Kitrina (Kit) Eisley is a 23 year-old accountant working in a small town. She is known as the crazy girl that thinks ghosts took her boyfriend ten years ago. She has never dated and keeps to herself.

Dane Grissinger disappeared at the age of 13. A body had never been found, and the only witness had been his girlfriend, Kit.

Ten years ago on Halloween night, Dane and Kit went to the house called Coulbourne Castle. Dane wanted to perform a séance and speak to ghosts. The story went that Silas Coulbourne had murdered his wife and son. Sitting in front of the graves of the Coulbourne family, Dane chanted the spell he memorized. He was grabbed from behind and disappeared right before Kit’s eyes. No one had believed her about that night. Ten years later, she still thinks of Dane every day and wishes that she could have helped him more. A few days before Halloween, Dane appears and tried to communicate with her. Will she be able to help him? Can she say good bye again and survive?

I have to admit that the first chapter freaked me out a bit. That says a lot for me, too. I really enjoyed the story, and Desirée Lee keeps you guessing the entire time. Just when you think you know what direction she is going next, she blindsides you and send you in another. So many twists and turns made me enjoy every minute of it.

Seneca Mclane has a new job at a lab. She cannot help but be attracted to her boss. Is he married? Does he have a girlfriend? She wants the answers to those question but also so much more.

Amukan Troika had been the alpha male of the centruroids of Reno until he was murdered along with his wife six months ago. Now their son, Deylen is the current alpha and is trying hard to fill his father’s shoes. He needs to get his peoples loyalty and also find a mate.

A rival clan known as the Loxosceles which is led by Koda Webb will be Deylens first order of business. Since Deylen is new to being an alpha, Koda thinks he can push him out of Reno. Since he cannot scare him out of town, he does the next best thing. He uses something as bait.

This was my first bug shifter book and I was a little scared. I was not sure what to expect and how could I find them sexy? Well I should have just shut my mind off and read because Desirée Lee can make a bug sexy. Hubba hubba. Deylen has that science nerd thing going on but Seneca can see right through it. Her way of dealing with being attracted to her new boss and having a new job is to question everything. I loved the banter between these two and thought they were very human, well except for Deylen. You know what I mean. If I was not a fan of Desirée before, I am now.

Brothers At Arms - The Chariot Card by Desirée Lee

Talk about your family drama! This book gives a whole new meaning to sibling rivalry. Francois and Pierre Arcee are brothers who have been at war with each other for 250 years. Both are leaders of their own House of vampires. They are equal in strength and neither brother will back down. Every 50 years they must move the war to a new city to keep the mortal world from knowing they exist. A new Keeper has been chosen and the next 50 years have begun.

Francois sends a vampire named Michelle Bryson to take over for a fallen Seeker and locate the new Keeper of a special tarot card. It is her first time as a Seeker and so she must prove herself. Knowing that the other Seeker from Pierre’s House is also searching, she must hurry to find the Keeper first and protect them.

Since it has been another 50 years a new Keeper is chosen. Julio Mendoza had no idea that vampires existed much less were warring with each other. Now that he is the Keeper, he must be found and protected. The Keeper is the one human that each side must find first in order to gain the next city and advantage over the other.

This is the first book by Desirée Lee that I have tried so I went in without knowing what to expect. I really enjoyed this book because you get to watch the chemistry grow between Michelle and Julio. First they dislike each other and slowly soften towards one another. Throughout the book you kept trying to figure out which brother to believe. Who was telling the truth and who was just trying to get possession of the Keeper? She had me guessing up to the end. The secondary characters were well written and made me giggle a number of times with the humor. Giggles are always a great sign. Desiree does not make it easy to predict the next scene. You think you know what is going to happen next and she surprises you again.
