Welcome to the poll of the week!! Since the polls were such a big hit last month for our Birthday Bash, we are going to do it weekly. Each week we will have a new poll for you to vote in. There will be primaries over the weekends for the most part. Though if time is pressing for me or there is some other nefarious reason, I reserve the right to pick the topic for the week. Since I was gone last weekend, I am going to take the number two category from the previous paranormal primaries of Sidekicks for this week’s poll and contest.
This is our official POLL post. Polling runs through Friday 6/5/09 at 11:59 pm PDT. You can come here to tell us why you love your sidekick and who you think should win. Comment as MUCH as you like. This week’s contest entrant will win some of the amazing author swag we have been giving out all month. AND if the votes go past 1500 we will add the coveted Vamp Girl Tote Bag customized with your name on it! The poll is on the right hand side of the site. Invite ALL of your friends, fan groups to join in. Remember to come back on Saturday to vote in the Paranormal Primaries for next weeks poll/contest.
We will be choosing a winner from the commenters to this thread at random on Saturday 6/6/09. Come by and chat with other readers this week, be sure to get your friends over here to vote too. Yikes. Another tough one. I almost tossed a coin (or four) for this one, but I ended up going with Bob. Even when I want to throttle Harry (which is often) and put the book down, Bob says something that keeps me reading. He provides the perfect mix of comic relief and truth, the ultimate jester who tells me the Emperor is naked, which is what a side kick is for.

I had a hard time deciding between Jenks and Jason, but ended up voting for Jason. I am a big LKH fan, and the character of Jason has transformed and matured in a big way over the course of the series. I really like that the one thing has never changed, is his loyalty and friendship with Anita. He will stand by her side no matter what big bad is lurking, and that makes him the best kind of side kick.

OOH this was a toughie. First reaction was to vote for Jace because he and Ethan are to die for. But then I thought about it and I don’t consider Jace, nor Ethan sidekicks. So I really can’t seem to vote for them as my favorite sidekick when I don’t seem them that way. They’re just other characters in the book that interact (in hilarious ways) with Faythe.
So while I wanted to vote for Jace, but couldn’t because I don’t see him as a sidekick, I went with Jenks from Kim Harrison’s the Hallows series. Jenks is more of a sidekick/partner and he is hilarious. Especially with all his quips about Tinkerbell, even though I love Tink, too!

I had a hard time choosing, so many great sidekicks. But I had to go with Jim for my favorite. I just love him.

I would most definitely have to say, though it is a BIG toss up for me between Simi and Jenks, have to say Simi. She is a very volatile character who also likes her creature comforts like eating her enemies with copious amounts of BBQ sauce. Her love for things that sparkle and jewels do not (but come close) to rivaling that of her instant defense of those she is commanded to help. Her personal feelings are set aside and she does what needs to be done, in defense or offense. Even if she does give too much info on the side, which is yet another character sidekick aspect that makes her so well-loved! In all the stories she starts in, Simi shows her own personality (like meeting her family, then arguing about sharing space with them, that was funny!), so she is not only a sidekick but an integral part of how the whole story develops. Certain things she says or does in one book, affects the outcome of the next upcoming books, not just the one that is being read at that moment.
