Vesta Jones is 28 and single. She has been feeling a little odd and tired lately, and has even been craving red meat - raw red meat.

Torrence (Tor) Simiene is an alpha werewolf. He has been looking for his Lupa to match his Alpha. He knows that she is out there somewhere but just hasn’t found her yet.

Vesta has just seen her doctor because she thinks she is losing her mind. All her tests come back perfect. Her doctor offers to do one more test for her, but when those results come in positive for a certain gene, the doctor calls Tor not Vesta. Not only is Tor the Alpha of his pack but he is also a sort of counselor for the new female werewolves, who don’t go into their first shift until the age of 28. Most don’t survive, so it is his duty to make sure they are safe during their first change. He has been notified that Vesta is on the verge of her first change so he approaches her. What he finds is his match, but how do you explain that you get furry once a month?

“Bestial Cravings” is actually a short story that can follow the book Curse of the Marhime, but can also be read alone. I felt bad for Vesta because she is thrown into this new life without knowing what to expect or how to know if it real or not. She really likes Tor but thinks he is a nut job. Tor is an Alpha but he doesn’t throw it in your face like some other heroes. He is still kind but he will still take charge of the situation, he just does it a bit sneakier than most.

Tia had no idea that the love of her life, Andres, is vampire, cursed by a witch to forever walk in darkness as one of the undead. He offers Tia a choice: she can walk away and never see him again or embrace immortality and be with her one true love forever.

“Eternal Obsession” by Dayana Knight is wonderfully written short story. It’s very sweet, and the characters will draw you in. There is never a dry moment. I give this 5 out of 5 tombstones.

Curse of the Marhime by Dayana Knight

Pita Sedgwick lives in the northern Rockies of Montana on 8 acres of land. Growing up she has always felt comfortable near or in the forest. After a chance meeting with an older woman who is a seer in a grocery store, she finds out that her adoptive parents had kept a great deal from her.

Sasha, Pita’s best friend since they were children talks her into searching her past through old pictures that Pita found in her parents belongings. Between Sasha and her parents, they figure it is Romania by the background and people in the photos. Sasha talks Pita into a trip to Romania so she may locate her birth parents.

Nikolae Ionesciu is sitting next to Pita on the plane. He says hello with a boyish lopsided grin, she is speechless and struck stupid. When they shake hands it feels like electricity runs between them. He is very attracted to her and talks her into letting him show her around Munich during a layover. After a few hours they say their goodbyes and each board a different plane.

Pita Sedgwick meets an old woman in a grocery store who tells her that she must speak with her. The older woman tells her to be careful of whom she trusts. After meeting with her Pita’s past seems to be one big lie. She flies to Romania to find out about her birth parents. The more she digs for information the more questions come up. Soon she is threatened but she does not know who to trust to help her because everyone seems to lie to her.

This was an awesome book. I hate to use that word but it is the only one I can think of to describe it. The story line was well thought out and ran smoothly through the entire book. During the book you are trying to figure out who is lying to her just like she is. I have to admit that I was wrong on a few of them. Niko or Nikolae had the right amount of heart and strength to become one of those memorable heroes. I cannot wait for book two!
