Call of the Highland Moon by Kendra Leigh Castle
Gideon MacInnes is next in line as alpha and clan leader but he’s not sure he is ready or willing to fill his father’s shoes. He leaves his home in the Scottish Highlands and travels to the U.S. to figure out exactly what he wants and to find that something that seems to be missing from his life. As the saying goes “Absence makes the heart grow fonder” and after two months of traveling and soul-searching, he realizes that he is finally ready to return home and take on his new responsibilities.
On his last night in a small town in Northern New York, he decides to take one last run through the forest in his wolf form. He never expects to be attacked by rogue wolves and drags himself, wounded and bleeding, to the doorstep of a local bookshop. The owner, Carly Silver, mistakes him for a large dog and takes him home to tend to his wounds. Imagine her surprise when she wakes up in bed with a very naked Scottish hottie. Carly may own a book store called Bodice Rippers and Baubles but the only bodice-ripping going on her life is what she reads about. There is something about Gideon though that wakes up parts of her that she had not realized were asleep. Irresistibly drawn to each other, Gideon fights their growing attraction. Carly is, after all a human and he is terrified that, like his mother, she would never survive a werewolf bite. As long as he is with her, he knows that she is in danger, not only from him but from the rogue wolves that attacked him. But the evil that they face is a much greater threat than Gideon could ever imagine and only by facing it together do they have any chance of surviving.
Call of the Highland Moon is a fabulous story and kept me breathlessly turning the pages to find out what would happen. Kendra Leigh Castle has created a hero and heroine that I look forward to reading more about. Her descriptions are so vivid that I could see the places she described easily in my mind. Her characters are so real that they seem to jump off the pages of the story, larger than life. This book will leave you howling for more.
Book Excerpt: “Trapped together through the raging storm, Gideon discovers that he’s found his mate and Carly has to choose between becoming a werewolf, charged with protecting humankind from the inhabitants of an evil otherworld, or giving up the one man she’s ever truly loved…”

Wow, this book sounds fantastic! Of course it had me at Scots werewolf in New York (gotta love the accent), but it definitely sealed the deal with Bodice Rippers and Baubles ;P This is such a great review Lori, Call of the Highland Moon is definitely going on my wishlist

I am so excited about this book! I love MIK (Scotland) and I love paranormals, so you can imagine how excited it is to have these both together in one! And a trilogy (so far, I can hope for more) so there’s more to look forward to in this ‘world’ the author created. Is the book set in a historical setting? I didn’t think so with the heroine having a bookstore (love the name of it) Thanks for the summary and all!
