’t until he looks her in the eye and touches her that he realizes that the woman raging at him is the key to his restless nights. Determined to catch her and get some answers after she flees, he follows her until she seems to disappear into thin air.
Silvana may be otherworldly, but she deals with a lot of typical problems: low self-esteem, failure at typical dragon traits (hoarding money, etc.), and a mother determined to set her up with the dragon of her dreams. She is feisty, yet vulnerable and makes you want her to succeed. I would have liked to have seen more of a build up on Rafael’s part; the way he arrived at her place seemed a bit too pat. The dragon aspect of this story was intriguing and well written, though I felt the suspense with the dreams came across a bit anticlimactic even for the erotic solution. Lacey Savage’s addition to the Madam Periwinkle’s series is fun and quick with believable character traits and interesting erotic elements that include a ménage a trios and M/M.
