“Human nature had two very different sides, she mused, and the darker side would always try to tear down that which others had built with their very blood.”

Vampires control the world and everyone in it, except for Peter Harris and his rebel fighters. Two months have passed, and his small group of rebels has grown into over one thousand members.

The vampires have split into cabals, each with their own territory, and tensions are rising between them. (more…)

Amanda Spoils went to Alaska to take a break from the Pride before she had to make the ultimate decision: who she would mate. She thought she would have plenty of alone time to shift and enjoy the wilderness. She could not have been more wrong.

Kam had similar thoughts when he went to Alaska. But he never thought that he would actually find someone in Alaska where the male population outnumbers the female 10 to one. When he smells a female in a friend’s rental cabin, his luck may have changed. (more…)

The Chosen Sin by Anya Bast

****½

The Chosen Sin starts out of the gate with a bang and just doesn’t stop, even up to the last page! The storyline is set in a very interesting futuristic world where vampires are out of the coffin closet. They have basically carved out a bit of vampy paradise on another planet because people in the future don’t really like them any more than they do today. The world Ms. Bast has created for the vampire utopia is very interesting and detailed. If I were a vampire, it would be just the place I would want to live.

At first I was a bit put off by the amount of sex in the book. But then I realized that it was an integral part of the storyline and it’s characters, and not in a bad way. The sex had a purpose, and wasn’t just used as filler (no pun intended) as so many authors out on the market today tend to use it. Now, don’t get me wrong there was plenty of hot action, but I didn’t find myself drifting off throughout those scenes. (yes, it has happened to me before)

The protagonist is an anger filled Special Forces agent for the Allied Bureau of Investigation (ABI for short). Daria is out for the ultimate revenge, one so near and dear to her heart she is willing, and does make the ultimate sacrifice. Yep, we are talking about death….and rebirth into the very creature she loathes. That is some pretty deeply seeded anger. That anger fuels this storyline like a rocket and had me gripping my seat at times wondering what would happen next.

Man, I even got mad when somebody interrupted me at really crucial moment in the book to ask me a question. LOL Talk about getting into a book! It is more than that though. It is Ms. Bast’s ability to portray emtions through the written word to such an extreme that it impacted me on an emotional level while reading. That is a pretty rare thing for me. Not that I don’t have emotions, but I do read a ton of material. Lots of lovely authors with great sories, yet few really grip me on a deep level. So, way to go Anya, you got me! :)

Of course what story would be complete without a resident hero and a perpetual thorn in Daria’s side? Alejandro (Gods, I love that name) is your typical love them and leave them drool worthy vampire. That is until Daria pops back into his life for the mission of a lifetime. He wants revenge too, but how far will he go to help Daria? Will he risk the mission and face certain second death? Better yet, will she?

The Chosen Sin had some really interesting twists that I didn’t see coming, and the storyline was extremely well laid out. Written as a stand alone title, this is a must read for this fall. Do not wait, get thee to your book store or click the link below to order yourself a copy right away.

If you dig a little futuristic with your vampires, secret spy action, with a dash of political intrigue and of course some mind numbing sexual encounters, then The Chosen Sin is the book for you!
