Shifting Perspectives 2 by Sharon Maria Bidwell, Fiona Glass and Emily Veinglory

Shifting Perspectives is an anthology of stories about shapeshifters - that much I expected when I asked to read it for review. I did not expect the most interesting and unique stories that I found within the 83 pages of this book. Hold on to your hats, kids, we are about to leave the “normal” shape shifting cat and wolf world and head into the worlds of fish shifters, pigeon shifters and even the Swan Prince and his rat shifter/rat demon boyfriend/guardian.
“The One That Got Away” by Sharon Maria Bidwell. This story is about a man who goes home after the death of his father to find that not only has his father made a new friend but that friend has also been eagerly awaiting the son’s arrival. A fish tale that is very much an original, this story was a truly refreshing look at those old fish stories you heard growing up as a kid. Of course, it also makes me wonder if that big old catfish in my mom’s pond may be more than meets the eye… Hmm, I might have to do some fishing this summer.
“Steal the Sky” by Fiona Glass. Okay, so I have heard of crow shifters and eagle shifters. But to say the least, I was a bit surprised by a pigeon shifter especially one whose boyfriend has, in the past, hidden his feathers from him, and races other pigeons. The 23 pages of this story are packed with more details than you would think possible, and yet the story remains light and not overpowered by the details.
“The Swan Prince” by Emily Veinglory. This 24 page short takes the old legend of the Swan Prince and gives it a new and modern twist. The prince is ignoring his “destiny”. The Yokai (rat demon) who is his guardian and his boyfriend is wondering when the young prince will take his proper place. Toss in an evil father bent on power and some shady dealings that are mentioned from the past and you have a fast paced, action packed story that leaves you looking for more.
This anthology was truly unique. With concepts for shapeshifters that I had not really thought about and great story lines, it made this a really good read.

This sounds like an amazing book! I can’t wait until i have an e-book reader so I can read it!
Interesting, very interesting. Might need to add this to my TBR pile
Many thanks for the review! Don’t ask me where that story came from. I probably daydreamed a lot whenever my father took me fishing but I was rather too young to have dreamt up this story back then. LOL. Glad you enjoyed the read! Sharon
