The 13th Step by Moira Rogers

*****

When he first sees her under the flashing lights, Blake isn’t sure she is real. Imagination or ghost, Ella has haunted him since their parting, and he has just started to get past the addiction that is her. Unable to deny his primal instincts, he follows her across the dance floor, but will this meeting cripple the independence he has gained from the drug that is her?

Holy freaking cow! Leave it to Moira Rogers to entrance you for a far too short twenty-three pages of sexual intensity and leave you grasping for more. The combination of barely there back story that has the feel of true depth, the hint of a future that might never come, and the sheer eroticism of the story, would be quite something on its own. Add in addiction, submission and dominance issues, plus the core of the story that I refuse to give away (Hah! As if. Go read it for yourselves), and you have something truly remarkable. A short story that is so well written it is utterly complete despite its length.

So if you’re a fan of eroticism with paranormal elements, go read this story. You can thank me later - seriously.

I’m so glad you liked it, Sarai! I’m always a little nervous because it’s certainly not a traditional romance–I’m always telling people it’s our Lovers-to-Friends story. ;) Now I just have to hope it doesn’t backfire since we’re writing a story about Ella now!
