Author Jill Myles Character Interview and Contest

Posted under Chat, Contests, Interviews, Site News by Site Hostess on Wednesday 28 July 2010 at 12:01 pm

PLEASE NOTE: The contest portion of Jill Myles’ event is now over. The winners will be chosen at a later date and emailed.

Setting: A small room with two stools. White notecards are left on each stool, and the room is filled with soft ambient light. There are microphones perched in front of each.

Two women walk in – there’s a busty redhead dressed in a conservative white sweater with a blue collar, and jeans. The other woman has long, flowing black hair, darkly olive skin, and is wearing a hot pink shirt that says “I’M WITH STUPID”.

Each one sits down on a stool and picks up the notecards. The redhead begins to flip through them.

Jackie: So remind me why we’re doing this, Remy?

Remy: *fixes her hair and fluffs her boobs* Because it’ll be fun? Interviews are fun.

Jackie: Not my idea of fun.

Remy: Oh pooh. Your idea of fun is lame. You’d probably rather go to the museum. That’s lame.

Jackie: What’s wrong with the museum?

Remy: Like I said, LAME!

Jackie flips through the cards and pulls one out.

Jackie: So we’re supposed to quiz each other? The first one I have here is “How many men have you slept with.” Jeez. That’s kind of personal.

Remy: I know, right? Anyhow, the answer is four.

Jackie’s eyebrows go up. “Remy, you’ve slept with four different guys in the past week.”

Remy leans over the stool towards Jackie, whispering.

Remy: “They’re not checking our answers, dummy. And if you say more than four, everyone thinks you’re a slut.”

She leans in close to the microphone and repeats the answer.

Remy: “Four.”

Jackie rolls her eyes and flips to the next card.

Jackie: “This should be an easy one. How old are you?”

Remy: Twenty five.

Jackie: Remy…you were born in the Ottoman Empire. You were a harem girl to Suleiman the Magnificent. That makes you over four hundred years old. How can you sit here and say you are only twenty five?

Remy: *smiles coyly* A true lady never reveals her age.

Jackie: Sigh.

Remy: This interview is boring. You want to spice it up? We could take our tops off.

Jackie: No, I don’t want to spice this up! I thought we were coming here for a serious interview, but you’re not answering the questions.

Remy: Fine, fine. Want me to lob a few questions at you? *picks up notecards and clears her throat* What is your favorite part of being a succubus?

Jackie: Groan. I have to have a favorite part?

Remy: The supernaturally perky boobs? The great hair? The ability to never age a day? The ease at which you can now manipulate men? The libido that just won’t quit?

Jackie: I like how we’re supposed to make this sound all glamorous. Should we also mention the part where the vampire queen wants to kill me if I won’t be her slave? Or the fact that everyone seems to have this amazing super strength except us? Or that we’ll die if we don’t have enough sex? Or the fact that the vampire and fallen angel that created us can control us like they’re our masters? And we have no choice but to obey?

Remy: Details. No one cares about all that depressing crap. I say you go with ‘supernaturally perky boobs’ for your answer.

Jackie: Fine, whatever. What’s the next question?

Remy: You sure you don’t want me to take my top off?

Jackie: I’m sure.

Remy: Okay, here’s the question. Team Noah or Team Zane?

Jackie: Oh good lord.

Remy: I know. Scandalous!

Jackie: I think…I’d like for you to take your top off.

Remy: I thought you’d see it my way.

Questions for the readers:

1) Let’s say you were turned into a succubus - would you embrace it and live life to the fullest (like Remy) or would you fight against your nature (like Jackie)?

2) A succubus must take commands from her master. She must obey without question, just like a minion. If you had such powers to abuse, what would you command someone to do for you? Rob a bank? Eat a mudpie? Dress up in a bunny suit?

I think I’d be like Jackie - I wouldn’t want to be a succubus. If I could make anyone I wanted do something I’d make my high school gym teacher run laps around the track in the middle of the winter since she used to do it to us.

If you could make anyone do anything what would it be?

What a fun interview! I have not read your books. They sound delightful. Do your books have the humor that your interview had in them too?
I would embrace it and live life to the fullest (like Remy). I wouldn’t want to be bored.
This would be fun. I would make people do or say silly things just for the fun of it. See how much trouble I could get into. LOL.

    1) Let’s say you were turned into a succubus - would you embrace it and live life to the fullest (like Remy) or would you fight against your nature (like Jackie)?

I would fight against my nature unless I already have a man who loves me and he is going to be there to…sate my lust. :)
    2) A succubus must take commands from her master. She must obey without question, just like a minion. If you had such powers to abuse, what would you command someone to do for you? Rob a bank? Eat a mudpie? Dress up in a bunny suit?

I would never want to be put in the slave position, so I would try to find a way to free my minion. If I can’t I would give him/her as much freedom as possible.

Remy, do you know how your character was formed?

Well aren’t you just the sweetest thing. I’ve never had a master that let me just do whatever I liked. Men are such control freaks. But that’s another story for another time!

You wanted to hear about how I was made? Long story short - I was a harem girl. A really bad one. The sultan’s favorite kadin had it in for me, and I was tied into a silk bag and tossed into the river to drown. Three guesses as to who saved me. That’s right, a fallen angel and a vampire. The rest, they say, is history.

I’m told the story will come out someday. Just not sure when!

The best thing about Noah and Zane? Wow, that’s a tough one. My answer’s a little sappy. I love that Noah is my strong protector…even though he sometimes carries that to extremes. And with Zane, I like that he lets me take the lead in the relationship and would never tell me what to do.

I always start with the scene that captures my imagination the most. For GENTLEMEN PREFER SUCCUBI, I was really intrigued about a woman that had woke up in a dumpster and had no idea of what happened the night before. So that’s why that particular book starts from that point on - like Jackie, I had to find out what happened. :)

    Hi Remy! Hi Jackie!

Jackie I am with you, I’d rather be at a museum too. Which one do you want to go visit? I’ll be your tag-along buddy (my sister is at this moment interjecting that she thinks I’m being too stogy and should take Remy’s side, but honestly I would prefer a museum to being in the spotlight…no offense Remy…)

    Your Questions:

    1) Let’s say you were turned into a succubus - would you embrace it and live life to the fullest (like Remy) or would you fight against your nature (like Jackie)?
–I’m with Jackie. The notion of being a succubus doesn’t appeal to me and I’ve never been one to just accept what comes naturally to me.

    2) A succubus must take commands from her master. She must obey without question, just like a minion. If you had such powers to abuse, what would you command someone to do for you? Rob a bank? Eat a mudpie? Dress up in a bunny suit?
–It sounds like you want to give me the power to finally take over the world. I mean, I always joke about such things (don’t all teen girls dream of being megalomaniacs, cackling above the fallen bodies of their foes. That’s unusual? Oh. well that shrink did say it was a tad unrealistic…) but to actually have the power? Awesome. Simply awesome. First would be to gather those actors I like a lot and have them stage my favorite plays. Then have a concert. And then help me lay waste to the free world. Simply things every girl wants.

    My Question:
    – If you weren’t a Succubus what would you want to be (supernatural or ordinary)?
    – What sort of regrets do you have?

And that time I made a deal with a demon. And that time I listened to Remy. And that time I…well, you get the picture. I’m a woman that makes bad choices.

Who I’d like to be if I could be anyone? I think I’d like to be the old me that didn’t want to have sex every time someone brushes up against me in an elevator!

Thanks for the insightful interview ladies.

    1) I think I would meet Remy and Jackie half-way. I would embrace myself but try to control my natural tendencies so they didn’t rule me.

    2) That’s is so easy I would make my personal Minion — buy all new releases when they immediately came out and then read them and give me a review so that I could accurately place them in my the TBR pile in the proper place. I would also make them take my dog out for his earlier morning duties and walk.

    Question to the author:

What kind of perfume does Remy and Jackie like? Are they flower kind of girls or musk scent?

    Hi Marnie!

Remy is definitely a musk kind of girl. Something dark and rich, maybe with some notes of amber.

Jackie is a much cleaner scent. If it’s floral, very light floral. Overall I just think ‘clean and wholesome’ like fresh linen and detergent. But that’s not very sexy, is it? :)

I think that I would fall somewhere in the middle. I would be exhausted at the end of the day, if I was always fighting against my nature. But, a succubus is not the supernatural being that I would choose, if I could, so I don’t think that I would revel in it either. Do what I have to do to survive, and try to have fun where I can.

Question for Remy: Do you ever regret, or wish you could change, anything that you’ve done in the name of being a succubus?

Question for Jackie: If you could choose ANYONE who ever existed to be your master, who would make you happy controlling your “strings”, so to speak? +30

Well, okay. I do have one thing that’s not necessarily a regret, but something I’d like to change. In exchange for 100 years of freedom, I have to promise my masters 100 years of servitude. That’s something I could definitely do without.

If I had to choose, I’d still pick Zane and Noah. They both look out for me, they’re good in bed, and it could be sooooo much worse. So if I have to have two masters, I’m glad its them.

My list of who I’m glad I DON’T have as a master is much, much longer. Like Uriel, Luc, this shady character named Ariel that you’ll meet in the next book…

Lol, fun post, I miss jackie and Remy. I read the first book and it was so funny

The whole sex, sex, sex, hm, well only with my one and only. But I would pretty much fight it like Jackie. Of course would love all the perks, like the boobs lol

What would I do, well ok make them rob a bank so I could buy books.

Ok girls, which one of you would win in a fight?

I would make them do some funny stuff just for laughs, but also if need be I would command them to do some good or bad things depending on what is needed.

I’d love to hang out with Remy, she’s so much fun. So that would mean I’d have to be more like Jackie if I were a Succubus, that way I could befriend Remy Summore ( love that name)

Now, if I had the power of a succubi master, I could ensure my sexy slave, erm I mean incubus, did as told in the bedroom. I know that’s where Remi would start. But since I’m more a Jackie kinda gal, I would probably use them to land me a fab job.

Remy, will you be having a hot romance in book three? Would love to see u go googoo eyed over just one(or two if yr like Jackie) smoking hot man….like Zane. Yummmmm

Jackie, don’t things get a little too complicated with two men? Or will a third be added in the next adventure?

Wheeeeee book three. I can’t wait. I just loved the first two–spook funny, full of hotness and lots of unpredictable peril and twists and turns. Thanks for the Reading fun, Jill!!!!!

Well…supernaturally perky boobs great hair and never aging are pretty freakin awesome perks. But I’m going to have to be honest and I’d probably fight it like Jackie. Plus Idon’t see anything wrong with the museum. I think museums are cool.(Said the dork)

If I had that power would I make someone rob a bank or eat a mudpie probably not. I say probably because well you never know. Put someone in a bunny suit. NEVER. Ever. That’s like my top five nightmares. Seriously. And yes I know I’m weird.

Anyway, as long as the people under my control weren’t killing or maiming,(there should probably be more criteria) I’d give all the freedom possible, because that’s what I would want.

Jackie, what’s one thing you admire about Remy?

I’m kidding, I’m kidding (tell Jackie to quit hitting me). I like that Jackie has a real sense of loyalty to her masters. Even if they don’t realize it, she genuinely cares for both of them and their happiness. My relationship with each of my masters sucks ass, so I’m a bit envious of the three of them, problems aside.

Hi Jill! These books sound like great fun to read, I will def be checking them out. so, to answer your questions, I’m finding it hard to make up my mind. Usually I’m a live life to it’s fullest gal, but sometimes my inner Jackie comes thru. Concerning becoming a succubus, I’d probably be like Remy, but I have to admit sex all the time sounds like it could become…tiresome. And what wouldn’t I command done? All that power might corrupt the nice me and then I’d have my minion robbing banks, stealing nice cars, going on grab and run shopping sprees, read me a book a day, I don’t know. I’d like to think I’d have them do good deeds, but I will not know till it happens to me. So my questions for you…Remy, is there anyone famous in our past history that you’ve “known”? How about anyone you wish you’d known? And Jackie, Do you find it difficult to juggle 2 men? Is there a schedule worked out for who gets what nights? Do they fight about it? Thanks guys, I will def be checking these out!! :)

Well, Noah is only awake during the daytime and Zane is only awake at night, so most of the time the schedule works out pretty well (there’s a bit of overlap, just enough to make me tear my hair out). And they both totally sulk if one gets more attention than the other.

Hi, thanks for the post, I would also have a few questions:

    - If you could meet any character of any novel, who would you like to meet?
    - If a malicious genie forced you to read only 3 books for the rest of your life, which 3 books would you choose?
    - How do you name your characters? After people you know or do you do reserach, or how?
    - Who is your favourite character in your novels, and why?

    1) Let’s say you were turned into a succubus - would you embrace it and live life to the fullest (like Remy) or would you fight against your nature (like Jackie)? I guess it wouldn’t be easy for me to accept it, it would take me some time to adjust to it. A loot of time..

    2) A succubus must take commands from her master. She must obey without question, just like a minion. If you had such powers to abuse, what would you command someone to do for you? Rob a bank? Eat a mudpie? Dress up in a bunny suit? Oh, I would hate to have such control over anyone. I guess I would order them to be good: to behave honourably, help those in need and give a helping hand to anyone tehy encounter who might need it. SOrry I sound kind of boring :-)

    Hi Stella!

    - If you could meet any character of any novel, who would you like to meet?

I’d love to meet Ayla from Clan of the Cave Bear. That crazy woman could do anything and everybody loved her. I need to learn her secrets. ;)

    - If a malicious genie forced you to read only 3 books for the rest of your life, which 3 books would you choose?

Oh crap! That IS malicious. Today I’d go with A HUNGER LIKE NO OTHER by Kresley Cole, DEMON BOUND by Meljean Brook, and THE SECRET by Julie Garwood.

    - How do you name your characters? After people you know or do you do reserach, or how?

Some research, some instinct. Mostly instinct. :)

    - Who is your favourite character in your novels, and why?

I really really love Remy. And a character in my third book that you haven’t met yet. :)

I love your books! I won the first one in a contest and have been addicted since, lol. I would absolutely love the chance to live it to the fullest like Remy (she’s too cool for words). But then again, I get bored a bit easy so I might end up pulling a Jackie anyways–it’s hard to break good habits >_<

If I got to command someone… hmm, it’d really depends on who it is. If I liked them, it’d mostly be clean and cook for me and be my boy toy (for males only). If it wasn’t someone I liked… well, it’s really just would be more cleaning except I’d hire them out to the people around me with very strict conditions to cover any loopholes :)

So we are being completly honest here, and knowing myself like I do, I would be fighting against my nature. I really could not see me embracing it and living life to the fullest. No I can see it being a very big battle inside.

    2) A succubus must take commands from her master. She must obey without question, just like a minion. If you had such powers to abuse, what would you command someone to do for you? Rob a bank? Eat a mudpie? Dress up in a bunny suit?

Ooooh, just depends who my minion was. There are several people that I am angry with, and yes, oddly enough, I would soo abuse my power with those certain people (only because they had demeaned me). Now if it was not those people, I really wouldn’t be too bad of a master. Unless you anger me or hurt me or mine in some ways I’m really quite thoughtful

Hi there! You know, it’s funny but I like that the succubi aren’t super powerful. Jackie’s very normal in a physical stamina sort of way. She hasn’t been trained as a ninja, she can’t give anyone a judo chop, and she probably wouldn’t even win a slapfight with Remy. I like having a heroine that isn’t an asskicking badass, if that makes sense. :)

    2) I don’t like lapdogs/minions, but I’m willing to trade. Watch Vampire Diaries without complaining? I would command people to make the world a better place and learn how to be good/useful people, especially those who have wronged others.
I love wings, especially on boys (Merry Gentry series by LKH helped with that). I like the smell of clean clothes or amber. Pink gloves! :)

Have you ever read the Anita Blake series? I like many men and superpowers in my books, but I like the one in real life, as he is many to me. Can’t you like museums AND enjoy sexy things? :) Remy, if you met Anita Blake, would you give her any tips from “experience” in your succubus life?

    2. I really don’t take orders well any more. So I would have them do something silly so as not to really hurt anyone. I try and live by the “and it harm no one”, belife. I did say I try to, I always don’t get it done.
Just by looking at your picture I can tell you are a person who really likes to have fun, so my question must be, so what do you do to have fun?

    Hi Jill,

Thanks for bringing in the Succubi entertainment!

    1) Taking that Succubus and spelling it Incubus; it sounds like fun…

    2) Abusing powers sounds like more fun. The problem wouldn’t be in finding ways to abuse them, but rather where to start…clean my dishes?

    I RSVP’d for this event.
I attended AND participated in author Kelly Meding’s event.
    I RSVP’d for Louise Delamore’s event.

    Hi Jill,

    loved the interview:)

    1) Probably the second choice, at least at the start. I’d likely relax more after a decade or two:)

    2) I don’t like the idea of making someone to anything against their will, so it’d would only be some boring housework only.

    Thanks!
